  1. seems not too bad to me.. i wouldn't bother with the AVCR or S-AFC.. you'll only want the full ECU soon enough. pickup a 2nd hand EBC (other than the overpriced Apexi) for around $350, or just stay with the bleeder I reckon until a bit later. Wouldn't worry too much about the turbo .. just get another when it breaks, you can go though a few before it starts getting expensive. Just maybe run lower boost and wrap the dump pipe to reduce outlet temps. When my next car gets here, even $300 difference between the bleed valve and EBC I can keep thinking of a few extra things to spend the money on (i.e. some whiteline springs)
  2. r33 boxes are probably actually easier to get than VLT manual boxes.. (believe it or not)
  3. I think it shouldn't be too difficult, as long as somebody else has assembled the head for you. Not that I've done it myself.. but I have pulled the head (well actually the whole motor apart) *off* an RB (rb30) and that wasn't too difficult not ever doing it before. Sure, getting it back doesn't mean its necessarily so easy but I'll tackle it sometime.

Can't lose either way... edit: actually get 2x cheapies, and keep the one that arrives in best condition
  5. i'll borrow it then and take it to QLD.. you'll get it back one day.. maybe not in one piece but hey.. Depends - do u want to really drive it like its meant to be driven ? (on a track, etc).. or drive it everyday?? Don't think its really an everyday driver from everything i have seen. I think once its registered you'd maybe drive it for only a couple of months b4 realising the realities of it. get another r32 and swap the engines.. you know u wanna..

  7. All good suggestions. Maybe just a club bbq once every month or so on say a sunday, to encourage new members and get to meet and greet. If there are going to be a formal structure, some sort of idea of when official meetings, and how others can participate if they need to, and participate in the organisational structure, etc.
  8. yeah, good buy.. Auto is fine for most stuff, its pretty smooth and not lacking in power which is the main problems which make autos crap. They don't have a heap of power of course being an n/a, but handle fairly well and good fun to drive i reckon. In many ways i found it just as entertaining as the r33.. and for a while there i was jumping back from one to another day to day. I reckon a 1600 or 1200 would be cool and has collector status these days.. but lacks a few creature comforts that say an R31 would have such as power steering, proper aircon, heating, plenty of space, decent lights, etc, etc.

  11. well if you save $600 and run yourself into a wall due to shitty tyres.. you'll be spending more than $600. Tyres are kind of important, especially if you are in melbourne where it rains 10 months of the year.

I thought the idea was maybe to keep the chit chat *in* here so that the generally chatter didn't interfere with proper technical threads or questions? rsx: looks nice with the buddy clubs .. and the parabolics are a nice touch. I really need some nice covers for mine (even know which I want), but will have to wait another week or so to lash out the $60 for em The stock GX/exec seats are a nice shape, just icky feel. cazz: two GTS and a TI is quite an achievement. Both sound really nice too.. If only I had a spare $12k lying around to buy the one you are selling - they'll only ever go up in value.

  25. geordie is incorrect.. some non turbos also come with LSD.. and also the same brakes as the turbo. Factory options can mix and match to give anything. The brakes are probably the same as the rb20det in the latter models on the rb25de's. So you are correct mr r32 in that you'll just have to change the engine.. and the gearbox would probably be recommended but non mandatory to start(the rb20det gearbox will fit behind an rb25det)
