  1. Thats one nice looking V-Spec 400R rear looks great! be sure to post your decisions and results.
  2. not exactly, you can get lowered springs at any spring rate you want. If its going to be a show car then the ride shouldnt be an issue but with coilovers being as cheap as they are its prob easier to just get a set and have easy height adjustability.
  3. Dont do burn outs just fast windy roads. Would the clutch last?. Its good that you dont do burnouts, they are pretty hard to do in a 33gtr Since you havent mentioned the clutch it could be assumed its stock? If so you could try your luck but definitly budget for an upgrade. It may already be an upgrade item your not aware of. Sounds like you have a pretty good plan. I doubt you could go wrong with any of your choices of turbos, you just have to choose. People will tell you pro's and cons about each of them, but i have also heard that the trust's are awesome and are capable of more top end should you ever get bored. As in gun32's post, dont forget the fuel system.
  4. Looks like a good idea, has anyone seen or used them? Any cons to a system like this? (apart from the price) http://www.topsecretjpn.com/roberuta.shtml
  5. These are ENGINE FIGURES, not rear wheel figures. Plus they would not be running pump 98 with 2bar boost. And it certainly wouldnt outperform a T04Z in "every way" as the the 0.86 rear t04z would be a more usable street turbo than the 1.00 rear t51.
  6. ^^ lol What is your intended use?
  7. think i remember seeing brand new 25 boxes for 3500.. id much rather buy new than pay 2grand for a 2nd hand one that is 'supposedly' good condition! also i have a 25 box with GTR internals but i didnt do the swap myself so i dont know if there are any complications regarding swapping. Seeing as the OS cross mission set drops straight into either box, id say it would be straightforward?
  8. I was considering ceramic coating it also! But then it really starts to add up cost wise. The guy that did my manifold told of a stock SR manifold that whilst on the dyno would glow red, and once ex honed, it would not glow, due to the smoother passage of air and less friction/restriction. This would mean less heat radiated from the mani and lower underbonet temps, i could only imagine ceramic coating making the situation even cooler! Yet doesnt the process cost around as much as the honing process itself? depending on how long it takes me to organise to get the manifold put back on, if some spare dollars come up i may yet do it, as id ultimately like to make the stock mani as good as it could possibly be before bolting it all back up! Any comments on my after results? Whilst the runners dont flow as consistent as the HKS mani, the overall figures are higher than those posted for an HKS extrude honed mani. Does this mean that my stock item is now as good if not better than an HKS one, or even an ex honed HKS one??!@ HKS ex honed avg 201 Stock ex honed avg 202
  9. ahh the beauty of modified OEM Sorry to say that it may be a while before i can show you on-car results, as i am not in the same country as my car, and have to organise other people to do stuff for me..
  10. the HKS mani looks nice.. id get one but stock appearance is a priority in SA! anyway here's the results of the port job, im quite happy with the end figures, pics to follow.
  11. personally im not a fan of any short shifters ive tried... i found them notchy and requiring more effort to shift gears. Its not like i cant bang a stock shifter through quick enough!
  12. a possibly even cheaper option is getting your old LSD shimmed up.. but yes you have a viscous LSD
  13. whats the price of each model? The KU15 looks like a more serious traction tyre, if it were me id give them a try.. ive also tried the 104's..
  14. Hi guys, got the stock extrude honed manifold back, apparently it looks sweet (i havent seen it yet) brother is getting some pics and i'll post results in detail, with before and after pics. lowest flowing runner is now 190, highest is 220. Details to come.... cheers
  15. The GT2530's are still considered an awesome street turbo. Indeed they are tried and tested, and will support quite big power whilst retaining response. Just search for the Mines Ultimate R34 on youtube and you can see the 2530's at their best! They are however old now (dont think you can even buy new ones) and the GT-SS's are more responsive, but wont support the top end power quite like the 2530's do. Whilst the classification of "street turbo setup" sounds quite specific, it is still gonna vary quite a lot between individuals. For example i am building myself what i consider a nice "street" R33 GTR at the moment, which will be pushing something like a TO4z to its limit. The TO4z has been getting consistently impressive results of power and response, so guess you could say its also tried and tested... so yes if you can say roughly what power you'd like, the suggestion of turbos will be more specific.
  16. LOL why'd you blank the speed out
  17. i did a fair bit of poking around about this set before i bought mine (i got the 5 gear set w/input shaft). I am yet to install it, but from what i know, it drives like a stock box, no clunking, grinding, noises, etc. First gear is a fair bit taller which ive been told makes a full out launch easier because you dont have to scramble to grab second. I think first does close to 100km/hr. There was something in HPI magazine (GTR special) stating that the gears themselves will handle (and im not sure on this figure) 1000hp, but that the synchro nature limits you to 9grand rpm(?), and something about 800hp.. Note Im pulling those figures out of my head as i dont have the magazine here and i read it all a long time ago! Im sure someone has it on hand and can confirm. Whatever it was i remember being a bit concerned as i was going to run 800hp plus, but then after reading the article i thought it'd be ok. We will see! Any of you looking to buy a set off the net from a private seller, it may be worth mentioning the infamous Harris OS gearset scam I wonder if it has yet caught up with the good old "Harris's", lol
  18. lol, i was gonna say id almost buy em coz they look cool Im yet to pick some tyres for my GTR, these seem well worth looking into. Ive used RE55s, and absolutely loved them, on street and track (i hear Yoko AO48R's even sh!t on the RE55s) but the bridgies definitly needed heat in them!! I have a local route id drive and usually the tires would be warmed up at the end of it, but once i went out and didnt take into account the colder than usual temperature of the day, and upon finishing my usual "warm up course" i threw her semi hard into a corner i normally have no probs with, and she understeered straight up onto the median strip and into the flower bed, lol.
  19. Mine doesnt really hit its swing till 4grand. what boost are you running? I think mine can see 19psi by 4grand, then falls to 16-17. Although you can really feel the torque coming on just after 3grand.
  20. no i bought the turbo as a kit. but i buy so much sh!t i cant remember details like that, plus it was a long time ago lol. makes 280rwkw at 16.5psi. Have poncams and internals
  21. i have the turbo off the car right now, how do i tell what a/r the exhaust is? it certainly doesnt say it anywhere on the turbo... think its the 0.6x version
  22. Hi rev210, i see you are reading. What are you thinking?
  23. as stated no worries. Ive had a 2530 and now the 2835proS on my car, and the down pipe (which bolted up to a stock dump when i bought the car) matched perfectly the HKS dump for each turbo. its a wicked turbo, lots of fun ahead for you
  24. hadnt thought of that, the only reason we did the manifold now was coz we had the turbo off due to defect, so while we were there... I dont feel that the car needs more power, i think its more a matter of interest whether we can see some more kw's from improving a stock component Ive always thought the stock inlet mani did a pretty good job. We'll see how we go with the exh mani results!
  25. Lol mine has just been done! ~500. Average 34cfm increase each runner, can get some pics later, its in the mail coming back to me now. Main reason i did this was to retain the factory look when i have to pop the bonnet. made 281rwkw before, will be interesting to see if i can get any decent improvement.
