  1. okay mate. i'll dignify you with a response. like i said. "misinterpreting my comments as stating ALL R34 turbos are steel. you've clearly demonstrated with your own turbos that they arent ALL steel and i therefor stand corrected" mate i'm not going to get into a debate over something so whimsical. you proved your point. i proved mine (that there is differences between r34 turbos disregarding n1 spec turbos in SOME CASES). your time is much appreciated in what should've been a "discussion". so cheers!
  2. pm sent mate! cheers
  3. i'm not going to "look" at them at all. i am basing my answers purely on the knowledge i've gleaned from various publications and online research. like i said, i'm happy to accept that i'm wrong IF I AM WRONG, but don't get your knickers in a knot by misinterpreting my comments as stating ALL R34 turbos are steel. you've clearly demonstrated with your own turbos that they arent ALL steel and i therefor stand corrected and indeed i am the one smoking funny stuff... .... BUT!!! what of the cars that DO have steel wheels? what numbers were released from the factory with steel-wheeled turbos? were they the same basic turbocharger or did they have different sized wheels hence different airflow characteristics??? and most importantly, WHY did nissan change to steel wheels on certain models (if they did) and what're the results. this IS a forum not a scrag-fight and should be a learning experience for all. cheers! d
  4. if the ceramic "dust" issue truly does exist, then i have no problems in admitting my sources were wrong. the debate it seems will continue and regarding the exhaust wheel materials, i'm going to do more research into this matter because i refuse to believe that its a simple wrong/right answer. it is entirely possible that nissan spec'd different turbos on different r34's but i'll try to get to the bottom of it. a safe assumption we can conclude from this debate is to CHECK before you boost your car. if there is evidence of ceramic -or- steel wheels in these turbos its better to be safe than sorry. cheers d
  5. redline lightweight shockproof in my box. can't remember specifically which fluids went into the diffs. d
  6. haha fair enough... not exactly what you said to me tho cheers d
  7. fair enough, but i'll believe it when i see it. it seems odd to me that it happens to some engines and not others tho. i'm sure that there's been literally thousands upon thousands of cars that have spat the turbine wheels yet this "phenomenon" isn't well doccumented. i've done a search and came up with not a lot.... like i said, i'd like to be proven wrong once again. cheers! david
  8. i'm happy to stand corrected if it truly be the case.... if that is so i'll accept it no problems, but who's got it wrong. now by no means is zoom/hpi even close to the definitive source of answers cos i disagree with a lot of what they publish... however : to quote martin donnon: thoughts? d
  9. ooh ooh ooh. nice nice! B) d
  10. car s**t!!!! hehehe you know they appreciate monogomy....
  11. for 12.5k you could have stroker cranks and wild internals man....
  12. 10. djhatton sexy blue beast if the traitor hasnt sold it wink.gif i resent that!
  13. when you say "blew" what do you mean? what amp were you running. i only ask because i'm yet to see speakers that just "blow". my guess is that your amp went into clipping (passing DC) which fried your speakers. if you replaced bose speakers with jaycar units in a "lifestyle" system i'm not in the least bit surprised that they blew. the impedance of bose speakers is completely different to anything else out there on the market! trust me i know! (i work for bose ) otherwise, for the money, a select few of the jaycar drivers aren't too bad for what they're designed to do. you just gotta chose the right ones. don't expect them to compete with the danes, but they're not bad.... d
  14. what do they talk to? the ecu or separate sensors or both and are they ecu dependent? i.e. mfd off r32 standard ecu?? d

  16. amaru on these very forums bought tomei baffles and will never use them. apparently they're garbage. he had custom ones made up. d
  17. what crack are you smoking? the r34 standard turbos are steel wheeled. this is WELL doccumented. 1 bar is easy for these things here and they will hold together no problems. you lose efficiency if you start to run too much through them but 1.2-1.3 bar would be a walk in the park. and i've yet to see proof of an engine "sucking" a shattered exh. wheel back into an engine. from what i've heard this is an unsubstantiated rumour started by some workshops that wanted to sell people uprated turbos. d
  18. $7k is only good value for money if its good quality work. the last thing you want to do is have to spend that money again with another workshop to have them do it all again. this next workshop might change you $5 or $10 or whatever to fix the previous mistakes. just be careful. there are a lot of shonky workshops out there. d
  19. i use motul 8100 in my engine (i'd use chrono if it was in any higher state of tune) but i change it so regularly, i dont think its too much of an issue. i pay $50odd for a sump full of 8100. chrono is more like $120ish from memory. i used redline oils in my diffs and gearbox and i will NEVER use anything else. that stuff is liquid gold. d
  20. i too am having problems selling my car. its disheartening but its the way it is. used cars aren't much fun to sell... d
  21. imho you'd be FAR better off to have something built for those moneys. you could probably build a n1 spec block with all the fruit for less money....
  22. love the colour. love the "effect" created and love the rims. just the proportions are wrong. be interesting to see what it was made out of and how it was mounted. my guess is its full of bog. d
  23. oh and spotted mick (r31det) on lanyon drv on your way home. i was in a zoom zoom mazda 323 so i'm not all that surprised if you didn't spot me back! d
  24. if you post that photo i'll have your balls in a blender nick. i promise!
