  1. I'm pretty sure it's not the exhaust gasket and missing bolt because its not the same noise etc and it wasnt this bad with extra bolts missing. When I have the money ill take it somewhere but I know I can do it myself but I need to pin point the issue first
  2. Thanks guys! I did the power test and all good and was actually going to run some good quality injector cleaner through maybe moly stuff in the metal can. It's becoming so frustrating! The coolant sensor code isn't showing now but doesn't mean it's still not rooted I'm just going to replace it and see what happens. Sucks cos the car drives so nicely and I am spending half my life trying to fix this ass hole idle! Could it have anything to do with cam position sensor?? I'm starting to think cos the aac/Iavc was missing gasket and o ring then that could be a main cause? My pcv is rooted also
  3. Oh and maybe PCV valve/EGR Valve? Fuel filter?
  4. Hey Guys, Sorry if a similar topic has been covered, but just thought I would start a new thread to add more specifics etc. I have a series 2 R33 GTST which is having an annoying idle issue. I replaced some snapped exhaust manifold bolts and there is still one snapped but meh that can wait, it isn't the cause I am pretty sure as when three were snapped it didn't idle as crap. When idling it sounds all over the place like up and down whirring like if u imagine a police siren whirring but it's the sound of idle lol. It on occasion will also feel like it has just dropped out like it's on 5 cylinders for a split second then comes straight back. The taco doesn't seem to hunt though. It occasionally also has a weird cold start where it starts really quiet then like two seconds later bursts to life but usually starts nicely. A bit fuel smelly lately too. Anyway here is what I have checked (not much yet) and then what I am suspecting. Oh and also when I tried to adjust idle with idle return screw when I pulled the TPS the car stayed on as it should but one time when I pulled it the car died? Oh and the car gave me a code for coolant temp sensor and i cleaned it up a bit and put it back and the code went away? Sorry for the essay! What I have checked: Cleaned AFM Cleaned AAC assembly- noticed an o-ring is missing and a gasket?! Checked all hoses for vac leaks, pretty sure they ok Checked all hose clamps etc tight through the air intake Cleaned cold start valve Pulled each coil pack whilst car was running- does this just check your cylinders or pretty much tells u whether coil pack is rooted or not? What I think could be wrong: Still some annoying vacuum leak somewhere Throttle position sensor Dirty throttle body The missing o-ring & gasket on AAC/IACV assembly AFM still- how else can I check? Resistance? Still the water temp sensor even though code disappeared Coil pack Problem with the waste gate?? How can I check if it is stuck?? Anyway thats enough for now, it's doing my head in so any advice would be great! Thanks heaps Em
  5. Spotted two R33 gtrs both silver one yesterday or day before on Charles street and one a week or two ago on stirling hwy heading from freo way, nice!
  6. Hey Sparks, damn not yet! I actually cleaned my coolant temp sensor n the code went away- weird!! But it's still idling like ass now without air con haven't tried with air con tho! I assume worse lol. I did mess with the idle screw but it was shit before then. I'm wondering if throttle body or TPS maybe? Hahaha ok well your Honda story makes me feel a bit better! Sucks cos the car drives absolutely perfect otherwise
  7. Hey Guys, Does anyone in Perth happen to have a coolant temperature sensor (the one for ECU above top radiator hose) for a series 2 r33 rb25dt? Correct me if I'm wrong but apparently rb30/26/20/25 have the same part number? Want to pick up ASAP! Thanks heaps Em
  8. Thanks guys! Cleaned the iac valve etc. Actually ran diagnostic codes and found out water temp sensor is faulty and for some reason the cold start valve wasnt even connected properly! Hopefully those things fixed will help at least! Haha weird isn't it re ur R34? Mine feels like it almost drops a cylinder occasionally on idle!
  9. Sorry everyone been so busy replying to pm's now
  10. Hey Nick! Oh awesome! Yep text me ASAP- number is 0405 842 726 Cheers, Em
  11. Short somewhere in the circuit?
  12. Hey Guys, I am chasing a few things for my 1996 R33 Series 2. I am in Perth but if over east and you are willing to post that would be great! Stuff I am looking for now: RB25dt coil pack cover Centre piece of dash around the stereo/ashtray area GTR wing/spoiler Rear springs Heater hoses Front mount intercooler with piping Oil catch can BOV to fit straight on Braided turbo lines Spacers Alarm system Alloy radiator Stuff I am looking for when less poor but let me know if you have now!: Aftermarket ECU- plug and play pref R33 side skirts & pods High mount exhaust manifold Adjustable coil overs Thanks heaps
  13. Hey All, I have a 1996 R33 Series 2 which hates having the air con running! I have noticed that whenever it is on the car seems to miss on idle, kind of feels/sounds like it runs on three cylinders for a brief second. When the air con is off idle is perfect and I have no issues. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this? I had an ac idle up valve problem in my GT4 so am wondering if this might be the cause? Any advice on what to investigate would be greatly appreciated I do have broken manifold stud bolts which are being taken care of this weekend but not sure if that is contributing in anyway. Thanks Em
  14. Since changing the gasket it sounds awesome I agree and much quieter! Studs are a pain but I guess once done wont need to worry about them for a long time!
  15. Thanks! Actually ended up being the turbo to manifold gasket but there are 3 studs snapped off in the head
  16. Thanks Phil! Sweet used an anti seize on some other parts also
  17. Yep meant arp bolts, will just use the standard ones I have aside that I got with a manifold a bought. Yeah basically have too many cars and garage time is limited and the next car needed to be put in plus I'm horribly impatient and I guess being able to drive it to a workshop and get them to do it would be easier and cheaper than getting a tow. The yuck sound has gone but its missing on idle etc which I assume is the bolts? There is a mobile guy but haven't been able to get hold of him I'm in Perth. If anyone is keen ill pay!
  18. Should I invest in some arp ones? Do u think the car will be ok til next week when I can afford to get someone to do it? No way am I going to do that again for awhile!
  19. Thanks heaps for all the advice, used it all! The turbo to manifold gasket was screwed it was broken in half, three bolts broke off in the head- two were already like that and one did it trying to get it out and of course two of them were on the one entry. Was so angry! I put it all back together and sounds heaps better prob as I put new gaskets but I'm going to drive it like a Grandma then get someone to undo it all and drill out the bolts
  20. Have decided to remove the lines just incase now!
  21. Hey Guys, My name is Emily and I just bought my first Skyline an R33 Series 2 GTS25t, put a bit of info and pics in the new members thread. I bought her cheaper due to a leaking exhaust manifold gasket and am currently in the process of changing and was just after some advice. I've done a lot of searches but can't find exact answers. I have posted a pic of current state with turbo roped onto strut bar so it doesn't fall anywhere! Basically all the nuts and bolts are off minus three of the manifold stud bolts however was wanting to know is there anyway of accessing the manifold gasket and replacing it without having to undo the coolant line and oil lines? I heard u can risk bending them and its not recommended but is it possible to get it out of the way just enough? I'm thinking I will chuck some braided lines on there to make life easier next time. Going to chuck a screamer on too. If I can't just move out of way do I undo the lines and obviously drain the coolant? Do I have to replace the oil? Also the studs seem fine and not yet sure of the turbo to manifold gasket state yet so thinking if it would be a good idea to get these incase before the shops shut? Oh and last thing sorry! A lot of the bolts to the turbo were really loose, do I replace these or can they be torqued up? Sorry for all the questions! Thanks Em
  22. Thanks Joey! Yeah I wasn't expecting it to look as good as it did when I rocked up, went cheaper as has a blown exhaust manifold which I am half way through now then will focus on more mods
