Engine - Loud Whine

the car has a whine when running/idle

coming from engine bay

can barely hear exhaust from the brack

also my cars loosing power intermittently (wondering if this may be connected)

probably a real bad description

but ask me anything you would like to help the situation

track the source of the whine

fire it up, open the bonnet and determine where the "whine" is coming from

also check your catalytic converter (cat) has not collapsed in on itself

If your not real handy or mechanically minded take to a mech and get them to come out and check it out - advice is normally free

think its more the pitch of the noise of the engine (but i have a feeling it is a leak/crack somewhere)

will open it again and have a better sus of the engine bay

how would i check if the cat has collapsed?

blocked cat could make sense why im having intermittent power loss as well

is there a way to check

Take cat out and look at it.

Probably not your problem.
