  1. Oh damn, i was just going to advise against the K104's!! I have a brand new set of them on my GTR, and i sorry to say but i was a bit shocked by the braking and turn in!!! Understeer city when asked to change the 1500kg whales direction in a hurry! And braking, they kept losing traction causing the ABS to keep coming in so much that the car kept going!! Ok my braking example is when asking a lot of them, but the understeering example i noticed even on just spiritly driving. Another fact to bear is that im used to RE55's on my gtst. But dude at the end of the day if you have anywhere near 700HP, i would forget about all but the very top street tyres such as conti's michelin and pirelli. Any keen for a review of your own, let us know what you think, as we all drive differently and expect different things from our cars!! cheers.
  2. you stick 2x HKS 2530's on an rb26 and may still not make 600hp at the fly, no way a stocky will come close on an rb25. if they could im sure GCG would be selling them like hotcakes.
  3. i also agree with the one boost setting, 99% of the time.. the only time i drop my boost down is if its a stinking hot day or i get knock via bad fuel etc... other than that running low boost just feels sluggish, yet so many people love the idea of a "low" setting for most of the time. if im on low boost and need to put my foot down it will usually mean i want full power! its quite interesting to see the difference the 1.00 housing has next to R32-GTS's 0.81 housing. from the graph you lose out quite a lot down low correct? On a rb26, Is the idea of going the 1.00 over the .81 housing so that you can get more peak power? In this case it would seem that running max ~25psi, you would be better off with the 0.81 housing and get much more average power?
  4. ok so what you guys are saying is that if i dont plan to run avgas and push the turbo to its absolute limits then the garret will be just as good as the hks to4? True a lot was spent on a nice bottom end and someone said just finish it off with HKS turbo, but thats the problem, the bottom end ate majority of the funds! and i still need cooler, zaust, injectors, plus a host of other stuff! At first it was a spare no expense operation, but now its scrimp and save time or we will never finish it off So saving a couple of grand on the whole turbo kit sounds good at the moment! Ive always been an HKS over garret person, but recent garret results are turning me... The figures some guys are putting out with garret stuff are very impressive.
  5. Sometimes I find HPI stuff really annoying... I mean just going by their comparo graph, someone trying to choose a turbo setup could really get the wrong idea there. Especially when you look at examples like R32-GTS's graph, you see how good the T04 can perform. Sorry i bring this up again, but from my understanding the TO4z HKS version only differs from the Garret version by having the extra holes in the compressor cover, supposedly to decrease spool time? Other than that the turbos are identical? Reason im asking is that ive decided to start with the tO4z on my rb28 instead of the T51R, and the HKS TO4Z kit prices are ridiculous at the moment!
  6. These are great seats with awesome support. far better than the many cheap immitations on the market at the moment.
  7. finally photos... seats are dusty from storage but otherwise excellent. As mentioned drivers seat could use a good wet vac clean.
  8. hi guys, i here these are quite desirable. I purchased them 6 months ago purely because they were there and id always fancied a pair! My interior is all custom trimmed black leather now and im totally happy with the stock GTR seats, so i have absolutely no use for them. Out of a late-ish model type R (DC5??). Passenger seat is perfect condition and has rails and runners for direct bolt in to s13 (or r32 i believe is same??) Driver seat has no rail/runner and needs a good clean. Seats are red with suade bolsters and fabric centres and are very tough looking. im after $1,100 or damn near close to it for the pair. In adelaide. I know you'll all want pics, and they will be up ASAP!! the seats have been in storage ever since i bought them and i havent got them out yet..
  9. i would most definitly say this turbo is too big for an rb20, it would be much laggier. To set up an rb20 to respond like a rb25 with 2835pro, you would want the hks2530. You are talking about a lower compression motor with a whole 500cc less, thats going to make a significant difference, and for a street car i wouldnt be doing it. "Physically it's not much bigger than the stock rb25 unit" - i would say it is significantly bigger, especially if your talking about one on a rb20!
