There is some room for a bit of rice, but a club based on hard street-driven import vehicles is my idea.

Please feel free to suggest other approaches.

Paul , I doubt there is many serious members who will do track days , Khanas etc.

Had Radium , PVA Glue and myself all posting re. MC days, Norberts Max Action days and the Collie sprints with virtually no response.

I personally cannot see why we ( SAU WA ) should go to all the expense of setting up , affiliation, club structure , minutes, reporting, Auditing etc etc if all everyone wants to do is crooz and go to the drags.

As I posted a while ago, why dont we just join an existing club who is already affiliated with CAMS and just run our own chapter.

Cheers

Hmm good Point there Ken. Must admit we get minimal turnout for those kind of events and im a culprit too(mainly due to money probs). Would save us alot of time and money.

Still if we have enuff willing members why not go ahead?(im not talking about ppl who say they will be in then bail the day b4, not pointing finger at all) sure alot of ppl are all show and no go but thats to be expected by nissan drivers j/k nah seriously if we can manage to pull 5 or so members for an event then that cant be too bad can it? as long as we can get enuff to represent the club. Hey if anything falls through id be more then happy to drive ure car Ken :D

Ken,

I agree that at them moment it may be a struggle to find enough interest in some of these things, but if you setup a club with this in mind, then you will begin to attract like-minded people.

I don't disagree with what your saying, but I do believe that there are enough people in WA to form a descent sized club and that you would find enough entries into these events over time.

I don't think we should limit it to just Skylines, any Jap import or other car enthusiast should be welcome, unless they drive an Excel or Lancer, haha.

In competitions and Auto salons then only those cars that would respresent the club well should be allowed in, we want a performance based club, not another ricer.

Performance based club eh? i recon no r33s allowed.

Better get the flame suit on , I can see a LARGE flame coming .:D

Back on topic , maybe we should post a poll to see who will compete in the type of events that requires CAMS insurance , hence the reason for having a proper club ?

Cheers

Ken

RB20LagWagon,

Got that 12 yet? *rub salt into wound* Even Macka's whale managed that!

Ken,

I think it is one of those things, that once you have a club that is able to compete in CAMS events that more people who are inclined to do that stuff will join. I'm keen to do motorkhana events, and I'd like to do track stuff but can't risk my only car. If I had another car then I'd be in like a shot.

well get into it boyo, theres MC days , Enjo Speed event Series which is laps of Wanners , collie, hillclimbs at meelup and Wellington dam , Norberts Max Action etc.

There is more than enough stuff to do with a near std car but every one talks about but very few do it.

This is why I wonder about the reasoning behind forming ANOTHER one make type club in WA that pays huge fees to CAMS.

Read the fine print.

Ken,

Once I have my twin/triple plate clutch put back in and get my coil-overs properly tuned then I will be more than happy to join in these events.

You'll need to take it easy on me, casue I don't want to wreck my car.

See'ya:burnout:

I can tell you nothing you do to your car on those events is any worse than the abuse you give it at the drags.

The only difference being is that you will have to brake and turn corners which for some people is a novel idea.

Phil , so have I , in fact I gotta International R5 atm ( yea $600 worth ) but the rest of these guys who MAY do some CAMS stuff haven't.

Cheers

thats two so far )

Ken

For level 2 which is all you would need for most events is fill out the form and pay money ( noy sure but will check , I think under $100 )

For level 3 or National Rally fill out a form , pay more money , do an online test ( bout $200 )

For level 5 or International Rally , fill out form , do medical , pay LOTS more money ( bout $600 ) and do an online test.

For racing , totally different and XRW is pretty up on it cos he was the AFARCC CAMS steward last year.

    • I'm seeing torque specs all over the place for the OUTER tie rod, but none for the INNER tie rod, where it connects to the steering rack. Even in videos, people are just tightening em up as much as they can with a wrench and that's it. Anything tightened down without torque makes me nervous. Anyone know what the spec is for it?
    • Hope you had a great time here in our tiny country.   The JDM scene we have here is quite small, it's mostly BMW, Volkswagen with burble tunes haha. But the few JDM cars we do have in the scene are pretty nice. Some of my friends drive cool s14's too. Both built engines, red one makes abt 500, blue one abt 400 i think?
    • Ye good idea , would have never thought of something like that. Might aswell do it to every pulley and the balancer while I’m there
    • Use an LS1 or similar, via kit like Frenchy's. But.... It's probably not the alternator. It sounds like belt squeal, which would be because the pulleys are glazed. Rub every groove on the pulleys with 120 grit paper. Report back. Oh, and new belts afterwards too. The old new ones will be shitted up already.
    • Hello all I have 2 r34 sedans , one turbo one na, only recently aquired the na 34.  Man what is with these things.... My turbo 34 started sounding like a super charger, it was screaming at anything above 4000rpm , I took the alternator apart and replaced the front bearing which is the only one I think you can access and it did not fix the issue so presumably the bearing in the rear of the alternator is gone. ( diagnosed it was the alternator by taking off the aux belts one by one to figure out which pulley or bearing it was )  My friend gave me one he had lying around, Installed it , it did not squeal for maybe 500kms and now its started to squeal again briefly on startup  Recently got an na r34 and I replaced the timing belt, water pump + all the auxillirary belts. Runs amazing but it suddenly developed the same squeaking problem but significantly worse, Ive had my neighbour come down screaming at me because it was waking her up everytime I moved the car. It takes a good 2 minutes before it quietens down.  Im yet to diagnose where its coming from but im fairly sure its coming from the alternator aswell. My question isnt about how to fix it but rather where can you get a new alternator for an rb25 neo??? Ive searched everywhere but I havent been able to find a direct fit oem type replacement thats not genuine. All the automotive stores sell an oex one - BXA035 - which I picked up for cheap through a friend with staff discount , got it home only to find the connector is completelty different.... As far as im aware bxa035 is for rb20/30's and after a bit of figuring out the bxa035 has an ev14 type connector, which is tiny compared to the rb25 connector. I actually had an ev14 connector lying around which I was considering just replacing the bigger plug with to get the alternator working but the bxa035 is rated for 70amp vs the rb25 alternators are 90amp ( or so ive been told ? ) That paired along with the fact im about to install an amp + sub in the back and I have the stock sized small battery Im not sure itll do the job unless anyone has another opinion?  I know and have seen all the websites selling the ls1 alternator conversion kit but I am not going down that route, nor do I have the money to. Hopefully I can figure out how to get 2 brand new alternators for both cars. I would buy second hand which there seems to be many of but considering how common this seems to be im sure If I installed a second hand one it would start squealing in no time  Or even better if anyone knows how to fix the issue directly with the alternator itself... Any input appreciated Thank you     Link for bxa035 connector picture
