usually agreed value is for the term of the policy, ie 12mths, after that period the insurer can assess the value and depreciate it if they want. its up to u to request they bump it up again. some companies will, and some wont....

Ok, when you signed up with HBF, as you own an import car, part of your policy wording would have stated valuations every year or something similar.

Unfortunately there are NO red book values available for imported vehicles in Australia, so insurance companies require the owners of the car to provide a valuation.

I WORK for HBF and I've just had to get MY car valued as well, and I've had it insured for nearly 2 years and never knew about this clause until I got sent my policy renewal certificate.

I just went to the place where I purchased the car (Autoworx) and asked Paul to provide me with a valuation.  He was more than happy to do so.

So even though he sold you the car hes classed as a "independent authorised valuer"

Do you know if you can use any caryard for the valuation?

I got sick of going through the same bs with RAC every time my renewal was due on my silvia. Each year they would drop the insured value a heap and when I wanted to change it I would need to take the car to get it inspected by them.

This year I decided to get a quote from Just Car and for about the same premium as RAC they insured my car with all it's mods declared for the price I paid in 2001. My NCB was carried over as well. The only downside is that the excesses add up to about $1000 more than RAC ($300 vs $1300). The way I look at it is that I don't plan to smash the car myself, and I always worried that RAC would try to worm their way out of a claim due to modifications anyway.

Has anyone in WA claimed with Just Cars? Cause they're based in Sydney right? Or is it Melbourne. And that's wayyyyyy over east. So i was wondering how easy and "fast" it is to do a claim. Insurance always takes a damn long time to claim no matter what. Unless your bank or ur parents or some sponsor is ur main insurance company ^_^

damn 660pa.. what age bracket are you in. Im 24 with 55% no claim bonus and i 'was' paying $1100 a year, but now i have to bloody get my car valued :P

sorry to dig up an old thread again... but does anyone know where? i can valuate my car? i bought it privately here, so i can't really go to the guy i bought it off for a valuation... and also, how much is this going to set me back?

HBF told me that I could go to any car yard to get an evaluation and that would be good enough for them...as long as it was with their header, But I went to Autoworx and got one.

Paul is pretty reasonable, even if you didnt buy your car from him, you might in the future...so I think he would be more than happy to write out a quick evaluation...

BTW I pay $850/year with HBF ( R32 GTR insured for 26K )

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
