The RB configuration due to it being a six cylinder 2 litre has shorter strokes so off the factory its lacking in torque and yes less than the sr20det.

The RB revs out very nicely though and isnt so weazy.

The RB bottom end is probably stronger being cast iron.

The SR has the potential to go 350-400hp stock but then again so does the RB.

I personally would go with the RB because its just a better starting point.

I do like the timing chain setup on the ser20det because it doesnt cost money to change it on the 100 k service.

But end of the day its how much money you have and both motors are very reliable.

13b kills em but the seals go if you drive 'em hard. as with all rotary / wankel designs.

and if you get even mild pinging..... cyal8r 13b.

besides that 350hp+ out of a 13b can be considered pretty stressful (i mean its no v8!) but you'll be lighter... and a rebuild won't cost as much.

but when all is said and done: if u want something that goes damned fast and lives 2-3 times longer than a 13b, go the sr or rb.

    • Can we place bets? My money is on there is always the option to use the 1 way profile. So the diff is either 2 way and 1 way, or 1.5 way or 1 way.
    • I also used Knox driveshafts when I the slip yoke T56 to the 3bolted TR6060 type. I believe I was one of his first jobs as it literally changed hands when I was there, started by the old owner and finished by the new. Everyone seemed pretty great about it. So wasn't shy/seemed pretty knowledgeable when dealing with weird custom people like me.
    • Just a reminder orange park was cool back in the day   and drifting the main circuit was even cooler   f**k I miss that car
    • We used Knox Drive shafts years ago when we were doing gravel rally, good guy but I heard it had changed hands? He's got a lot of stuff and is miles cheaper than GJ and so on. He used to have a lathe setup with a MIG torch on the tool holder so he could get the uni welds just right, quite a clever guy. I just got a driveshaft done for my sequential installation and that was through Balancing Services Australia in Preston, they did the Gibson cars in the old days. New genuine CV's, billet yoke, new centre bearing and chome moly shaft was $2k.
    • Thanks for sharing that mate, I've got a couple of spares on the shelf but all the unis are tight....will give old mate a shout. BTW are you sure it wasn't just a $400 paint job? Any detail of what they replaced (cut/reweld?)