  10. as said, if the motor has been recently rebuilt, a good way to kill it quickly would be to repeatedly take it over 8grand! besides, i think 9000rpm is about the limit of a synchro box anyway. Basically your turbos are way too big for a standard motor.
  11. i may be interested in the turbos, dumps and manifolds, but you would have to at least match the prices of greenline/nengun to make it attractive for me im afraid! are the mani's separates or bridged? cheers
  12. HKS cam gear BRAND NEW in box bought this a couple years ago for $250 at autobarn was going to put it on my ex cam on my rb25, but then purchased Poncams which dont require any cam timing adjustment, so have no use for it now. PICS: i think you all know what the purple HKS cam gears look like, its brand new in the box, so i dont think theres a need for pics. contact via pm or post here, prefer SA buyer but easy enough to post anywhere. $200 or offers cheers
  13. i have done tests with closed and WOT and found the same results, whats the difference supposed to be?!
  14. was told by a guy at A.R.E that the 57mm (i THINK) and above you cant fit the shroud. but that said, i have seen some monster FAT alloy radiators in 33 GTRs and still have the factory shroud attached!
  15. lol, you want the CHEAPEST and BEST? they do not really go hand in hand champ 300rwkw plus cheap and reliable? good luck! you will pretty much have to do EVERYTHING bar a full rebuild just to make that power let alone sustain it. every single support and power making part on your car will have to be changed, you name it: turbo, zorst, cooler, injectors, computer clutch fuel system. the only way you can save money is by getting either cheapest brands (in which case forget reliable) or finding second hand good stuff, which may take a while. good luck.
  16. so whats the deal here? Mik, people obviously think your are telling furfies, why would you want to post your results then lose credibilty for appearing like your not telling it as it is? My opinion is that the setup is making full boost far shy of 5000rpm, which would be some feat given other 2.6's with GTRS's make full boost (1.3bar for eg) at at least 5100, 5200. id love SK to drop his views, as once he has a look at the graphs and does his maths, all will be revealed!! dont get me wrong, not trying to bag your credibility, just would like to see all the facts.
  17. are you going to tell us how much boost was used for the run?
  18. looks great, love the black plenum with red Greddy emblem, will look hot in the car. nice touch with the plug cover, i was wondering where the emblem had gone!
  19. please continue 3 litre discussions here ..i believe it was johns OS motor that went to AED. ..i dont think the price for the OS 3 litre is by any means expensive if you plan on using its potential! cheers
  20. hi guys, dont want to ruin the mood in here but if youd like to discuss RB30's or OS 3 litres, please start a specific thread, thanks
  21. yeah this is true, but ive got it all sorted. see there's me mate, Dave, down the road, who builds killer motors in his kitchen, he'll throw it together for me for a carton or two . yeah the OS motor is a pearler, but you wouldnt expect anything less for its price.
  22. can anyone link to this thread? i cant find it via search. OVER 300rwkw from a GTRS is a very big ask, i will believe it only when i see the dyno graph! Thats over 500hp at the engine from a 400ps rated turbo. even with a conservative rating thats still a big ask!
  23. in relation to GTR's ive heard they make a noticeable difference in acceleration. Id have to feel it for myself tho before i go spending $4000+ on one! the stock one is ~15kg and the carbon one is half that. So i would agree, not exactly a bang for buck mod! Unless however you are at the stage where youve already exausted the most power-liberating bang for buck mods and want to go the next step. And if all your doing is eating XR8's, i highly doubt that is the case with your GTS xr8eater edit: the gtr ones im talking about are the trust ones as already mentioned, available from greenline, however they dont seem to have them listed for GTS.
  24. start by upgrading fuel pump and injectors to get the 250rwkw i mentioned above (may have to lose the "highflow" cat, as its probably not that highflow). might be possible to stretch the stock injectors with a FPR, as its rumoured that they actually flow around the same as r33 ones?!
