Mine use to squeek I used silicon spray on the clutch leaver, i think it is called some thing like that, anyway under the car remove the rubber plug in the gear box the get someone to push the clutch in and out the find the squeek spray the noisie joints. try not to get any on the clutch plate as it will slip and might burn out. the squeek might not go away straight away but give it 24 hours to work its way in.

I hope that makes some sence!

:(:D :D :D

What is that component that people refer to when you change your cluth that gets rid of the squeaking noise??

Is it the Thrust bearing (locating in the gearbox). Or something similar.

Thats what makes it squeak right?

I will be upgrading my stock clutch (that squeaks like a bitch every morning) soon and want to make sure the mechanic attends to it at the same time..

Any advice would be great.

Regards

Rob

My standard clutch squeaks as well. I'm getting a brand new Daikan heavy duty installed today so I'll let you know if it still squeaks. I doubt it will though. I'll also ask the mechanic what causes it.

Hey 2fardwown,

Yeah that would be good... (I think it just needs lubrication, but you can't get to it very easily from the outside.. the best time to do it is when you install a new clutch).

Keep us informed..

Mine creaks too! Isn't that funny, I 've got an aftermarket clutch... 2500pounds ceramic multibutton. awesome clutch. it creaks tho' when the pedal is depressed.

I have also noticed tyhat when my car is on idle i can hear this squeaky noise. I place my foot on the pedal just a bit, say depress it about 20mm and the squeakin stops. hmmm...

Any Ideas????

Squiggle San,

The creaky noise is just the levering mechanism. nothing to worry about. The whirring sound when your foot is off the pedal is the thrust bearing - nothing to worry about there either. The bearing will outlast your clutch & when it's replaced, it's routine to replace the thrust bearing. My BigDatto does the same. Don't sweat it.

Sayonara.

So what exactly is it that makes it squeak???

It does it every morning for me and does not go away until 30 minutes of driving.

Really annoying.

I just want to make sure I fix it, the same time I get a new clutch.

Regards

Mr Datto, dank you vely march!

I only had my clutch replaced not that long ago. I have alos noticed that if i don't have enuf revs the thing bounces. is this due to the heavier plate.

it happens all the time when i'm going up my drive. don't want to rev it too much or it will lite up.

soyanara.....

The fork pivot ball can sometimes snap away from the lower threaded section, pressure from the fork ensures that the two pieces will never separate and the squeaking comes from the two halves on some occasions.

I was told this by the owner of a performance workshop and when I questioned the validity of the information, he opened the drawer of his desk to reveal 5 new threaded pivots waiting for cars with this complaint.

Apparantly the part costs stuff all and is the same for both 31's and 32's.

33's I'm not sure on but I think he told me they were all the same aswell.

well, my little Nissan Pulsar hatch ('90) has a squeaky clutch too! I've just started watching Initial D, so for a bout a week i was going a bit crazy with the down shifting, using the clutch a HEAP more than normal, usually if i'm just coming up to a red light or something, i just thro it in neutral. But i started down gearing everything, see how quick i could do it (no where near as quick as some of the Best Motoring vids i've seen tho) :)

anyways, started squeaky after this liberal use... So it's not something that i can attack with a can of WD40 and crawl under my steering wheel to get to the pedals? I need to take something apart??

cheers.

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
