We have several machines at my work that have sound barriers on them. they have lift up doors that are on gas struts. whenever they fail or a new machine is added we get a guy that drives out to fit them. just a 1 man band and he has always done a great job with all the struts he has fitted. The only thing i know of that he hasnt been able to fit struts to is my bonnet!

ahh yea it just came back to me with the difference. ill run hicas diag tomorrow. the power steering pump will be rebuilt in the new years

i cant remove the hicas ecu as its the same ecu that runs the 4wd. whats the hard/soft solenoid on the rack? Trent are you talking about the hicas solenoid right? thats been removed along with the lines to the rear steering rack when the lock bar was fitted.

just some quick info. Any guy that does struts can help you. they will fit just generic no name stuff that will work perfectly. An old mate of mine used to work for Motorgear. They had a book (cant remember which company it was from) that had most models listed. He said u can use any of the struts out of the book to replace and strut as long as the ends were the same. You just gotta look at the open size, closed size and the strength. I replaced the struts in the tailgate of my old VL wagon with struts suited for a mitsubishi. a little more open length in them so the gate opened higher.

the hicas has been completely removed including the solenoid. the line to solenoid got plumbed into the power steering cooler located next to the drivers side head light. "crappy" steering feeling is when turning a corner in either direction the steering could be light and heavy numerous times in the 1 turn. so light heavy light heavy light heavy.... like the steering is fighting against me but not in a natural way. i spent almost 45 mins talking to the director of the company that rebuilt the rack and we came up with the idea that maybe there is sticking valves in the pump which is restricting fluid to the rack. this would explain the intermittent feeling and also explain why the steering sometimes comes good. it could also explain why the rack needed to be rebuilt.

hi guys. Ive recently had my steering rack rebuilt cos the steering was crappy. The steering is still crap. Im now looking at getting the pump rebuilt but i dont wanna leave the car at the mechanics and walk around for a week while im waiting on it to be rebuilt and replaced. A mate of mine has 2 spare S13 pumps that he doesnt need anymore. The question is, Will an S13 power steering pump replace an R32GTR power steering pump? Cheers, Ron

You had your rack rebuilt and its still not good? care to explain what it feels like? I had my rack rebuilt and it still didnt feel right the day i drove it. Felt better but not the best. then went down hill over a couple of weeks until it got back to whrere it was before the rebuild.

why not keep the exhaust you have and get a workshop to add a good centre muffler or replace the rear cannon with an oval muffler. I like loud.

i got a haircut today.. the hairdressers was flooded out the back. i sorted that out for them (being in the SES and all) and they didnt charge me for my haircut! YAY
