Hi all, I am after a new turbo timer and was wondering if theres a good one to go for. I have had a bit of a search and found this one to do the job and it the cheapest I could find

http://www.nengun.com/catalogue/product/18

Is it worth spending a bit more for more features?, I don't know where I would put one of those TT units if I got one so I like the long thin ones coz thats what I have at the mo

cheers

Tom

yeah, I wouldn't need anything like that, just a normal TT that keeps the engine running for programmable times....I guess the cheaper the better for me so can I get a new TT for less than the $85 for the Apexi one I linked?

EDIT: actually it comes to $130 with shipping from Japan

hahaha... i can understand how u feel on 2nd hand parts, ESP electronics. Personally, i wouldn't go that way either, unless i'm really hard up for it and it's wayy out of my budget. And try not to buy off ebay either, some dude got a reconditioned one, that sold as new, cause when the workshop opend up the apexi turbotimer, there were burnt marks and resoldering.

no offence to RR, but I'd rather buy new than secondhand

Tom check if that's compatible with your car. I bought this a while ago from Nengun, sitting in a drawer & hasn't been installed. I just sit in my car for a bit, basically because you only need these when you are putting pressure on the turbo a fair bit, and letting the car idle for about 2 minutes isn't all that hard to do. Different case with 2 turbos I guess. :O

It costs $101 delivered to you in like 2-3 weeks from Nengun, $100 from me pretty much straight away, because you are just over in Beldon if you want it? It's new, in box, I opened it to have a look & that but didn't do jack shit with it.

Not talking about your penis are you?

lol :) , with that extracted from the sentence it would appear so. But no :D

ossie_21, how the hell does the shipping for that come to less than the Apexi onw which is smaller? :D and yeah, its compatible with my car

what the optional harness there?

The other thing is installing it, because I will need to tie it in with my alarm. I guess one option is taking it back to Action Alarms and get them to install it coz they tied my current TT in with the alarm when they installed it...

This timer looks bigger than it is (not another penis joke please :D ), it isn't all that big. I'm sure the same people that did your other one could do whatever you decide to get.

My turbotimer is installed with a bypass.. or rather my alarm Laserline top of the range has a bypass to allow me to lock the car while the engine is still running on the turbotimer and it'll automatically immobilise after the turbotimer dies. Which is pretty good i feel.

Thats what my Cheetah 777 alarm does, so maybe its best I take my new TT to the place that did my alarm....

sorry BNR34 I wants new :(

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
