I went to dragstrip last night and managed dissapointing time of 13.8s, 109mph (175km/h)...car is r33 with bigger turbo (its T-57) making 347hp atw ON 15psi, and i expected at least low 13s...traction was shit 60 foot 2.478 sec, with shit trampio tyres at the back 18 inches 265 wide, tyre pressure at 40psi (stupid me checked today tyre pressure)...what do you reckon the car should do with this mph, and what launch methods u using, i managed best 60ft without much throttle at take off and whenever i upped the revs i couldnt do better time than 2.6 60foot...i noticed as well that gear stick was sticky on second run, i needed to push really hard few times to get it in third gear, still beat wrx hehe...what could the reason be? i suspect when car was brought here from japan while compliancing all the fluids have been changed except gearbox oil so it could be too old?

i have 225rwkw and got a 13.5 at 109mph... 60 foot 2.3 on 235/45/17

then the next week went back (same set up) and managed 13.1 at 110mph

then went back and got 12.71 at 111mph 60 foot of 1.93 on the same tyres...

just go back and practice...

by the way i launch at 6 grand

hope that helps

is that a 6000 dump or u let it ride a little

is that a 6000 dump or u let it ride a little

i ride it a little. best way to explain would be that i let the clutch go in one fluid motion over a period of about a second or a bit less.

don't hit the limiter it will die in the ass before you grab the next gear... your MPH indicates a mid to high 12 sec pass if you can get the 60ft time down to 2 flat...

I suspect your suspension setup to be at fault... common errors for drag are too stiff a rear suspension and too much neg camber at the rear as the car has been lowered? modern IRS cars don't like to be lowered or you will just fry the insides of your tyres... which is even worse with wide tyres... get some camber adjustment bushes should help get the beast off the line

i have a feeling if i had 50hp less i would have done better time

suspension does feel stiff, its tein not adjustable suspension, no camber kit

it's all about the first 60 foot. 2.5 is way too high to be able to run a low13/high12. i am pretty sure it's just a practice thing. and lower your pressures to about 24 psi. that will help a shiteload :(

Dump the 18's get some sticky street tyres on some 16's,select correct tyre pressures, change over your susp for some 90/10 's pedders, take the spare and any thing else loose out of the car,i would lightly slip the clutch on initial drop, short change into second, dont drive to limiter in 2nd then give it all you have got in 3rd and hang on,drop into 4th if you need it.The biggest mistake every one makes is using too much 1st and 2nd gear these only result in excessive wheelspin- hence your slow 60ft times,3rd gear is the one that does the driving and you must get up into it as soon as posible!

Anyhow good luck with your future racing (remember is not the out right hp but the way in which you hook up! )

    • Hey keep the ideas coming, I'm always keen on projects! But, problem fixed!  I got a cheapie ozito scope from Bunnings and had a good look in and around the bearing and sensor hole. I couldn't see a smoking gun but the bearing looked a bit strange, especially when comparing with a new one. I thought the cover had come off the bearing magnets.  Sorry for pics of a screen, I didn't have an SD card.     Good thing I had the old one to inspect. So, given I'm like a pit crew with wheel bearings and luckily I had a spare bearing because I f**ked up my parts order, I decided to just smash it out. Got the old one out in about an hour. So much easier when the parts haven't had a chance to rust together yet. 😂 And, well, found the problem.    In the second pic at about the 8 o'clock position, you'll see what I think is the tip of the old sensor.  The new sensor has definitely been rubbing but it's all intact, just a little shiny so I'm hoping it's fine.  The car brakes perfectly now and no errors.  I think the job took about 2.5h in the end. 👍🏻 I really appreciate the help in here as usual. Thanks guys.
    • I was only looking because I saw some drops on the ground but it wasn't alot. Recently had it serviced will ask the mech to confirm. Find it strange that it looks standard though, can see in another photo of a random box
    • So...not sure if you know if that has always been there or why you went looking. It could be old damage from a clutch explosion, or even just the gearbox got dropped somewhere along the line. Basically, you should seal it up to stop oil and dust getting into the bellhousing, but it doesn't matter too much and is not structural. I'd suggest something like a glob of JB Weld. BTW what gearbox oil are you running, I would guess the breather has been spewing it everywhere.
    • Hey Duncan thanks for your reply. Sorry mate I know the photos are shit.  Took another photo for reference. Seems the casing does have a hole in it looking on the net, fluid seeping out. Added a photo
    • Very hard to make out what you mean, is it the squarish hole with redline shockproof (probably) under it? Is that pic from on top of the engine with the firewall to the left of pic and engine to the right? Either way, spray the area liberally with degreaser and try again, maybe circle the part you are worried about
