  1. You could retard the timing a bit for the trip but it isn't the best thing to do, especially for a long trip. You're right, you won't get 98 accross the Nullabor. You could carry jerrys but it is still a long way. Your last stop for BP fuel is at Norseman. Give them a call and find out whether they carry it. Then you won't get it again until maybe Port Augusta. Which still means that there is I think almost 2000klm's between stops. What type of fuel economy do you get? You could carry some good quality octaine booster with you as well. Just stay off the hard boost. How bad doed your car ping with normal stuff?
  2. They were the last time I drove past. I have been there before and I didn't find them all that helpful. Actually, Perth in general seems to suck for import parts. Either they don't have them or they want too much. I went into Jap Wreck too and found they didn't have a hugh range of Skyline parts either - aren't Skylines as common as Commodores in Japan? Best get from interstate. My brother is sourcing his half-cut from there.
  3. There still ain't that many around yet. I've had mine for over a year now and there were hardly any back then (maybe 1 every 2 weeks.) You still only see one every couple of days, less often than a 350Z. Looks neat. Like the R34 GTR rims. Any mods?
  4. Could this be the oldest thread ever? We should bump it for fun and see how long it lasts. Then again maybe not.
  5. I think the idea is cool. You can still keep the genuine original shape of the car (unlike flare kits, etc...) until you open the doors! I really think it rocks, but obviously many don't so at this point I'll just sit back and wait for all the daming replys............
  6. Not quite Nismo Blue but not too dark either. Nice colour. Hence my number plate: BLU SKY
  7. G'Day buddy. I'm down your way as well. Welcome and let us know if you need any help with anything. If you want to catch up for a chin-wag, PM me and we'll arrange to cross paths. Otherwise we will see you at one of the cruises?
  8. Check fluid levels including the one in the boot. Then move on to cleaning sensors. Do a diagnostics and see what the computer tells you.
  9. Could I have a copy too? I will PM you my email. I also have a magazine that road tests the R32 GTR as it was delivered in Australia. I will try and post it up here. Real interesting reading - nobody had seen anything like it.
  10. 1. Yes 2. Bomb-proof 3. 300hp (give or take engine healthiness and if you run a safe boost) Big cash not required 4. Turbos, clutch, injectors, exhaust (turbo back), remap or aftermarket computer 5. Clutch, clutch, clutch!
  11. Look right at the rear of the inlet plenum. Off the back there you will find the standard pipe that connects to boost guage for your car. The pipe extends from here to a small black box on the firewall near the clutch master cylinder. The black box turns the signal to digital before relaying to info to the guage inside your car. Just T off the pipe that goes to the black box.
  12. It will work in the GTS but will only show you off boost properties. It was used in N/A cars for years as a sort of economy guage. How does it work? The less you have your foot down the more your throttle is closed and therefore the more vacuum is created in the inlet plenum and hence the gauge reading. Wide open throttle results in little vacuum which reads as "Power" on the guage. Even the some of the recent BMW's still used this but went as far as putting litres per hundred figures on there! Yes it will fit but as soon as the turbo kick in it will be of no use, in fact the turbo will through the accuracy of the gauge out. If you really want one, get one that has both boost and vacuum in one. When the guage hits "0" then, it means the turbo is feeding the exact amount of air that the engine is sucking - relative boost is 0.
  13. When I got my car, the stereo (fairly good one) was gone as well as a boost gauge. But what I was most annoyed about was when I watched my car come off the boat. It had been sitting in Japan for about 8 months so was in real need of a good service - so what did the guys taking it off the boat do? Thrashed it, raced it against another GTR to it'parking spot. You would have to assume that they didn't give the oil time to warm up or gave the car any time to cool down - but why would they? IT'S NOT THERE'S!!! :cuss:
  14. You want to drift? Take out the fuse for the 4WD. Drift away. Anyone got a R32 4 door, jump on this!
  15. Can you send me some pics of the wheels please? Check PM for email.
  16. What? Not on the short list? I thought you were after GTR's? Oh well. I'm off to sulk in the corner.
  17. Fairly easy install. Did it not long ago. Biggest problem was sorting out the mess the last guy had set up.
  18. Wow. I was going to offer a ride but there are already enough generous beings out there! Good on you guys. If I have a spare seat for a cruise, someone is welcome to fill it (the seat, not their pants!)
  19. That's harsh man. Hopefully you will be able to get an easy fix. When your done take it to the Welshpool pits as they are fair on imports and won't pull o ut the fine tooth comb. As for repairers in Perth... I see what I can dig up but I would take some good photos in to main well known ones around and get quotes. One team I know is good is Vulcan Panel and Paint in Canning Vale. Keen to see the car out and about soon!
  20. Actually now that I think about it, maybe I could take your dates instead? lol
  21. Could be interested. Let me know of some more details.
  22. Check: All vacuum and boost lines, Sensors and their connectors. My Dad has a VL Commodore and the AFM was loose so maost of the time it ran good and occasionally ran like a pig. When I first got my car, one of the knock sensors was loose so it was going into safe mode half the time. I also found that my boost gauge was not working due to the vacuum line off the back of the inlet manifold being cracked. By replacing the hose I now had no vacuum/boost leak and my guage now works. When I fixed the knock sensor the car runs like a dream. So just look at connections to all sensors and listen out for those leaks. Good Luck :headspin:
