Bliksem
Im looking to start a group buy for genuine RB25DET Idler Assembly replacement bearings. After recently doing my own 100k service I was quoted $350 for the timing belt idler bearing and another $130 for the timing tensioner pulley bearing from Nissan. I was also quoted $225 for the timing belt idler bearing and $95 for the tensioner pulley bearing from Just Jap. I have managed to get hold of a supplier who is happy to do a group for $240 delivered on both the Idler and Tensioner bearings (Genuine Nissan Replacement parts) Both of these a requirement when doing the 100k service when changing the timing belt, and is also a good idea when rebuilding your motor for peace of mind. Looking for around 10 buyers to achieve this price. Closing Date: 20/1/05 PM me for any further questions or details. Bliksem
Those are not the same part numbers I have. From memory there was a thread not long ago and the non genuine bearings didnt come with the sleeve or shaft shown in the pictures. gtst25
Yes they do come with the sleeve etc. I started a thread in the maintenance section yonks ago when I did the idler/tensioner over a year ago. The thread was titled fiddly stuff and if you do a search you will find the right part numbers in the thread. They are cheaper than the genuine ones and I can't see any reason why they wouldn't last as long. One guy got them cheaper than I could but he was in sydney. From memory it was about 60 for the idler and 105 for the tensioner. I've used NSK in all my vehicles and never had any troubles - they are good bearings. beastien
thats not a bad deal. what kind of bearings do they supply in the kit?? genuine? I'm pretty sure they are NSK bearings, which would be as good as genuine. I wouldn't be surprised if the genuine ones are NSK. bombastic
I only got my car a couple of months ago (98000km), and when I got it I knew it needed the timing belt done... but I didn't know anything about bearings. I had it done at Caringbah Automotive Repairs & Service in Taren Point. The invoice I got says "T1040 Timing belt" but nothing about bearings. So after reading this thread I'm thinking it should have been done, and if so is the mechanic to blame for not knowing to do it? I've just done over 100000km so I guess I should get it sorted. Wonder what other surprises are waiting to empty my wallet... beastien
It depends who you talk too, I've heard SK say that it is not required to change the pulleys when you change the timing belt, but i'm quite sure it is recommended to be done with the 100000k service.
