Hi guys,

I bought a loom + ECU which was from an R32 but was on an RB25DET.

I was told this was an R32 RB20DET ECU and loom, which is what I need for my RB25DE head on my RB30E bottom end, for my RB30DET.

I am somewhat worried that it is in fact an R33 RB25DET loom, and ECU, and thus is not chippable, and will not be appropriate for the sensors on the RB25DE head, and the injectors, etc.

The serial number is: 23710-21U01

Only hit I could find on that was this guys post who says it is an RB25DET ECU (R33) http://64.233.187.104/search?q=cache:FmHd5...710-21U01&hl=en

I have taken some photos:

I was originally posting this to ask which one was the consult port, but now Im concerned this isnt an R32 ECU at all!!

http://www.grid.co.jp/en/prod/prod93.htm

It seems this is a chipped R33 ECU, that has had a daughterboard installed, and a reprogrammed R33 chip.

This will not be compatible with the sensors on my R32 RB25DE now will it. :)

Hmm. Anyone interested in swapping an R32 ECU and loom for an R33 ECU and loom? The R33 loom would be easier if you are planning on using a PowerFC since the R33 PowerFC is substantially cheaper. :)

Looks definitely R33.. no standard replaceable chip there that I can see.

The ERPOM on the R32 are lot smaller and skinnier..

Actually.. I just pulled out R33 ECU I had lying around.. same part number .. Its a series1 ECU for R33.. sorry bud

That ecu wont fit an r33, the brackets are wrong. The brackets are for an r32.

But the internals dont match what i found inside my r32 ecu either and the part number is slightly different. could it be an rb25de ecu?

got picks of the loom? Thats pretty easy to confirm r32 or 33 from the under dash plugs.

its interesting as it has the top chip socketed.. whereas most of the standard R33 ones don't..

Maybe it is possible to chip them, its just quite expensive?? (that programmer on g-grid site was up around $1000).

Can you see what looks like home solder jobs around the top socket there at all?

Not that I can see. It looks well done.

From what I understand there is nothing inherently different about chipping an R33 ECU compared to an R32 ECU, other than that you need to do a little bit of soldering on the R33 ECU, and that the chips suitable for the R33 are write-once only.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
