I've got a modified standard rb25det plenum, with the throttle body located to the front fairly professionally. Can take pix if anybody is interested

Looking to swap for standard (onmodified) rb25 plenum... just the top part, don't need the runners.

Not looking for a sale at the moment, just a swap

So basically you get a modified front facing plenum for the price of postage of sending yours to me, and mine to you (so $30 or something).

Can organise some sort of security deposit if you're worried, although i have been on these forums for 3+ years now ..

here is how this same setup can look like installed... the bottom two photos below is actual plenum

why u him want swap? yes

sorry but I'd say most people are put of as there has been talk of modified plenums not having a even spread of airflow to all cylinders

maybe if you let people know why you want to swap back to standard they will be interested

jeez.. its the mod police. So everybody has to give to give a massive list of pros and cons for every item that is sold on here?

Its debateable. Some see its not a good idea, some reckon that it poses no problem whatsoever. I haven't heard of anybody say it has actually caused major problems with their car... and I have seen the modded standard plenum in a few skylines, for whatever reason. I don't even know why the guy I bought the engine off modded it like that, but he did know his mechical knowledge - and obviously he thought there were valid reasons, such as less piping required, and giving easier access to the engine.

I actually need it because of my existing piping setup, otherwise I would have tried it for a while as I think it would be fine. The engine hasn't even gone in yet.

Anyhow, if somebody wants to give it a try they can do it for free, and save wasting $xxx getting their plenum modified to do it. If you don't like it, go track down another standard plenum. Like anything, it is worth discussing with your tuner whether its a good idea or not and whether it suits you needs.

Have I provided an adequate enough disclaimer yet?? ...sheech

i also have a modded plenum facing the front and i am now going from 300rwkw to 370rwkw so anways dude i can swap one if you want i have the top half of a stock one if you want to swap pm me

my apologises for trying to help you sell something

sorry - maybe I mis-intrupted, but it sounded like you were saying it would cause problems and I was intentionally selling something that would give people grief. Which is not my intention. I apologise.

As per Teamzn is saying above, I have seen a few people use them with good results.

Teamazn -- will discuss over PM.

  • 2 weeks later...

Pred i have a standard R32 ECCS top plenium without throttle body. You can have for free if it fits...

NOTE: Im not offering this item for free to everyone. Only Gorden. Cause he is a great bloke whom i know.

thanx col.. but i have the r32 one on my current motor.. this is for the rb25 that is going in next year.

I believe they won't fit the r33 bottom runners. I might give it a try when both engines are sitting side by side though :P

    • Driveline vibration is resolved. I ended up loosening all my engine mount and trans mount bolts, giving it a good shake then retightening everything and it's gone... Let's just say I was surprised that fixed it.  I've been happily driving it around again but unfortunately put zero time into my direct port/constant pressure WMI setup. I'm on vacation next week, so I'll try and finalize it then.  On a different note, I spent all week fuel/ignition mapping 2x 216L V16 engines. Turbo's were burning glycol and we swapped them out for larger units. We also had planned emissions testing on site, so I figured I'd be there the same week to use their instrumentation and massage any emissions issues out if needed. This was a first for me. Fuel management is similar in certain ways to automotive (i.e air density as load variable) but very different in others. It's all PLC based and AFR's are controlled by air and not fuel. They use a control valve between the turbo and air manifold to control pressure which in turn controls AFR's. Due to this, target AFR tables supplied by the OEM are in pressures and not mass which really through me off. They use air pressure vs fuel pressure tables. I also relied on an O2 concentration sensor the emissions team had in the exhaust. Ignition timing was also all over the place and we were losing a fair bit of power. They're now happily sitting at 16-40BTDC depending on load. We were making about 1600kw at 900rpm at 90% load. Engines were running a lot smoother as well.
    • heh, aint no R32 ever meeting modern targa cage rules unless the driver is veeeery short OP, good luck with the sale, since its already in the land of freedom I'm sure you will find a good buyer.
    • meh, it was a good video, clear about the issue and how he dealt with it. A bit heavy on the RTV and very brave to put an RB in anything without rebuilding it first, but otherwise I thought it was good Dose, I'm not sure that having the pickup forward is a big issue; yes of course the oil could shift under brakes but the sump should never be empty enough for that to be a problem (unless you also have a higher volume oil pump, and that oil can't return from the head to the sump quickly enough)

    • I'd love a Haltech ECU, and Haltech 10 dash. Was having a chat with Rob and Andy @ Haltech when Rob put one in his MR2. First one I'm kind of interested in too, as you can dim it RIGHT down. Andy was saying bright dashes is one of his peeves too!
