Hey guys, i think its time to ugrade my stock intercooler, as ive bought a type m front bar for easier fitment.

Mods so far are just pod and exhaust

I'm wanting to get a full i/c kit inc piping so i can fit it all myself, and would like the hole where my standard i/c piping goes through to be free, so i can get some sort of cold air feed going on for my open pod (heat shielded), coupe r33 gts-t

My budget is ~ $1000, what would most go for with my budget?, i heard r33 gtr coolers are a great upgrade, but at the same time i was thinking a hybrid kit would do the job???just need some thoughts on the subjet.

Also, i bought one of those tubonet boost taps, but havent upped the boost yet as im waiting for the cooler to go on, whats a safe limit after upgrading the standard cooler.....around 11 psi?

thanks in advice

the hybrids seam to be a good kit and many people are happy with them and you would probobly get it a bit cheaper than 1000 and yes gtr coolers are good with custom piping 11ish i ok but running 10 and a little bit would be better otherwise the ecu might get upset.

For ease of fitement (Took me slightly over an hour) I would get one with the returm pipe that goes back under the cooler and uses most of the stock intercooler piping (Like the pic below) No cutting excetera required, Blitz make one that can be had for around $1000 off of nengun, there is one for sale on here too http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=98632 ARC makes one for a similar price also on nengun (They can be had else where but I am thinking of your budget) And AVO turbo world makes one for $1100

Bunta:

No offence, but a few of things i do not like about that fmic;

1/ The return pipe appears to sit low.

2/ Due to its design the core is pretty small.

3/ No cold air feed for the pod, so you are only sucking hot air in the eng bay.

Those fmic kits are only good if you intend to keep your std airbox and have limited power.

thanks for the info guys, some dude down here is selling a hybrid kit for cheap, but im a bit concerned....he sent me the install inst. for the hybrid cooler, and it says that the fan blades need to be trimmed for the piping to pass through???it doesnt sound legitimate to me.....or is this what you guys had to do?

What kits are straigh bolt ons, no cutting etc required....id like to spend just under 1000....cheers

Alot of people have had to cut their fans.

I got a Hybrid copy piping kit from Justjap but my mechanic managed (very well I might add) to fit the piping so it doesn't hit the fans. He had the move the whole piping kit half an inch back.

Hey guys, ive got a price of 700au for a full hybrid cooler kit sent to my door, but a mate of mine will be able to source a r33 gtr cooler w/o piping for 350-400au.......bit of a crisis, how much would a piping kit cost me.....and is there any issues with fitment for the r33 gtr cooler on my 25t?

i dont know which way to go.....please help

thanks

ive been searching the forums, and find they're good for 300rwkw, so restriction is not an issue.

How about piping for these things, will it have to be custom?if so any instructions on how to fit a 33 gtr cooler to a gtst (33 also)?ive been searching but havent found any info so far!

mod the plenum (forward facing, hardly any piping, plenty of room for everything), or throw down the ubend over the engine (clutters things up, leaves plennum intact, cheaper)

i have front facing plenum

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
