Proposed Street Car/Street Tyre Class
BU5TER replied to 2rismo's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
If you want street tyre records go to http://www.hpi.com.au/drag_records.php and whats wrong with SPORT RWD as the tyre used in that class has to be DOT rated which at the end of the day opens the door to non radial tyres but as shown in other threads no matter what we say they are legal, you must have both front seats in the car, use OEM fuel tank, maybe at best they could seperate the RWD and AWD in having SPORT RWD and SPORT AWD Full rules for sports mod racing are here http://www.andra.com.au/technical/d...actRulebook.pdf have a look at section 3.3 SPORTS RWD and I think its pretty well what your asking for other then the fact of AWD and RWD are together Brett -

New Untubbed Class At Jambo 04
BU5TER replied to Racin Jason's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
So by the looks of it if we want to be acknowledged with our input we have to email Jason, if anyone has any more input please post it and I will email Jason with our concerns about being alienated from it Jason sorry if it seemed like I/we were chewing you out as you posted on Ausrotary, but I am passionate about my drag racing and am in the final process of building a high powered drag GTST that I think would eventually slot nicely into this bracket one day but not with the sized slicks you've listed as a maximum size, I'll be lucky to have traction with a 26x10 which is what i'll be using and I think this would be the same for any other big Supras, Vl's etc etc admitted you do quote this as a trial class several times but honestly what makes you think you'll see any interest from other non rotary cars like skylines, supras when with the min wieghts and max tyre size puts them out of the race even before it starts and once the class is finalised I bet you'll say well there was no interest or emails to me from anyone else so there's no reason to change the rules when the rules were the reason why there was no interest to begin with, why start with rules that alienate us to begin with? when the rules could be made to include us at a competitive level to begin with? Its easy to say don't fear them beat them but how is this meant to happen when the rules have been made up for them, is it that they are scared if the rules were fair they might get beat? My other concern is with a class like this aimed at those lighter very old cars is honestly how many more years will they still be as abundantly available to build up as drag cars, time is working against them and with this in mind as the modern import becomes more common and cheaper to buy for the average person to build up as a drag car the tides will turn and we will be the future of sports compact racing so shouldn't the future be thought of and the rules be made according Jason please don't take this the wrong way, I think what you've done in a short period of time for sports compact racers is amazing and don't mean any disrespect to you in any way or form, thank you for taking the time to inform us and keep us posted Brett -
Stace you want to race my mower now???
-
Cheaterers will all blow there own horn saying but how is it different from this and that but at the end of the day they have ran a quick time which if we leave the street aspect/side of things out of the converstaion is all that matters, it doesn't mean there car is a xx sec street car they know it and so does everyone else that knows they are using 2 power adders 1 of them being illegel on the street It all comes down to if your a drag racer and want quick times no holds bared or if your the every day Joe blow who wants to see what there car can run in street trim, neither way is wrong or right they are just different

New Untubbed Class At Jambo 04
BU5TER replied to Racin Jason's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Sorry my bad calling it RWD6 insead of Sport RWD, will there still be the sport rwd class? Theo Woollet's AWD GTR could fly to the moon for all I care, all i'm interesed in is RWD, so you think we'd be over the moon because we now have the choice of OZ Mod which is set up for rotors ie the weight and the size tyre allowed or Sport RWD where we get to race the big HP GTR's aswell mmm maybe its just me but neither seems fair, even with weight reduction ... what we might get down to 2700 pounds if we've stripped the shit out of the car which would include driver and roll cage etc And in what world is there a 1650 pound GTST ie roughly 750kg, I agree if there were such a thing it would be competitive but sadly there isn't and why is it a 9" slick max, we can fit a 10.5" slick which i'm pretty sure a Supra can aswell where did these sizes and weights come from ... it wouldn't have been from the rotory boys would it? Where was the input from other cars ie like Supras or Skylines? "Yes thats right 2 power adders" what the 2 power adders is for the heavier cars only? if not honestly what has it got to do with keeping things fair as the lighter cars will use THE YEP THATS RIGHT 2 POWER ADDERS ASWELL I've been following the thread for the last few weeks on Ausrotory http://ausrotary.dntinternet.com/forums/vi...pic.php?t=37786 http://ausrotary.dntinternet.com/forums/vi...1998&highlight= and really think that even though you've chucked the 6cyl name into the 3 rotor class that its really a class for the rotor boys made up by the rotor boys and no real consideration has been made towards the other imports/non rotor racers ie Skylines/Supras etc Please Jason feel free to prove me wrong and tell me where and how other types of cars were asked for input into this class as I could be wrong -

