Let me highlight the issue to people because I am not sure people understand completely what GCG does wrong here ($400 mistake for me!)
I know thats an RB26 turbo, but see how the part of the wastegate that attaches to the actuator has a specific angle to the wastegate cap? Well, when GCG weld it back on, they put the wrong angle on it for the stock actuator. So when you put it back on, the stock actuator arm is too long and keeps the wastegate open on idle...and then also basically until when the turbocharger actually needs the wastegate open.
The way I fixed my issue was like Pete did (as par my suggestion) the first time around, drilled another hole in the actuator. My std nissan actuator now doesnt boost below 12psi.
I therefore suggest for ANYONE putting on a turbo thats had its wastegate modified in any way to check that with the actuator on it is actually shut.
Also, dummy fit the dump to make sure the wastegate doesnt hit anything in the dump pipe (if it has a splitter etc)
