  1. Haha, yes they are! crazy prices hey. You could fill out all corners of your car in awesome yoko A048R semi slicks for the price of a pair!!! That said the michelin pilot sport range has given me some incredible experiences on the road in all conditions, but certainly you are paying for the premium catagory, as these tyres are fitted OEM to high end supercars/supersaloons where the budget is obviously much higher. can you give a review on the sport maxx's? what did you end up paying? Im mostly interested in how they hook up in a straight line... yes the hankooks are a cheap tyre. Yes you can have legal low profile rubber for a good price, but knowing you get what you pay for, unless you like drifting or dont demand much from a tyre, spending a bit more is always advisable IMO!
  2. Sorry Geoff, could you please explain a bit further as im getting lost here! the above ratio's are 32/33gtst vs 33GTRbrembo's correct? So the GTR brembo setup has less front bias than the gtst setup? or are you just quoting area and nothing to do with bias? Once i upgrade my GTR brakes to AP/Alcon or whatever, i planned to swap the GTR brembo setup front and rear onto my GTSt. Will this be ok? regarding the master diameter, does this just mean that my GTSt with GTR brembos will have a softer pedal feel with longer travel? (unless i change to a GTR master, is this necessary?) thanks
  3. it would very much depend on the application, ie rb20/25/30 and the turbo, ie when the turbo is coming on boost. but due to the torque/stall converter in the auto it will give you instantly more revs earlier than a manual hence build boost quicker, not to mention it is easier to load an auto car up on its converter (equivalent to holding the car on the handbrake and slipping the clutch) and get boost happening.. throw a higher stall converter in the autobox and the effect is increased. Whilst your rolling and have some revs/load on board theres prob not as much difference i would say..
  4. I must have the 0.68 housing then. that sounds about right now... I too will stick with it as its just right for the street and should cut some nice 11's with the right traction! Dangerman thats a great result! so how much bigger is this turbo than a HKS 3037proS? given the fact that on a manual car the HKS will see 320+rwkw, and yours if it was manual a touch more?!
  5. whilst i know nothing about making an rb30, seeing as there is a sticky on it using the rb30 block, id say that you cant just throw a rb30 crank into a 25!
  6. im fairly sure i remember 320rwkw from someones 3037, no way from a 2835!
  7. Hey cruiseliner, i think i remember the pic of your billet crank back in the day when there were about 3 threads running about stroker rb26 buildups!! Full boost under 5grand sounds wicked! thats nearly on par with my old 2530setup yet with HEAPS more power potential. Please PM me whatever info/dyno graphs you have, as i am very close to buying the TO4Z. I didnt realise the HKS version had a slightly bigger inlet, thanks. When will you be unleashing full grunt to see what it can really do? PS; oh and Gav, Im still sore from the Harris Scam! never saw any $$ back... anyway, have bought another OS CM gearset!
  8. yes apologies for the OT! Grepin did have cams, although they werent poncams i dont think. I seem to remember something about him going a solid lifter setup a-la GTR style?!! maybe im wrong but he def had cams of some sort... I didnt get mine with the kit.
  9. Grepin went to fairly extreme measures to get that 300rwkw, like practically having to jam closed the wastegate from what i remember! my 280rwkw was made with a small front mount and 3inch exhaust, i have just fitted a HKS type-R FMIC off of my GTR to replace the little hybrid, plus a 3 1/2 inch exhaust. Once its off defect (very soon!) i will put the good bits back on and re-tune and see what happens. if grepin has the 0.87 and totally maxed it at 300rwkw, then isnt it likely that mine is the same housing, seeing as i got close to 300 without really screwing it for max power? How much difference in peak power is the housing gonna make? Mine also doesnt hit hard till 4000rpm, which housing would that fact indicate?? im thinking if i do have the 0.68 and it doesnt hit hard till 4grand, then on an RB20 it would be laggy as hell! Seeing how you guys are saying the .68 is good on an rb20, it would lead me to think its a 0.87... yet something in my mind remembers 0.68 fron when i ordered it... why cant it just have the damn number on the housing!!
  10. I have my 2835proS off my RB25 at the moment, and reading about the ex housing sizes went to check what mine actually was, as i forget since i bought it! There is nothing on the housing but HKS stamped in it, how do i find out if its the 0.68 or 0.87? car made 280+rwkw with poncams at about 16psi, boost at peak wont hold any higher than that, and tuner tells me its pretty much pushing its max...
  11. while you may not find a brand new HKS 2530, ive been in a r32 making a decent 220rwkw with one, and the thing was so responsive with no drop off at top end, i couldnt believe it compared to other stock turboed r32's that ive driven. very impressive. maybe getting a bit old school now but still tried and tested!! cant go wrong.
