We used a wideband, the AFRs looked fine there - Status' comment about timing explains a lot. Cheers Status, that was very interesting! Strangely enough, my Skyline never did the same thing - however I don't believe I reached the airflow levels GotRice? is. Gotrice? - lol.

Pretty sure there is a big thread in the forced induction area which was going strong very recently.... <edit - found it: Look harder next time >

The Split Pulse Turbocharger Thread
Lithium replied to Dale FZ1's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Wow, that looks laggy -
GT3076R internal gate sounds fine for what you want, I'm still having lots of fun with mine - feels great on the track. Big torque between 4000-7500rpm and very progressive and responsive under foot, makes 301wkw and holds within few kw of peak power to redline even on the stock motor. I've not had a single person drive or go in mine who haven't been impressed by the power delivery of it.

Awesome, will be interesting to see how it goes PSI Parts- what displacement are you going to be running again? I approve of all the options I have looked at, for what its worth on a 3litre I am completely sold on the Borg Warner S300SX 83-75. I'm not convinced it will be any better than a GT35R performance wise, but price and also having a turbo which sound like a fighter jet I have to confess to being big attractions. I have no doubt that spool would be more than sufficient, and they clearly flow nice. If you're willing to spend the extra, the 1.06TS GT35R is an amazing piece of kit - have experienced one first hand in a "2.4litre" EVO and the thing is a complete animal from surprisingly low revs. -
This is all really good to know - awesome, cheers for sharing! Do a 0-100km run! I have nothing in 1st from about 3500-4000rpm and 2nd gear isn't flash.
-
So the fastest 0-100k time so far is around 4.6-4.7? I can't remember what mine is, I think its around that mark too.... haven't tried doing it since I finally tuned the car though.

Need Help Identify These Turbos
Lithium replied to Tomei_Powered's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
At a glance I'd say theres a good chance its a Turbonetics T66 and a Garrett GT3071R - got a pic of the CHRA # on the core of the Garrett? If you have any way of measuring it, the inducer of the compressor wheel (the only bit of the compressor you can see through the turbo inlet) should be about 66mm on the Turbonetics turbo and the Garrett will be 53mm if its a GT3071R. Cheers -

I have been around here for a while, so hopefully people know that I'm not that stupid or full of shxt so will put my neck out. There are always ways the above can happen - depends on a variety of variables. My flatmates NON-Type R Integra (RIP little track weapon ) used to frequently deal to a lot of much more powerful cars, often due to driver experience, the Integra being easier to drive, the GTRs/other cars being under tyred/braked, the drivers not wanting to thrash the crap out of it, and of course the fact that light Hondas can stop and turn really really well when they have decent tyres and brakes on them. That thing with 120-130wkw seriously dealt to 300+kw GTRs on a few occasions ON THE TRACK, higher corner exit speeds etc count for so much. The car ran 14flat 1/4miles, so no rocket ship... but was competitive as a track car. Anyone seen the first American Touge video when an NA Civic showed up and dominated the field? On the topic of STIs, I know a few people who have run mid 12s with filter and exhaust. -

LOL yeah they are an awesome gimmick! Given the choice I'd definitely take the gimmick, from what I've seen of their track etc results -

Lithium replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
LOL what a load of rubbish, seriously man. Its the gearing/4WD etc that does it for the STI. R32s are heavier than S14s (when running their original motors) and with like for like power, they go plenty well enough to give the S14s a bit of a run. If there is anything in it regarding torque, its probably more to do with that the SR20s have quite a long stroke compared to RB20s. -
Skyline R33 Gts-t Hks Gt2835 Pro S Vs Sti
Lithium replied to Turbz RB-25's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
A high power GTS25t will, but not a 190wkw one vs a 190wkw STI. The reality of the matter is the 190wkw STI has more aggressive gearing, lighter weight and more torque because of the sheer amount of boost they need to run to make that kind of power - and as such will basically beat the R33 everywhere but off boost. -

I think you'd be in for one hell of a reality check at the dragstrip! -
Yeah that angers me, their drag rims and seat have gone - really hope this doesn't screw over their plans to go to Oz and defend their title against Mark.

The Garrett Gt30r Thread - Lots Of Info And Q's
Lithium replied to The Mafia's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Its definitely going to make it build less, not more aggressively when I remove it - the curve will be more consistant. Strangely it doesn't seem to behave the way it appeared to on the dyno on the road.... Not sure what was up with that. -

Lithium replied to The Mafia's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I know this is probably annoying for you, honestly it was for me too and its all my fault - so sorry about this. I have never removed the PRV as I don't have some vacuum hose long enough to reach from the wastegate to the boost source... the PRV has been spliced into my old one since I got it. I went and grabbed some the other day and went to put it on for the dyno tune (which was booked at the last moment) and found it didn't fit. The result of that is the PRV keeps snapping open and closed and stuffing up the boost curve and makes it not a realistic representation For what its worth, when the PRV settles down the boost holds very very stable - I am going to get some vacuum hose that suits and am being hassled into putting my car on a dyno day in a couple of weeks so may end up just giving in to that without the valve and seeing what that does to the curve. I'll post the boost plot from that I didn't even bother getting this one printed. -

Lithium replied to The Mafia's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I used a Dynapack hub dyno, they read higher than DD - its not magically higher but enough to make a difference. I don't know what the difference is, the one I did 300kw on is thought of by a few (who are used to Dynapacks) consider it a heart breaker for hub dynos but still no DD style heart breaker. -

FINALLY. Pulled finger, organised some dyno time with my car for tomorrow... tuning it myself. Fingers crossed all goes smooth and I can post a proper dyno chart for this thing! Hasn't been dyno tuned in YEARS! -
World Fastest Full Trim Skyline Gtr ?

Does "JUN" fit this list? -
I have been keeping an eye on the progress of entrants for this, gutted none of my mates in NZ are keen for the trip over - not keen on a loner trip, otherwise there is a good chance I'd be in Oz with bells on. Looks like a once in a life time combination of cars at one event. Look forward to hearing about the results, hope some good footage comes from it!

Haha very true, its all relative - I have driven a couple of pretty "healthy" stock turbo RB25 powered cars over the last month or so and my beasty feels like a bit of an animal afterwards, lots of fun. Just be aware that sooner or later too much is still not enough...
