Hey i'm about to buy a type m front bumper for my r33 series 1, and was wondering if i can just unbolt the section where the no.plate goes, so it leave more air open to a front mount.......

or do i have to get a panel beater to cut off the section......?

the pic shows where im talking about

Grab the jigsaaw and cut baby cut.

Put some masking tape on top of the area's where you want to cut.

I learnt this from doing a little cabinet making. It holds the area arround the cut together better by helping to keep it from chipping away.Same as the paint will if you go balls out on it.

Then you should cover the hole with mesh and rivet it in place. When you rivet the mesh in id have the front bar off.It will then be easier for you to fold back the mesh for riveting or cable tied.

If you dont fold the mesh back it will look dodgey from the front with the exposed cut edge showing.

Now you should have the cut holes in the front bar covered up.

Dont go taking this as gospel though, and use your own common sence.

You should make a step by step guide on how you do it and post it up in the diy section.

hey iv done it to mine

<<<<<

but there is a catch, you need an engineers certificate so if a cop pulls you over, and its been engineered they wont defect you for it, i say just leave it as it is so there is less hassels, if i found that out i wouldn't of cut mine.

I'm curious aswell, as i'm about to do it

my M spec front bar is off the car at the moment , ready to cut.

problem with my car is i have a metal bar behind my front bar

i was thinking cutting that so it shows the front bar or take the whole thing out.

Let us know

Thanks

looks like im probably not going to cut the front bit out of my front bar

as i have read on another post

that reinforcement bar is a good thing to have there, supporting ya front end in a collision . One thing i thought is depending on the collision you have , ya still going to f#$k shit up.

but anyway also thinking of my insurance

it will most probably be void taking it out .

So looks like im just going to leave it.

Might get it a spray while its off .
