  1. Hi all, So im continuing to do general maintenance on my 1997 R33 gtst. (changed MAF, cleaned AAC, service etc) nothing crazy. I have noticed that there is a strange droning sound that occurs as soon as i rev past 3000rpm. it is sudden, makes the sound and then disappears as soon as i back off the accelerator and get it back under 3000rpm. Doesn't happen when cruising at 3000rpm, only when accelerating past it. i can't really explain the sound, it is low pitched droning, sounds like its coming from the drivers side in the engine bay. Have researched this a lot online but when i check the videos of the things i have read it could be the sound doesn't match what i hear. Any help you guys could provide would be awesome, dont like hearing my car sounding sick! Thanks everyone
  2. Hello all! Just wondering if anyone on the forums also plays COD black ops 3 on xbox? If you do, shoot me through your gamer tag names! dtrants
  3. Hi everyone! Ive been considering painting the silver/unpainted parts of my wheels in black (the spokes are black but the wheels themselves are silver). I have read the DIY tutorials and think ill give it a go myself. Can anyone recommend primer&paint brands/types that they've used or that worked well? Thanks!
  4. Thanks a lot for the replies! I will pull out the old head unit tomorrow and see whats going on back there tomorrow. Might try and install the new one on the weekend, will be good to have music again! Appreciate the replies, very helpful
  5. And just to confirm, when you say 'existing wiring' do you mean the head unit wiring or the car wiring?
  6. GTofuS-T: thanks for the reply! If I was to try and wire it up myself are you able to give me an idea of how to do that? I found a good diagram online to show what each wire is for and where it goes. Just don't know which of those two adapters I would need to do that. Would appreciate the help!
  7. Just a quick update, new MAF came today, installed it into the car and its running significantly better than when i had the old one in. Happy days!
  8. Hi all! I have looked through the forums and can't seem to find what i am looking for (also can't find anything i can understand well ) A friend of mine had a head unit sitting around at his place and seeing as my current one doesn't have AUX connection capabilities i want to install it in my car. Im in need of a new project to attempt but have read that i might be able to buy adapters so i can avoid having to wire it in myself? I am new to all of this so was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. i have attached photos of the head unit, and the wiring that came with. Sorry for the newbie question, but have decided to finally try and learn how to do it! Thanks guys
  9. Skylab: thanks mate! I was trying to choose between red and blue, both would look better than the factory colour! I cleaned my AAC valve the other day and thought I should start doing DIY tutorials with it, I'll be sure to do it for now on! Robocop2310: totally agree with leaving the interiors. The guy who had the car before me put red LED in it, totally useless! Thanks for the replies guys!
  10. iruvyouskyrine: thanks mate! It's from Ebay. Kei Project, took a week or so to get here from California. As I said, not everyone's taste but who doesn't love the show! ?
  11. I know this is definitely not for everyone but I got a gear knob based on my favourite childhood show. Sweet! Also apologise for the dirt on the boot
  12. Yeah it was. Found a good guide (can't seem to find the link) online and followed it. Took a while to do because it was my first time and had to work out where everything was, but definitely not a difficult job to do. Well worth it.
  13. Thanks for the replies guys, i will look into them!
  14. Thanks mate! Looks great in person. Got the LED's from eBay. These are the ones i bought. http://www.ebay.com/itm/8x-T10-Blue-12V-5-LED-194-168-158-W5W-501-Side-Car-Auto-Wedge-Light-Tail-Bulbs/321913104359?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D66c4394fd41340749f4f829791ff849b%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D321913104359
  15. Hi all! I'm new to the forum, just changed my dash lights from the factory white (mine was faded and yellowish looking) to blue LED. Looks kind of purple and faded/blurry in areas in photos (not great photos from my phone) but looks great in person. I attached the before and after photos as well as the LED's i used. Used this multi faced LED to try and spread the lighting out more. Well worth the time and money (only took 2hr and $10 for me as newbie) for the change!
  16. Ok cool, thanks heaps for your help mate!
  17. Perfect! And do you think this filter would be ok for that adaptor? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HKS-Super-Air-Performance-Pod-Filter-3-80mm-/111772865321
  18. Thanks for the fast reply Trex! Are you able to give me an idea of what to search for? Like keywords to find the adapter I need. I'm a newbie to this stuff ?
  19. Hi everyone! I am new to the forum, and after years of reading the forums thought i would join and start tackling a few jobs on the car. I have a couple questions that I'm sure someone on here could answer! I had to replace my MAF sensor, the part arrives in a few days. Just wanted to know if i can just reconnect the new MAF and start driving or if i have to do anything else before or after i can use the car again? And also. I am currently running a K&N filter (the kind you oil) but have read that this sort of filter can be bad for the MAF so am looking at a HKS mushroom filter. Just wanted to know what dimensions for the filter i will need for it to fit in my car (series 2 R33 GTST). To connect it to the MAF etc. Thanks guys, much appreciated!
