no, i think you should get the much cheaper R31

you are now at the HIGHEST category of:

- crashing, and either killing yourself or hurting yourself

- insurance premiums

- blowing an engine or gearbox (got the $$ to replace it?)

- wanting to modify (do you really have the $$?)

taking a loan for a first car, if that's what you are doing, is not the best advice anyone could give you...

Warren.

get a twin cam corolla.

3 years later get a turbo skyline

Werd

Twincams rule, use sfa fuel, cost bugger all to maintain and insure. Gold first car.

Oh and i know its just my opinion but dont buy an NA 'line, pointless excercise if u ask me. Better off getting a commo for alot less money.

There was another "first car" thread not long ago which recommened waiting before getting a skyline, and get an econobox shopping trolley first. I stand by that recommendation. I drove a hyundai for 2 years before getting my skyline, and I think I appreciate the skyline more because of it.

And does anyone else reckon the twin cam corollas are overrated? Great first car but some people REALLY love them and reckon they've got a rocket or something. A friend of mine claimed his stocker did 0-100km/h in "about 5 seconds" and that he "beats VLs 'n shit".

Dunno why he was so blown away with my stock GTS-T's performance then...

But seriously go for an N/A 4cyl to start with, learn to drive, then you can get a skyline and fully enjoy the performance and handling. Plus with the money you save you might be able to get an R32 GTR in a couple of years!

I would also suggest getting a smaller car in the beginning to get some experience and then move to a Skyline.

You won't regret it. Also I think a new P Plater's insurance would be over $2K on a Skyline.

I had a Toyota camry 88 model before. Great car, safe and economical. Especially now when the fuel prices are going through the roof.

I guess the Toyota Corolla Twin Cam suggestion is pretty good.

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
