  1. Still, it's pretty funny to read the patent application. Amazing how technical you can make a wheel sound when you put your mind to it. The article's from 2001, btw
  2. Hi guys, I've got Nismo wheel nuts on my GT-R - if you haven't seen them, they're actually 7-sided like Rays wheel nuts, and obviously require a special adaptor to get them off. Normally I'd chisel through them and just get a new set, but the Nismo ones are worth a crapload of money and all 20 nuts are the 7-sided ones, not just one on each wheel. Has anyone got an adaptor I can borrow for a day? I need to put my new tyres on! Otherwise I may actually have to buy another full set so I can get the adaptor, which seems a tad silly :S
  3. If you're gonna cover it, you should be fine.
  4. You do realise they were probably shitting themselves because some bloke was chasing them? They probably thought YOU were going to carjack THEM!! lol The number plate is a new one, meaning the car is also new, so maybe they're still trying to get used to it...my Dad's 62 and drives a Legnum VR-4, so stranger things have happened
  5. Snobs FTL - I had my GT-R in front of the new Wheelworx shop on Port Road today, waved to a bloke in an R33 GTS-t who gave me this weird look and kept on driving...
  6. And the VQ35 models came in manual too - I've been tempted for a while now...
  7. Oh and I saw this ad, and wanted a chick like that lol http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=OIotsfNjhO4
  8. You got an R35 GT-R?? lol I lusted after the R32 GT-Rs way back when they were in Group A Touring Cars, driven by Jim Richards and Mark Skaife. I'd long held plans to get a 32 GT-R under the 15 year rule, but the rule was changed before I had scraped enough money together to buy one, so I got an R33 GTS-t instead. Absolutely loved it - such an easy car to get into and feel comfortable driving straight away. Easy to drive it quickly too. From there I went to an R34 GT-t, and again, it was the driving experience I enjoyed the most about it, and the fact that it just looked so sexy, in my opinion. My wife also fell in love with the 34, and she was the first to suggest we get another one eventually. In between, I've had a JZX100 Chaser, a series 8 RX-7 and an EP3 Civic Type R (which is still my daily), but none of them come close the the R34 GT-R I've got now. I lusted after a 34 GT-R ever since they were released in Japan, mainly because I was in Japan when they were released! I can still picture the first one I saw on the street, firing up and flicking on the Xenons. But I love my GT-R for the same reasons I loved my R33 GTS-t - easy to get a comfortable driving position, easy to drive hard, awesome performance, looks sexy while still being fairly practical. Just a really enjoyable car.
  9. I was looking at putting R88s on my GT-R and ended up going with R1Rs - haven't got them on yet so I can't give you a definitive answer about their performance. When I was researching, I spoke to a rep who suggested the R1Rs over the R888s, firstly because they obviously wear a lot better (think about the percentage of time you'll spend on the street) and also, being a newer design than the 888, has grip levels approaching the 888 without being so reliant on buffing or having good temp in them for max grip. Worth thinking about if you're not planning to be at the pointy end straight away. I suspect you'll find the 888s on eBay are parallel imports, and GGG compound rather than GG. Naturally Toyo are going to protect their turf, but this PDF does have some valid points. http://www.toyo.com.au/RacePDFs/Bulletin%2...oxes%20R888.pdf
  10. The SEVS ruling only means you can get it into the country - getting it registered is a different story all together.
  11. Emissions regulations tightened at the start of 2004 in Australia, so that effectively rules out anything later if you want a turbo model. They are still working on getting them through at the moment, but having enormous difficulties. Nissan did make a 3.5 litre NA model, so you'd have to convince a workshop to do the evidence for them if you're keen enough and patient enough.
  12. GT-R rims on a Falcon?? Did I read that right?? It's possible, theoretically, would love to see pics...
  13. Who owns the white 260RS that lives or works out Golden Grove way? I see it around the place all the time.
  14. So it wasn't you, Mitch?? lol
  15. Love it!! How good does it sound??!!
  16. So you suggest something highly illegal, THEN wonder if it's appropriate??
  17. Yes, the neighbourhood is definitely going downhill...
  18. I've heard the story through a phone conversation or three, and believe me, the plot is thicker than Santa's waistline. Long story short - it was sold as never being able to be complied, and...is never able to be complied.
  19. No probs fella, sorry I didn't have time to take you for a lap - will do so at some stage. I've been waving to every single Skyline owner ever since I jumped into my car, so if you've spotted me, consider yourselves all spotted. Spotted a nice white R31 coupe getting a bath up at the GG Village car wash.
  20. TypeVU, I spotted you on South Road, just heading on to the extension - I was heading the other way in my 34. What a pity you were actually watching the road and didn't see me lol
  21. Ok now I'm confused - take a photo of the problem for us all to have a look at.
  22. I'm suspecting it's a car that has been previously stolen and recovered - it seems to be the done thing to scratch off the chassis number. It's a pain in the bum, but your workshop should know what to do in these circumstances. Normally you will have an export certificate that lists the original chassis number but notes that it has been tampered with. I had a customer of my own in a similar situation, and we put the car back through auction, but I've since heard that such cars can and have been complied and registered before.
  23. Guys, you can buy a half decent local deck for $200, get that and a single DIN pocket, and your problems are solved. Never kept my Japanese head units.