  12. where are you located? what boost you running and is that the most you can get from your setup? what crank are you using for those 9800rpms? So you just got the turbo, mani and wastegate for 6500? i think the full kit includes every other little bit and piece you need, correct? I can order directly from japan via a contact, but yeah the taxes on taxes add a bit to the final price. if you were to go into a retail shop in australia and quote the full kit, im sure youd be looking at 10grand! ridiculous!!!
  13. Thanks for that Gav! How are the GTRS's going for you? feeling the need for more yet!!!???
  14. yeah i agree but we never intended going the bigger housing... A user on this forum made 467rwkw (just over 600rwhp?) using the garret to4z 0.81, with average power that would put most of the larger twins needed to make that power to shame! Plus i hear that when your making that sort of power, surging with twins is an issue... anyone got any leads on the cheapest source for a HKS to4z Full Kit? i think nengun's is about 7500ish they say "delivered" but its bound to get slugged import duty, which means your not gonna get a whole lot of change from ten grand! I managed to get my step 2 HKS 2.8 stroker kit for well less than that! just checked for r33 GTR, T04z full kit is $7334 delivered on nengun. Can someone tell me the exact %age import duty that applies as i forget? cheers
  15. im completely with you and ditto your above post! ive been umming and arring for months now on what turbo to use! Im fairly sure about the HKS to4z .81, like you simply because i want the name, but am also curious as to whether it will possibly be any better than the garret version. The only problem im having is the price of the full HKS kit.
  16. lol, im in Hong Kong so it was only 12:30am here Hmmmm.. i did try 4.3 ratio in my car once.. already enough wheelspin wit the 4.11's! Think 4.11's are a good match with my setup, its not laggy enough to really bog in 1st, and once its rolling, and can stretch its legs its goodbye to whoever's next to me (95% of the time)
  17. gee what are you boys doing up at 2am on tuesday night?! As it stands Nozilla its yours (provided your stock diff isnt fu(ked ) speak to my bro tomorrow, cheers
  18. current situation: car is defected, putting it back to stock. Nearly everything is done but i have a diff that was shimmed up about 6 months ago at Tilbrooks. It is very tight and works as well as the 2-way cusco i had in there before. Perfect for anyone wanting more drift/traction ability over a stock or worn LSD. So therefore anyone with a worn standard viscous LSD, heres a free choice for you, we'll straight swap em. Alternatively, anyone with a standard R33 diff for sale, i am looking to purchase. Cheers. edit: i see my brother has already posted similar request for diff and baby restraint bolts!
  19. hey dude, nice! how are the tyres going for you? is that stock ride height? I cant wait to get my gtr back on the road!!!!!!
  20. Hi Gav, long time! How are the GTRS's serving you so far, still chuffed with the choice?! The big question IS: now that youve had them a while, are you used to the power and thinking that you could use more!!!!?? obviously your pretty much at the top of the low mount twin food chain!
  21. now i cant be sure but it sounds like he just wants to sell you his possibly stock-piled sumitomo's! that isnt a bad price per tire but having said that i havent tried them so cant comment on their quality! The reason i think he may be trying to sell you the sumi's is that pilot sports are gonna be in a different league altogether, and most likely a different league in price as well!! The sumi's sound like a good-for-the-price-tyre and im guessing prob around the federal SS595 spec for that price, but the p.sports, they are completely awesome. And i found braking performance in the wet to be unreal! thats where they really impressed me. I should state that i used the pilot sports on a E class merc (heavier than a GTS-t) with abs. After the pilot sports i put on the then new Yoko C.Drive's, and they were a step back in performance. The Pilot sports as expensive as they are, offered awesome turn in, progressive break away, and great braking. Whether that extra performance is worth the premium over the economical sumi's depends on what your after really... One things for sure, Pilot Sport II's are going on the merc next! Heard great things about them. cheers.. tyre choice is never easy with everyone telling you this and that plus the dealer trying to sell you this and that
  22. well if this is the case then you'll prob be happy with them. I was coming from an angle of hard driving, but as mentioned, straight line accel and comfort is decent.. what are the specs of the beast? sorry if youve posted them already, i havent been browsing for a while! really 700hp?!
  23. Yes im completely aware they are a whole different class of tyre, thats why i added "another fact to bear" is that i had used them. i was running the hankooks with my GTR making 500ish HP and felt it deserved much better rubber, but yes unfortunately price plays a factor but i feel its worth mentioning that an extra grand on top of a set of tyres is nothing if it keeps you out of the bushes! And like i said, he may like them and we all expect different things, they were comfy to drive around on and werent bad straightline acel in the wet. be interested to hear his review, and see some pics!! cheers
