White 32... sorry for the delay mate, have been a bit busy with other things. I'm actually on 4 weeks' leave at the moment so I won't be back in Toowoomba until early April, but yeah, we should definitely hook up.

As for the skidpan day, I now have my wheel bearings so it should all be sweet. They're not in yet but all I need now is the time/motivation to do it. One thing I did notice... the front wheel hubs look a lot like a front wheel drive setup, but with a bolt where the front driveshafts would normally go... I wonder how easy it would be to put the GTS4/GTR bits in, given that I need a new gearbox anyway, and the looms and floorpans are the same? Hmm...

hey revhead...

i hear that you can put all the GTS-4 running gear into a gts-t

a mate was really keen to do it up here... he said that it was going to be simple ... but I didn't believe him.... and he still hasn't got around to doing it.... but yeah... he was talking to a couple of the local wrecking yards around brissy and thought he could get away with it for about $4000....

it's worth looking into if you really want one... because while you've got it apart you can do a few mods while your there.... and atleast you know that if you do it yourself it's been done right.... when I got my car over from japan they told me that it had been regularly serviced blah blah blah..... however as I do all my own mechenical mods I had my sump off and suprise suprise it didn't look like it had had one service let alone regular services... I think the oil was growing!!!!

but yeah... while you got it apart you can do the clutch and rebuild the box while your at it.... it's not as hard as everyone makes out rebuilding manuals to be.... just be neat and lay everything out in order... so it goes back together.... just then you know it's been done once and done properly....

would make an interesting build story....

it'd be interesting to see how common a build it would be if everyone found out that it was actually a straight forward swap??

hmmmm I don't think my piggy bank will permit...

Lol I do have a few things limiting my ability to try it at the moment - money, and an uncertain future (might be moving to Japan for a year or two, might not be) mainly. But it would be very interesting to find out about... might make some enquiries for my own interest.

yeah... it is definatly worth looking into... atleast so someone can say that they did the research and can point someone wanting to do the hard yards in the right direction....

my mate that had that big idea for his 32 just threw it out the window... he just bought a complete RB30 with 25 head to slip into the place of the tired RB20.... it should be awsome... it has all the bits... like forged pistons and cams.... big turbo.... could run 11's or 10's well tuned.... it's good to see that there is still some crazy young (and old) australians giving this import stuff a good go....

anyway.... I actually came to this thread to see if anyone had anymore info on the Skid pan day....

come on I am desperate for some dorift.... all us Central Queensland Drift Nuts are going ..... well.... nuts....

Slip get back to us....

or I guess we'll see you down at the sprints and drift day at QLD raceway on the 28th and 30th....

see you all then....

Reveived email back from ted, saying that its close......

It will happen, but I'm not on the edge of my seat anymore, being there for so long has gotten uncomfortable. Unfortunately we all have to wait on other people to do their job, which sucks, but hey, thats life.

Dorift will come :) Have faith.

Success!!!

The day is a goer, I just got the green light today.

Sunday 4th May. Full day. 4hrs Skidpan, then a catered lunch (sandwiches, cheese, fruit etc) then 4hrs on the LVMA.

16 people.

$150 each - includes lunch.

Requirements of the vehicle

.Registered

.Roadworthy (no shitboxes, if your exhaust is loud or you have a MOMO steering wheel thats fine)

Requirements of the drivers

.Licenced

I will create a new official thread soon with bank details etc, but I just want some initial feedback on the 4th may date.

So far 4 of the 16 spots are already filled!

    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