New Untubbed Class At Jambo 04

Where does this class leave the RWD6 class in the sports compact rules? Can't the rotors compete in that class? -
New Untubbed Class At Jambo 04
BU5TER replied to Racin Jason's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
looks like a class designed for rotors, with the minimum wieght and max size tyre tyre being exectly what most mazdas can fit under the gaurds, Why even bother with the 6cyl part and just call it straight out 2 rotor and 3 rotor classes? I really can't see it being fair at all for Skylines as we weigh more and can fit a bigger slick under the OEM rear but aren't allowed to? -

hahaha fair enough, its the BFGoodrich Performance Specialist stores you want to contact http://www.bfgoodrich.com.au/html/dealer.australia The Nittos most of us NSW guys are using were imported privately and passed on to a few of the bigger work shops in Sydney to sell, as far as I know there are none left and he's not planning on importing any more BF Goodrich do a 275/75/15 which is exactly what your after and from all reports they are as good if not better then the nitto's anyway
-
mate I'm the person who wished you luck on Saturday, which you arrogantly replied no luck needed or was it luck has nothing to do with it hahaha either way maybe you should of been a touch friendlier Any BF Goodrich Sports tyre store can order them in for you, the Nitto's are pretty scarce now as there isn't a Aus supplier
-
Yep we have a name for them, CHEATERERS
-
ooops double post hahaha sorry Stace you rock

Should Radial tyres ie your every day tyre/drag radial be in the same class category as Crossply tyres ie Mickey Thompson Sportsman/Mickey Thompson Et Street for Skyline/Import records such as HPI list or our own SAU records
-
Go WSID
-
Thats twice now you've made reference to muscle cars and crossply tyres, I can't for the life of me work out what it has to do with RADIAL TYRES and SKYLINES or imports full stop in a Skyline forum Last time I checked this is a Skyline forum and the question asked was from a person that drives a R32 not a historic Mustang that may agree with your ideas And if you really want to face facts the arguement is now that most people don't think a crossply tyre should be in the same category as radial tyres in our SAU drag records or HPI records ... NOTE not historic races or USA muscle cars ... and no matter how you want to argue about it in the long run majority rules Misinformed ... me ... hahaha I've ran the times on radial tyres in my Skyline have you? Oh thats right you love to quote what it could of done, not what its has done like I can maybe it was fear holding you back???
-
hahaha :bs!: I don't accept the times run on cross ply tyres as being in the same category as times run on radial tyres, as street legal cross ply tyres include Mickey Thompson ET Streets which are a cheater slick no matter how you want to sugar coate the words and I think you'll find most will agree with me or if you like we can start a poll then the Case will be closed they even come with a warning " WARNING: ET Street tires have passed D.O.T. requirements but have reduced tread depth and compounds designed for racing. Due to the reduced tread depth these tires should be used on dry pavement only and are not suitable for normal highway use!"
-
Ahh well lucky most of us on the forum seem happy with the HPI rules, no matter how silly it seems to others and with some of the 60ft's I've seen from the rwd imports 1.6-1.7 I really don't think it will hold anyone back unless they want a reason to whinge or an excuse as to why it didn't happen for them, In short if there car is set us right and they have the power they claim they do a radial tyre will do fine
-
I think the TD06 25g 10cm is a great sized turbo for the RB25, I was very very happy with mine
-
I found with 264 in/ex cams and a greddy plenum the TD06 25g with a 10cm rear housing made peak power at 19psi on a other then mods mentioned stock RB25det
