I did run a full twin stainless from off the front pipes(2x3").It scraped around the rear diff area so welded small plates where it scraped. The car was too low i admit however.With only small rear mufflers,it had the typical gtr scream but with a gurgle added to it. Now have a full titanium 90mm and it is just as loud and scraped.Lesson:if you have a small gap between the top of the tyre and the guard,it generally doesnt scrape.

P.S.full stainless twin and front pipes for sale(under 300km old)In the process of putting in a couple of hotdog style mufflers to quieten it down.Unbelievable sound for track work!!

im thinking of the twin 3" idea but how do i fit twin mufflers? do u step them along obviously and u run the pipes alongside each other?

my rb26 with twins had 3" dumps, merging to 4" cat and then into single 3.5" with 2 mufflers and its f**kin annoying as hell, it wakes people 10 streets away when idleing :P

anyone got pics of setups of where the situate the mufflers to quieten it down :)

cheers

Brad

Any exhaust made from anything other than mild steel is loud (due to wall thickness)

Mine is a straight through system - ie no cat, no mid mufflers, no hot dogs. Just 2 x 3" Jasma mufflers on the rear thats it....Its very quiet, and it doesnt drone.

Below is a pic of part of my system. It has since been modified to fit my car (was off an r33) The hangers are chopped and rewelded, and the flange has been cutoff and its now a single 3.5" into twin pipes after the cat. The system shown stops before the diff.

First off, U gotta love SAU, U can always find what U need.

Heres a pic of a Nismo exhaust.

Also, can someone clarify flow rates for different size pipes ie.

2inch = ???cfm

2.25inch = ???cfm

and so on.

Thanks

If going duals on a twin-turbo GTR would it be best to go a crossover pipe from the dump/front pipes like most V8's do with pipes from each cyclinder bank?

yep, thats what i was told to do otherwise the sound its horrid!

doesnt have to but a huge one either, just enough to balance pulses... or something like that

    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
