Pete you also use Adrenaline don't you?

Do they have a datalogger?

And there's also Ovaboost... what are they like?

JIMIH I actually do my own tuning i have used hyperdrive and Adrenline in the past (when george was with them) and I have my own Datalogger which use to tune mine and a few of my clients gtr's. Adrenline has a new tuner which i not interested i using (for personal reasons)but George has gone out on his own in a small shop in buno with dynamic dyno (old g-speed shop). And i can say with all honesty that my car would not achieve what it has so far with out georges help.

I intend on slow building up a small business but at the moment i just do work (after hours) for friend who ask me to.

pete

ps NIB good to see your still around and kicking

huum datalogger meaning saved data from previously tuned r34?

I see...so basicaly find a shop who has done similar tuning to what I wanted?

There is this r33 X-speed has done...The pfc for R33 GTSt and R34 GTt are different even though they both have Rb25. Does this mean that the data X-speed has cannot be used in my ECU?

Sometimes what you pay is what you get. Let's say you go to someone who's not so good, you might have to go back multiple times as they can't seem to tune your car properly. So in the end, you pay more than what you thought you'd do.

...

this is soooo true. Bite the bullet, pay for a good tune, otherwise you will never know what your car is capable of.

If you are just after a cheap tune, I will do it for you, $100

umm waht abt the datalogger?

well sometimes need to research these stuff...cost does not necessarily comes with quality... for example retail price for pfc here is about $1300 while I got mine from for $960 brand new with hand comander and straight from Japan....

well if this case X-speed is good..then I'll have to go with X-speed....I prefer X speed as well but they are expensive so trying to find cheaper alt...but seems you guys agree that X-speed is worth every cent..then I'll go along...pls explain datalogger thingy sumone~~ cheers

sky 34 the datalogger help in tuning by data altering speed (tuning) changing set points on the maps with a hand controller has to be done one at a time (VERY VERY SLOW) BUT the datalogger you can select a group /patten etc and change at a touch of a switch

ie to change 20 set ponits on hand contoller might take 3 minutes or so (guessing)

on datalogger would take 2 to 3 secs and we all know time on dyno is pricey this is only one of the advantages, it would take me to long for the rest BUT one thing to note is offen the datalogger is a good sign that shop is serious about tuning APEXI PFC'S

To answer skyr34's question, yes we have the Datalogit software for most of the Nissan range which does make the tuning a little easier and quicker.

To give an idea of costing , an initial Power FC tune on a vehicle we see for the first time is $450.

All subsequent tuning is purely dyno time at $140 per hour but with most of the bolton mods you would normally do to a Skyline, the additional tune time would only be 1 or 2 hours max.

Cheers

Lumpy (From Hyperdrive) has been around many years, and have always been very happy with his customer service and the work he does. If I have ever had a problem, he has ALWAYS had the time to help me.

So too with Ken, always very helpful and will spend time with his customers which is not always the case with every workshop.

Hell they even help out people who arent their customers with advice, and wont just blow someone off because they couldnt be gaffed or there is no money it for them.

Hyperdrive have a very, very good reputation, and that doesnt happen if you dont deliver the goods. The only critisizm I have of them is they are NOR :D

I personally think alot of problems start when people dont understand their cars or what is happening when work is done. I have done alot of work on my own cars and had alot of work done too.

Cars can be a real bitch - you dont know what the previous owner did to it, how its been treated or what problems are just waiting to happen due to previous abuse (or perhaps your own abuse) - until they actually happen.

Often, when you turn up the wick in one particular area - these other problems appear, as you find weak links in the chain.

People then blame the workshop, because the problem wasnt there when they brought the car in, and that is just not fair.

If you have ever spent alot of time and money modifying a car beyond manufacturers spec, you will know this is true. We are just lucky that Nissans as a whole dont have as many weak links as some cars do :)

If you do want reliable, dont cut corners or ask for the cheapest job, just take the car to somewhere that knows what they are doing and ask for a good job - experience is something that is very undervalued IMO.

The dissapointment of poor workmanship or a cheap job will last alot longer than the joy of a cheap price - its an old saying but still very true today. Then you just have to do the whole job again (and possibly more), and it ends up costing you alot more than just doing it right the first time, paying a bit extra for quality. Talking from experience on this one :( true bargains are few and far between.

If you want true value in a job, get an experienced proffessional to do it, experience is priceless.

cheap jobs give cheap results...

you pay for what you get, but some workshops are rip-offs and may not know what they are doing. A lot of us have used many of the said workshops before with good results, my suggestion would be to drop in and visit some of the workshops and talk to the people involved and have a look around the workshop. If the workshop looks clean and the guys know what they are on about give them a go, just make sure you tell them exactly what you want and then listen to their advice about what the car/mods are capable of. Nothing worse than paying money (exspensive or not) and having the tune destroy an engine because the shop wasnt up to the task, having been down the path of new ecu, bigger turbo etc i would highly recommend x-speed or hyperdrive.

    • Hi all,  I am in the market for an R200 longnose diff out of a Z31 300ZX, or S12 RSX, DR30 skyline, or similar, in a 3.9 ratio.  Preferably a late model one with the M12 crownwheel bolts.  The only easy to find advert for one of these was my ad back in 2007 when I sold it on this forum.  I sold the diff as I had sold the car it goes to, but as it turns out, after 18 years I got the car back late last year, so now I'm looking for the diff !  If anyone knows where to find a longnose R200 LSD with the M12 crownwheel bolts, drop me a line at [email protected] - Bonus paid if soomeone comes up with the original diff (stranger things have happened !).  Cheers   Ben D
    • Hi everyone, I used to post here a bit from 2004-2013, when I owned various Nissans, in particular my S12 RSX gazelle, which was sold in 2007.  As luck would have it, after an 18 year hiatus, the car found its way back to me last year, and over the past 11 months I have had the pleasure of restoring it with my kids.  One thing that I am after in particular is a 3.9 ratio R200 LSD for it.  I actually sold the one out of the car here back in 2007 , and it would be incredible if I could track down who I sold it to, so I can see how they have progressed over the years (and to be honest, to see whether I can get the diff back !).  Anyways, hi all and let me know "where are the R200 Longnose diffs all at these days ?  Cheers Ben D
    • Arms will be the same as the G35 or 350Z, but as above, there was a change in the lower control arm where it connects to the ball joint.  That said, you can remove the ball joint cone from your old ball joints and fit them to the new ball joints.  To be honest, I didn't think the ball joints themselves were different. The main ball joint is a bit awkward to replace, you really need to remove the steering knuckle to press out the old one.  Some people have used tools to remove it in place, but it just seemed too hard to get to. If you are going to press out/in that ball joint, then you may as well just replace the bushings in the LCA and the compression rod.  You can buy the compression rod bushing from Nissan, but the LCA bushes, you will need to go aftermarket. Much cheaper than buying the whole arm.
    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
