  18. the autronics and motecs are definetly more advanced ecus , but may offer features you dont need . Good results have been had from the ecus you mentioned . If you have a mechanic who you trust and he specialises in microtech and he can show you past results similar to what you want then go for it . you can find 2nd hand autronics from time to time if you search
  19. its cool that youve landed a good spot in it . i hope its secure . my advice is dont leave , cause you probably wont get anywhere near what your getting now in the open market , even for it project managers or technical service managers . it is on the decline , its a fact . wages are down , demand is down across the board globally . now and then there are small surges up for particular skills or at a particular time but the longterm trend over 5 or more years is down . and that will only continue for most areas of IT . you might be ok earning pre it boom wages , but for the majority of people comming into IT that wont be the case if your happy coming into IT now working up to 50k then go for it , its still ok 40-50-60k or whatever its not a bad living . but rember that it is a declining industry and the nature of globalisation and the simplification of technology will reduce the costs and technical requirements of IT in the future so keep that in mind for your long term plans .
  20. cause if you used to earn 100$ an hour , it can be tough to get motivated for a job paying 60k per year . there are people earning 100k per year in perth but not many , an no where near what there was . im working at a major wa government dept at the moment and the CIO , the big kahuna of all IT gets 85k . so you can imagine what the helpdesk guys are getting I once worked for the macqaurie bank and the helpdesk guys got 50$ an hour .
  21. im not really going to be digging holes it was just a metaphor . there are lots of jobs currently that are considered "below" IT yet they earn so much more . For instance while building a house a guy came to cable the phone lines into the house . he ran 2 cables from the telstra connection in the meterbox , across the open frame roof , down the wall into the spot where the phone jack would go . He charges $143 and telstra pay him about 50-60 . for 20mins max work , aproximately $600 per hour . Yet I am supposed to do a much more difficult job for what 60k in perth ? and dont tell me he has to work hard , he doesnt even climb a ladder , theres no ceiling or roof yet . he connects 2 cables ! The worst that happens is it rains and he gets a bit wet . anyway if your happy or whatever then good for you . its a case of dont miss what you dont know and if you didnt get the high wages youll probably think IT is pretty good even now . But just remember that IT is an industry in decline , globabally and consistantly . The nature of the technology means that inevetibly its costs are driven down and that means your wages . It is not an industry with a future 99% of its fields .
  22. i do IT its truly shit. After the days of earning 80, 90 , 100$ an hour It just grates on you having to work in perth for shitty wages . I just cant get interested doing anything for less than a 7 figure income . Why should I live with all the hassle and stess , gaining knowledge and cirtifications , working long hours and late nights when someone with earns 2-3 times what you do for digging holes . If your in IT get out , its only going to get worse , held desks in india , operating systems a chimp can use , plug and play everything . get out now while you still can .
  23. if you were getting beating by v6s even not trying something is wrong . My s15 had a full exhaust , cai and 13psi and I could put a car length + more behind a 220kw v8 by about 120/130km . even stock past about 2.5k revs it would haul past a crappy v6 .
