Im just interested to know what kind of systems ppl are putting in theyre skylines hehehe. I know most skyline owners will spend most of theyre money on performance mods but hey, some of us love a good sound system right ?.

i guess if its gunna be easy to read use some sort of format, i.e.;

Head Unit: Sony CDX-R3300S CD/MP3 "control blade" tuner, 52Wx4, $180, rating 4/5

Front speakers: Pioneer 6" 3-ways, blue, $90, 4/5

Rear speakers: Pioneer 6" 2-ways, blue, $60, 2/5

Sub/s: Kicker 10" in sealed box, $140, rating 3/5

Amp/s: Kicker K150.4 driving fronts and sub, ?$200, 4/5

Overall: Good cheap bang-for your-buck system, wanted decent clarity and tight bass response on a budget, without sharing my music with everyone in a 10km radius. The rears are pretty average but still better than the OEM crap you get on most 90's Jap cars. The only thing I would change are getting split fronts and putting the 3-ways in the rear. Oh and the ergonomics of the Sony head unit are awful, I like dials that you turn not crappy rocker switches, and the gaps in between MP3 tracks annoy me. But for $180 new I wasn't going to argue! It gets too loud at the point at which you're pushing too much distortion through the speakers so I can't complain about the volume levels. Can't justify spending $1K on a "system" when that'll buy so much other fun engine stuff... :D

Head Unit: Alpine CDA-9815 CD/Mp3

Front Speakers: MB Quartz RCE 216

Rear Speakers: None

Subs: 2 x 15" Rockford Power

Amps: Alpine MRV-1005 for the front speakers and Alpine MRV-1505 for the subs

I love bass. My setup is perfect for it. In my previous car (Pulsar N13) I peaked it at 143.9dB (untuned in a sealed box)

I haven't had it tested in this car yet as it's a basic setup with the subs in a false floor in the boot, not sealed. I'm currently looking at having them put into a custom enclosure in the boot but have other priorities that are preventing me from achieving this yet!

Jason.

Head Unit: Kenwood MP3 $250

Front speakers: Jaycar response Kevlar splits $130 front doors fully sound deadend and sealed.

Rear speakers: None

Sub/s: 1 10" $60 old stock Response sub in a custom 4th order enclosure ( took me 15 hrs to design and build)

Amp/s: 2x85 Jaycar for front splits $100 , 2x150 Jaycar for sub $200

I got most of this gear on special ( its already cheap tho) just to see what I can do with cheap gear and a proper installation, it was all in my subaru till I recently bought the skyline, to which it will be installed soon, but when it is up and running it sounds great - reallt loud without being harsh, plenty of nice fast, puncy bass, im really happy with it :D

Head Unit: Pioneer DEH-P8650

Front speakers: Rockford Fosgate FNX-6214 Components

Rear speakers: Rockford Fosgate 6.5" 3way Punch Coax

Sub/s: Rockford Fosgate P3 DVC 12"

Amp/s: Rockford Fosgate P4004 (for speakers) and Rockford Fosgate P3001 (for sub)

What a nightmare R32 4door skylines are for sound systems... took me a while to get the car sound deaden'd, and to make custom mounts for the amps, sub box and front speakers... actually, the only easy thing in the car was the rears... still, results are what counts and I am really happy with the sounds now...

Decided to do a mock up of mine too. Theres no specific reason why i want alpine components except that i like theyre head units and theyre speakers are just as good, if not better, as pioneer or any of the similar priced brands.

-Alpine F540 4 channel amp running the splits.

-Alpine M1005 mono block running sub

-Alpine X-Type 12" subwoofer (which shakes the hell out of everything)

    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
    • Final update!!! Got the front bar fitted and sprayed and all sorted now. My cutouts worked great and the indicators aren’t just falling off. 😂
