gtr clutches??
RB30-POWER replied to tommy kiara r32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The gearbox will hold up fine with a big clutch if your on street tyres anyway, it will break traction before it transmits enough torque to break the box. On the sticky rubber though, who knows how long it will last... -
Is pinging capable of producing more power?
RB30-POWER replied to RB20ZED's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah ok, i understand what you said. But to even get a little bit of pinging, wouldn't you be to close to the edge, if something changed a little, lower ron fuel for example, the light pinging will change to major pinging? But anyway, what you said is probally true, not doubting that. But who the hell would want an extra 3kw by putting their motor on the edge, i wouldnt beleive any tuner would tune to that extreme? Maybe good for a dyno/power run to impress your mates, enhance the figures a little -
Assorted RB20/25 engine parts
RB30-POWER replied to BHDave's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Gordon, My understanding is it will bolt straight onto an RB20. You just have to rotate the hosuing a little. (Undo a few bolts) The turbo will give more midrange punch and make the motor pull all the way to its redline, rather than dwindling away like the stock RB20 turbo. Best of all if you only run moderate boost pressures your factory ecu will cope fine, but more punch from the larger turbo obviously. The only thing you should double check is that the snout on the compressor outlet has the same bolt spacing/pattern as the rb20, because i can't see a snout included in the pics included. $400 is a great price too. If you run a search you will find plenty of info, confirming preety much of what i have said. If you want to PM just click the username on the left handside and the little java box will pop down for the options -

Highest boost on stock turbo?
RB30-POWER replied to DezertEagle's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I read so many people with missing cars and having to gap the plugs down. If you have to gap them down, you must have a faulty ignition system i would say. It does seem to be common that the coils crap themselves. I thought SK said once before, that if you run more boost than factory setting, the ecu goes into "Rich and Retard Mode" and you have to advance the base timing up to 20deg btdc to counteract the ecu retarding the ignition. Or was that just Series 1 cars? The other thing, where does the factory turbo run out of its efficiency range? No need to boost beyond this point as the extra heat will counteract the extra boost pressure. -
ahh woops, my bad

Is pinging capable of producing more power?
RB30-POWER replied to RB20ZED's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Also advancing the CAS on an RB20DET wouldn't be recommended, its already tuned for high octane Jap fuel as it is. And as you know even our premium is pissweak, wouldnt even get ya high. -
Is pinging capable of producing more power?
RB30-POWER replied to RB20ZED's topic in General Automotive Discussion
You make maximum power, just before detonation or pinging occurs. Usually a tuner will add timing advance until he hits the detonation point, then retard it a few degress. Detonation will kill your car very very quickly. -

lol, does anyone know his realname. If i ring and ask for a hitman, who knows where it could lead.....

Sounds like he has the laptop software, so he wouldnt need the controller. Your crazy if you dont have one though, the readouts are invaluable.

Thanks anyway joel. I'll post some pics when i pick the set up, incase it helps someone else.

What note belongs to Skylines ?
RB30-POWER replied to elbee111's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I reckon its fairly easy to pick up RB engined cars going past by the engine note, they sound so horn -
Hey Guys, Can i get a VRS kit for the RB25DE (R32 non-vct version) ? That way i will have the correct head gasket for the conversion. (Gasket without VCT oil hole) Or have you guys got the VRS kit for the RB25 VCT version, then spent another $70 on the RB30 headgasket and thrown the RB25 gasket away? Thanks for your help.

Help Needed With Reaching My GOAL!
RB30-POWER replied to curly_fry_44's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The GCG high flows are rated at 450 or 500hp on their website, and because of the steel wheels you can run high boost all day every day. You do pay for them though, but like everything, more power means more money. Great thing is though it retains internal gate, bolts straight back up and you won't get defected from mr plod. -
Show us your engine bay thread!
RB30-POWER replied to RB30-POWER's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Looks good ylwgtr2, is that the factory red colour that GTR's have or custom? What do you guys reckon, do the rb motors look better with the upper cam/timing cover on or left off, mine is a vvt engine? Less chance of mincing fingers with it on, but what looks best? Jolinator, send your pics to my email and ill host them for you. Anyone else send them as well and ill host them up here. Pictures to iinet-dsl-user@iinet.net.au Cheers Mick -
Hey Guys, Im am about to get my engine detailed/painted, before i assemble it and was hoping you would have some photos of either your own engine bay or other hot looking ones. So come on, dont be shy, show us your engine bay so I can get some idea's, because I spent half hour going through the SAU gallery and only found a few average photos.

Question on RB25 Series 1/2 AFM & ECU
RB30-POWER replied to RB30-POWER's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
What did the RB20 have, a 5 pin plug? Looking at the diagram, even on the 5 pin AFM's, one of the pins is not utilized? There is two Green Label AFM's right, one 4 pin and one 5 pin? And the resolution is the same between all these AFM's? (i.e x amount of air = y amount of voltage, with the x and y being the same values on all of the air flow meters.) Just trying to clarify a few things once and for all -
Blitz Iridium Plugs - Bargain Price

Hey Guys, I understand that the Series 2 RB25DET has a different plug on the air flow meter as compared to the Series 1 item. The Series 2 has 3 pins? How many has the Series 1 got? On the wiring diagrams i have, they only show 3 pins in use. (Maybe its a Series 2 diagram?) If they had different amount of pins/connections how can a powerfc be used on either series? What i am getting at is, can i use a Series 1 AFM on a series 2 ECU, if i change the plug? Do the series 1 and 2 AFM both have the same resolution? i.e 0-5v scaling Also while we are at it, does anyone have specifics if the series 2 ecu has better maps than the series 1? What was changed between the two, anything?
