Hi all

I have found a nice set of rims for my R34 GTT.

2 possible sizing schemes:

1) front 18x8.5 (2" dish) and rear 18x9.5 (3" dish)

2) 18x8.5 all round (2" dish) 235/40/18 tyres

IanH from R34GTT.net recommends that the best combination is 1) with 265/35/18 tyres at the rear as to not upset the TCS (keeps the rolling diameter the same)

For a rather stockish 34GTT I think option 1) is a bit extreme having 9.5" wide rears. I think perhaps 8.5" all round on option 2) is sufficient for looks and traction.

Searching on the forum I also found that some people say that wide rims arent always a good thing too as they impact on performance (heavier), balance, pricier tyres and so forth.

I guess the only thing is that the 9.5" rears look better with the rears being wider and bigger dish. Then again it might look silly having massively wide rims on just a GTT. I can imagine them going on a GTR though.

In summary

Option 1)

+ looks nice

- more expensive

- performance impacts

Option 2)

+ cheaper

+ legal

+ insurance ok

+ should not upset TCS as all wheels would have the same rolling diameter

- not as nice looking maybe

What do you guys think? I am leaning towards option 2)
