  1. er, yes ..
  2. japtaxi: yeah, I have that PDF.. I'll refer to it a bit.. and all the threads on here that I can find, and ask for input. I just want to clear up all the basic common questions... like "what is a type m", "can i put an rb26 into gts-t?"..etc Don't think it will have performance stuff in there yet.. that's another area and is open to disagreement. So might do that section later.
  3. its only taken 2 years to get sick of it
  4. i'm sick of reading hte same old ****ing questions on here every week!
  5. i am starting work on the "mega skyline faq".. i will have a list of the most common questions up soon.. should be a fun little project..
  6. sigh.... brakes are the same, although as an auto may be less optioned as it may more likely be used just for transport. i.e. you may have a greater chance of getting the "non type m" (single pot) brakes... which I have in mine. interiors are the same from what I've seen.. below the dash cluster on the R32 there is the current gear indicator, but its not part of the speedo cluster like R33. This will stay in the console if you convert it to manual just not work. You have got a coupe of buttons on the inside console for "power" and "snow" mode or some crap. Thats about it as far as I can tell. When you remove the center gearshift surround, that will all go. Think they're all still LSD's.. the autos have a shorter diff ratio, which is nicer for acceleration. I think I saved about $2k by not getting a manual (of unknown condition).. and when it comes time to convert hopefully you'll be going for brand new clutch, reconditioned clutch cylinder, and a gearbox you know will be in nice condition. Oh yeah, the ECU's will be different.. however generally the auto ECU will run manual fine, just not vice versa. You can look on my site if you like for pictures if that helps.. one dead-stock auto...
  7. is it just me... or is that girl enjoying kissing that dalmation just a little too much???
  8. yeah, rb30 is good option - least u know how its been built, and what it will be good for. rb25 or rb26 is a gamble.. could blow at anytime, then u have to rebuild it anyway. an el cheapo rb20 could be fun for a trash motor i guess.
  9. i got a better, newer one sitting in the garage.. what r u doing with your n/a r32? GTR or RB30?
  10. an old-schooler? NISSAN SKYLINE 2 DOOR COUPE 1978 model, 2.4L 6 cylinder (L24 carby), 5spd, a/cond, mechanically sound, body straight, little rust, 17in Voltec rims & tyres, black cloth interior, fully instrumentated dash, ideal RB20 or RB30 conversion. GC all round, unreg. -$2350 neg Rochedale South (0404) 270 350 after 6.00pm.
  11. Nissan Skyline 1989, auto, air cond, 2 and quarter sports exhaust, lukey extractors, lowered, no rust, no problems, reg'd -$3000 Beenleigh 3382 0205. here is one for you... just up the road
  12. lol ...aww people forgot your birthday happy birthday mate! have a good one.. any luck with the sale of the car?
  13. well ze326 i guess don't feel unsafe, but they don't really grip too well.. but considering how you like to spin the tyres they'll be ok for that I got about 15,000km and about 12 months out of the rears on my r33. Thats not good value, no matter how little they cost. well i was thinking about the r31 and how much.. I would have to ask around $2k.. which is more than i paid.. but i can't give it away, even if I do know the person I've seen a few r31 around, and some that sell for even $3k aren't too much worse off than mine. its got aircon (just needs more gas), sports steering wheel, mp3 face unit, couple of decent kenwood speakers, hardly any rust, loud exhaust, everything works, and it still drives fine. A p-plater would love it. I'm in no rush.. r32 needs to be on the road b4 i even think about it.
  14. yeah.. it might be a "non mspec" thing.. or just a factory option that is 95% optioned on... I got the old sliders too.. I know they work, but hell, I like the digital thingo, makes you feel like you have a fancier car (pedantic I know). I picked up the control unit and the loom for $100 to do the conversion.. I have had a quick look, and it looks like the slider controls actually have the old-style cable mechanism which opens up the various flaps near the firewall. This makes it tricky, as I think the newer method works with actuators (like the R33) to open the vents, etc. So I'll probably need the actuators to actually do it. Looking more and more expensive. I can't find out too much information either on the conversion, other than for the S13, which I assume it could be similar to. I really have to pull the whole dash apart to find out what sort of task it is.. not high on my list of priorities right now.
  15. yowch.. thats rooted..
