Welcome!! :)

Yes insurance sucks for 18/19 y/o....

1900 per year for me..

$1,900 is cheap, are you crazy? I'm 21 with a pretty clean driving history, and for me to insure the GTR fully comprehensive was $3,500 with Just car or $3,800 with Shannon's. Famous said it wouldn't be more than $3,000. Pfft! It's BS I tell ya!

By the way Kylie, it may be a good idea to put aside enough money for an engine rebuild before you start spending money on mods. I speak from experience....

hey how are u all goin?? my names kylie im 18 years of age.....and im a childcare worker!

5months ago i bought a R32 GTR 1989:) its all stock atm but when the money starts rolling in again it wil b getting work done to it! i would like to keep it as orginal as possible thought:P~

anyway im new to this site and thought i would say hello:)

hope to see u all around:):)

ill get a pic of my car up there very soon:)

Hi there!

Well done on the new aquisition, the R32 GTR is a great car (I'm sure I don't need to tell you tho').

If you haven't had the advice already, I suggest that you leave the boost at factory until you are ready for a turbo upgrade/rebuild, the ceramic rear wheels let go pretty easy especially on the older GTR's. Mine let go at 11psi just due to old age. Keep the power levels down below 400rwhp once you do mod it or you will find the old grandad of a motor will die very quickly, leaving you with a rebuild bill of greater than $7k (stock). Having money in the bank for a car of this age is probably smarter than modding it to begin with as well (I'd put away about $5k as an emergency fund) and allow around $2k or so per year purely for mechanical up keep.

There are plenty of great people on these forums if you ever need advice or more often than not sympathy when your car breaks down. lets face it that's performance car ownership.

have fun!

Nice work on the GTR, although they can be pretty pricey if something lets go inside the engine. GTR's are getting cheaper and cheaper nowdays and still look agressive in standard form. Nice work on the insurance that is very cheap. I still havent found a quote under $3k although mine is not exactly stock standard. meh.

cruise... mmm must see if we can organise something soon. keep your eyes looking at the events section and you will know when something going on.

    • Well, this is probably where a wiring diagram and a multimeter come into play.
    • I can say to anyone thats doing this; having done a number of R clusters; just be careful if its an unknown cluster.  It takes a bit of force to pull up; but if it feels excessive then its probably stuck. I've had this and pulled the entire hair spring out; and I can tell you; its not easy getting the correct spring replacement with the correct inner diameter and winding. In my case someone had used some sort of adhesive to stick it to the spindle and it pulled the whole spindle out; which the force seperated the hairspring from the spindal and caused it to deform.  You may have to clean it (IPA); or in my case if i'd known i should have used some sort of solvent on it.  Also check out Cruizin Central on eBay. He does all sorts of dials; and you can email him with any custom designs you want. So if you want like certain logos etc...he'll send you a mock of what it will look like then you accept the order and he'll take care of the rest. Fantastic dials and he can do basically any design you want.
    • Have you confirmed its the actual axles? Also the wheel bearings that mount on the hubs to hold the axles wear out. I replaced mine as they got play in them. It sorted my play issue.
    • Ive converted a few clusters for the R33 with 320km/h dials. On the back there are some pads which can be bridged or unbridged (using solder or wick braid) to calibrate it. There is one bridge which is for MPH <> KPH; and there are combinations of bridges to offset it. There is probably a diagram  For example; this is my conversion for a 180km/h dial to a 320km/h dial (I put custom GT-R dials on it with the GTS25t layout) If you have J2 soldered (assuming the S clusters have a similar config to the R clusters); you may need to remove that solder
    • Back on topic 😉, these are some of the notable pages from the booklets that are supplied with each weekly parts update. I never knew the BNR32 test mule car had an S13 Silvia front end... *Edit: On closer inspection the test car still had the R32 body, but only the front end had Silvia panels etc.
