  1. do you mean you can actually watch it get tuned ? last time i was at hyperdrive ken shoo-ed my out of the workshop !
  2. they will require a new custom manifold and dump pipe to fit on a rb20 . but they will be quite well matched to the rb20 . support about 200rwkw , possibly more with cams. they are not ball bearing however unlike similar aftermarket garret GT turbos so dont pay to much
  3. the power fc kit does not have gear / rpm / injector duty boost control options . its just very basic ebc operations . if you want the extra tuning options go for the avcr . given the avcr can be purchased at some really good prices due to its bulk popularity its might only be $100 more . and ofcoarse you get the bling
  4. tune it in rwd mode !
  5. i get about 450-480 from 55l
  6. hmm the factory boost control solenoid is not plummed in . An ebc solenoid is in its place but that it switched off cause the ebc is not working so it just passes thru . so the only thing controlling boost should be the stock actuator
  7. adjusting to our fuel type is not really required the stock ecu will do just fine on 98 octane fuel at the tune level you are looking at . an electronic boost controller will do the same thing as the manual boost controller , ie control boost . however it does it with more accuracy and is controllable for hi and lo settings things like that . the problem with the safc without going into to much technical stuff is it doesnt do that much so you wont find a huge gain with it now , maybe 15-20kw and later on it wont offer the level of tuning required to support more serious mods . so for the level your at the stock ecu will be fine
  8. mine doesnt , its spike city . Theres about a 3psi varience using the stock actuator depending on the conditions , ie gear load etc . the stock boost guage doesnt show these but good aftermarket guage will.
  9. where do i get an intercooler pipped and fitted for $1000 ? i would forget the safc and put the money into a better electronic boost controller because you only have limited boost to work with on the stock turbo and you dont want to waste 2 psi as a spiking buffer . Or just forget about boost control , youll probably hit about 10psi with a 3inch exhaust anyway and then put the money towards a powerfc which is a full replacement computer and much more programable than the safc.
  10. the wastegate cant vent any more exhaust , the actuator is set to certain point . if that was 7psi and now the turbo is more efficient and producing 10 the wastegate can not do anything about it , its already at its set level . If you had an adjustable actuator you could open it more assuming it wasnt all the way open already and vent more gas out the wastegate producing less boost . thats my understanding of it anyway .
  11. if you are making large changes from the stock mappings it will affect your auto operation to some degree . it may be acceptable to you or it may not
  12. the s13 blacktop and redtop are the exactly the same engine . one is red . one is black as you stated the s13 blacktop comes in around late 93 so they are newer engines but be weary as often they are red tops painted black to ask for slightly more money
  13. i added that a combined 3in front/dump in mild steel and hiflow cat after running with just a japanese cat and the increase in noise wasnt that noticable . certainly nothing like adding the cat back vs the stock catback . on high throttle the midrange was a bit more growly but not heaps louder or droney
  14. the s13 red/blacktop is the same motor s14/s15 blacktop has vvt www.nissansilvia.com for more info
  15. "the new DCCD function for the STi helps eliminate MOST of the understeer" what is dccd?
  16. when u speak to lumpy about them he doesnt seem very keen or full of praise for them though
  17. a turbo back exhaust will give you a couple of psi but the filter does nothing .im running a pod with stock exhaust and no boost increase is noticable the wastegate is not "active" . it is set to a mechanical level which equals a certain amount of boost . if you remove the restriction the turbo will produce more boost at the original set actuator level . if you had an active electronic boost controller which was constantly monitoring the actual manifold pressure and adjusting accordingly then it would stop the boost going over a certain level , which is what hey do to stop spiking . i probably didnt explain that well but hopefully you get the idea
  18. the avcr will let you program boost at particular rpms and gears to help with stuff like traction at low gear low rpm launches as opposed to the fuzzy logic automatic boost curves mentioned with are not realy controlable
  19. 1 - not really . plum the solonoid in where your old boost cotroller was and then run a vacum line hose from the manifold . There is a article in the DIY section on installing a boost guage on a r32 , same principal applies for that . then run your hose and cable for the solinoid back into the cabin and mount the controller 2 - its up to you . if you feel confident give it a go , if not its probably about $100 to get it installed . those profecs are pretty strait forward 3 - yes fully electronic , it will be more stable than your bleed
  20. will these work in a s15 too or will the be loaded with data for the 34? if its cool for the 15 im interested . would i just take my board down to hyperdrive and they would fit it and tune ?
  21. did you get your item ? i just got my exhaust after 1 month and 2 days . looks nice , muffler is good quality , very nice looking . other pipes look good . would definetely recomend xforce! but my cat is purple . wtf ?! he has claimed the delay was to do with xmas/nye break and he was o/s and everything but still .very poor comunication never responded to emails and i had to call him like 5 times on his mobile it seems to have all gone to shit this last month but previously his ebay record was tight what exactly happened give us the story .
  22. yea they can control boost , very programable , great ecu . one of the top line ecus along side motec wait a bit for the new sm4 to come out , its aparently gonna be mad!
  23. This has been covered in another similar thread if you want to search The vitorian EPA has statewide powers and enforces state regulations . They have no power over your NSW registered car . If a police offficer in Vic was to give you a defect or an epa review or whatever they are called there it will never be issued and enforced . Nor will demerit points or mandatory license suspensions if there is no equivilant in your state *theoretically* but in practise there is no comunication between states at all and no demerits or suspensions will ever be carried over to your existing interstate license .
  24. those guys are on crack ! they obviously want you to buy one of their exhausts i have a japanese fujitsubo power getter on my s15 and its by far the best quality exhaust I have ever seen . this think is a work of art ! Ive even had workshops who were working on the car comment on the exhaust . but these xforces are great value if I ever get it ......
  25. my cars were covered in ash even in the garage all the way up in wanneroo
