Yay!

I pick it up on Wednesday - only to go to the US for 2 weeks on Thursday :

But - finally - I have scored my dream machine.

Is a 1997 (Series 3) VSpec - a REAL one.

Yes it's purple. Yes they are 18x Volk TE37s. I'm pretty chuffed.

A reasonable step up from the Lada :)

More photos when I get back :)

Ryan:

Cheers :)

I have to say I'm a bit pleased. It's been a long time coming.

So typical to get it then store it for 2 weeks straight away though.

:)

Looking forward to a bit of cruising. Got to think of a plate now...

AVC-R and RSM:

Yes. Has Defi guages also. Will fit a PFC.

Gran Turismo:

Yes. I ordered a 'purple series 3' in October. They have been looking in Japan - and then this came up last week... it was a local car!

The previous owner is heading back overseas - and it's immaculate.

I would like to thank him/her actually - all the mods are brand-name and expertly installed. What a score :)

Pretty pleased :)

I'm back from the US in mid Feb - will be keen to meet lots of the Melbourne people.

Haha.

I've still got the Lada. It's too rad to sell :)

The Nissan is to replace the mighty Civic. The poor thing served me well.

Lots of 8500rpm clutch dumps in that baby. I wouldn't sell it to your sister :)

The photo doesn't do the car justice. It is truly awesome.

Sitting next to a 360 Modena Spyder in the showroom - and doesn't look out of place at all. I bought it on the spot.

Gohan:

Must hook up when I get back?

Re: Gran Turismo

I have nothing but nice things to say. They found the perfect car. The price was right (espescially since there are over $20k worth of mods on the car). Bill is great to deal with - he's a funny guy :)

I'd recommend them :)

Mega:

Oh yeah - this will be very much the pride-and-joy.

I'm donating my BBQ to a friend to make sure there is ample room in the garage. The Lada will have to sleep outside :)

Also - bit of driver training is in order as it is sooo different to anything I have driven. I'll take good care :)

damn right!

got a power figure for that beast and/or a mod list? or is it top secret?!?!

Arrows:

I'd be mad not to :)

Going from a FWD hot-hatch and a piece of agricultural machinery to a racing-car is a massive step. I want to learn how to drive the beast properly.

I've done lots of courses in the past - used to race the Civic at Phillip Island with the Honda club - lots of fun :)

Will do the Murcott package - including the beginner training (I want to start slowly :) )

uLa32:

Actually - I'm not sure as to the full extent of the mods and the power output... basically though - Apexi exhaust and computers (AVCR & RSM), HKS pods, ARC heat shield (could be intercooler also), looks like TEIN suspension, those lovely 18x9.5" TE37s... but stay tuned. I'll get it all sorted when I come back from the US.

I'll run a comp - see who can guess the Lada's output at all 4 wheels :)

hehe can't wait... oh yeah, just like to mention that your TE37's look absolutely sexy... hehe. :)

did bill or eddie ever mention to you that they are going to have a track day for gt auto's customers at calder or sandown? last they told me, it was close to being finalised.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
