i went over with a K&N airpod, but i also got away with some other stuff like a screamer pipe which is apparently quite illegal. it depends on what inspector you get but you can deifnately get permits for them as long as they are secured

so that beast 32 GTR is coming to perth then eh?!

Has anyone in WA had their car licensed, or gone over the pits with an aftermarket Air pod on and passed?

Do yourself a favor and GET the licence for POD exust...etc etc mods...

only cost you $48 I think... it worth it.

when cop pull you ova then you pull it out and tell him to shov the damm Permit up his ass! and Smoke it (If you are dare enough)

cheers

PVA, so when I go to the pits to get it licensed with WA plates, do I ask for permits for the various mods then?

get permits for everything so the cops cant get you for the obvious items, but if they really want to theyll go over your car and find something minuscule and stupid like a hairline crack in your exhaust or something stupid.

Shaun

its $28.50 for a mod license which you can put 5 things on.

so after you go over the pits and get your plates etc. go back to the pits and say i want to get a permit for this pod filter, BOV or whatever. theyll do a few checks and issue you with the permit.

some things you cant get permits for like dodgey pod filters or dual trumpet rice-boy BOV's

I understand if I come across the wrong cop I might be done, but I want to have all the right paper work for the stuff on my car.  So who actually has permits for their mods?

I got a permit for my K & N, but thats about it (only mod as it is N/A );)

Simply done hey as everyone else says, when you go to register the car get the permits their and then, i got my mum to take my car when i got the canary, easier on older people. I didn't want to go anyway :)

if you have defect car ou should not even driving it simple as that but surely how the F**ck they ganna check hairline fracture for exust... what are they ganna use bloody X-rays to find that? as long as your is not over the top modified they are happy to issue permit on writing...

Inspector/engineers are not picky like cops cuz majority of cops dont know jack shit about cars and just pinn you for haivng 4 tires in your car if they wants to! or Being smart ass (that's different story!) :)

Cheers

Joe

theres a big difference between a defected or yellow stickered car and an unroadworthy car

yellow stickers can be given out for pod filters, and BOV's and exhaust this doesnt make them unroadworthy though...

all you need to do is get a permit, or not drive like a tool. cos if they dont pull you over they cant check your car. but for $28 a permit is worth it as youre paying $50 every time you go over the pits to get a yellow sticker removed

moral of the sorty: get a permit!:)

haha settle was just exagerating and making a point that the coppers will pick you for anything they can get you for.

my mate had to take his skyline over the pits last week (bald tyres) and he said everything was fine bar the convex/cave mirrors which were on it (c-red hadn't changed them) but still got it licenced? and he told him to come under the car to have a look at the exhaust which had a crack in it but wasnt leaking, so he had to get that welded up. now thats bullshit.

LOL sorry if my post sounds like bit overtop hehhe I did realised that post on teh web can be hard to detect tone of voice...LOL

moral of story is GET the F*cking permit!

and Stop whining cops pulling you ova and Giving you canaries

cheers

Joe

I would have assumed that my car would have been licensed with the POD filter after it was brought into Australia. It was already installed at the dealership when first purchased, mine is a HKS item.

Of course they could have swapped an OEM item in when going over the pits!!!

Where can you get an engineers report from in WA anyway?

Hey Guys with all this permit talk for mods...

Stupid question: what about VIC? I mean is it legal to have pod filters and what not in Victoria? Like is it possible to get an engerneering certificate or something to pull out and show the cops its legal?

Also with wheel upgrades same sorta thing apply?

Matty (yeah another one!)

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