  16. That actually sounds like a decent price for the rack.. but labour could be quite a bit expensive than that though. Its not really a "minor" thing to replace.
  17. many will take haggling on a car as an insult, especially if they have a good idea of the real value of their car... If you go in *expecting* to bargain down, or can only afford it if its bargained down I don't think you really should be looking at the car IMHO. But sure, if you can, worth a try. Best way to buy a skyline is off an overseas student who's going back to asia, and never really paid for the car in the first place - so its not their money. They'll often only have a few weeks to sell it and will take a well below market value price.
  18. haha.. sounds like a great tyre to put on the r31 the retreads are starting to go.. although for retreads they have copped a fair bit of abuse. man victoria is so depressing.. its going to be good to be back in QLD I tell you!
  19. liksang.com has it for $100 shipped to australia if anybody is interested.. not too bad. lol - funny that they have the r32 gts-t and not the r33.. they must really have a thing against the R33 over there I was reading that the game outputs 1080 x xxx (not sure what the vertical size is) resolution - high definition, if you have a nice large TV and the correct connectors. So you basically get the full resolution rendered inside the PS2, not the downsampled resolution that you get with standard (480i) mode? It says that its viewable in the presentation mode (where you can view and print your cars on a usb printer), and the actual race, but not the menus? I believe only the japanese ps2 is able to output a full high definition signal. Just curious as to whether you had seen it or tried it.
  20. man that is the funniest shit.. I've been waiting for this for a while! that poor R33!! I like the final one.. haha, anyhow, good on you for getting out and giving a try, you were getting a few together there. Points for trying to drift along the straight there too.. who needs corners! lol
  21. damn roy - no extinguisher? although - flared guards? GTR engine? that fire must have effected the head mr R32.. sounds like a decent plan of attack.. similar to mine even with the rb25.. but personally i'd leave the respray and rims till last as they're very expensive and you get a very small fraction of it back at resale. The other thing you can consider which may (although small chance) eventuate with mine, is finding a turbo that will be a good match on the RB20DET and will be fairly nice on an RB25 as well.. have some fun with the rb20 until it starts looking a bit sick, THEN go the 25 conversion and re-use the turbo until you want loftier power ambitions. The hks 2530 springs to mind there.. You could have a nice 12-13sec GTS-T, which might get little cop attention, or a pretty looking gts-t with "some" go for the $10k rims and paint would cost which might get a lot. Personally I am going "go" first and then maybe next year some show.. The choice is yours ..
  22. its meant to be an easy conversion the rb20det.. Seen it done on a few cars, go nicely... but to be honest.. get the import with the rb20det already, as it has the "something different" factor, and also will handle a heck of a lot better with the IRS and better diffs. You can find some for bargain prices of $6k sometimes, that may require a bit of tlc.. but not too bad. Too many people spend too much on the local models doing them up without seeing the light, as there are many deficiencies. I own an aussie R31, and it handling, steering, etc is a fair bit further behind the import. I wouldn't feel comfortable driving an R31 at over 160km/hr.. but an r32 or r33 feels so much more predictable (and safer).
  23. I offer $280 on the azenis as its gonna cost $20 to get there and back.. will come up to bris and pick them up over the weekend... once i've got back from melb.
  24. hate to jump on the bandwagon - but considering there is only about 3-5k difference on a turbo, and non-turbo r33, just sell the car..buy turbo version. It will cost more than $3-5k to convert it, and nobody will want to buy it afterwards. Your car can be "converted" in a couple of short weeks!
  25. well my suggestion would be for the basics.. strut tower brace - they are nice and cheap, 10 minutes to fit, and makes a nice difference to handling. Then looking at some aftermarket springs to firm up the handling - not going all out to start with, some whiteline springs are well priced. I wouldn't go 2nd hand on suspension unless you know the history. Then replace cat-back, then front pipe.. put in a good panel filter (ignore the pod for now). Then maybe fuel pump (another cheap insurance mod). After that a $100 bleed valve (sell it later to buy the EBC when you need it), then an S-AFC to be able to extract more power. All of this can be had for around $2000, and you're already well on the road to a better car. p.s. there is loads of other info on this in this section.. try a search for "first mods", "what should I do to my skyline", etc
