  1. Yes I've done a bit of a Google, complaint from a Corvette owner who ordered a custom set up and then expected to be able to cancel, plus a SAAB owner who bitched about the kit not fitting his special edition car. I'm guessing that because the topic has not come up here that no one has tried them, have to ask though. As far as car stuff being made in Taiwan, has been heaps for many years, long before China got into the act.
  2. Ceika Brake Kits. Nothing available off the shelf for my orphan Nissan race car project but Ceika offer a custom service http://ceikaperformance.com/ Zero results from a search here, has anyone experience with Ceika and the performance of their brakes?
  3. Why the huge differences in times between various rear drivers? Where particularly can significant amounts of time be won or lost? So many questions, so little talent lol. Starting to think that a game level driving simulator would be a big help. Which one?
  4. This bloke did a 2:29 at the sprints, V8 engined Datsun 280ZX. Must be the cage or something Top speeds, 259 and 230kph, Conrod and Mountain Straights respectively.
  5. This event is certainly drawing the crabs, OH&S, breath testing, how did we ever survive before all this nanny stuff .
  6. The regularity B group organisers are having a piss up get together Friday evening in the camping area somewhere, always a good way to start a motorsport weekend. Look for the Z car club banners if anyone wants to join in. As far as cans go I heard that it's traditional for the sprinters to leave some full ones for the regulars, my garage is #35.
  7. State governments support sport with $ to varying degrees, depending on what it is and how many people are involved. Sounds a bit silly for the owners of Barbagello to price themselves out of the market but then again perhaps racers don't want to pay a realistic entry fee. Generally speaking by world standards we in AU have had it on the cheap in the past.
  8. Yes, sprinters are being 'evicted' on Friday, us regulars gain access to the inner paddock at 2.00pm by which time the sprinters will be gone.
  9. Yeh, that's the bit I can't work out, perhaps the Lightning mob are going to be evicted Friday to make way for us
  10. Obviously scrutineering depends on when you get there eg if it's late Friday for any of us Thunder lot then you may have to go and see them to arrange it. Yes, more epainmail please lol.
  11. I've clarified where scrutineering is to take place, "at this time" it will be done in your garage or for you no garage people your parking bay or whatever it's called.
  12. Suggest that Racer5 does a skippy clearing run using his front 'aero' to chop their legs off.
  13. This is my rig, minus the pseudo wing now to be more period correct. Or something.
  14. Yes, a good aftermarket ECU and tuner is the way to go. Sounds like you would make better money parting your car out but what would it be replaced with? Oh yes, that's the question isn't it lol. EDIT Looking at your list you need to spend more money MCA suspension, StopTech front brake kit with Carbotech XP10 pads all round, Hankook semi slicks.
  15. Yes, CTV would not be my choice for towing but given the tow rating I guess it would handle it. Basically though there are medium sized SUV's out there that tow very well. My 2015 Cherokee has a Sport mode for the auto which engages all wheel drive and stability control on the fly. In my experience it's a nicer tow car than a lot of the old school 4WD's out there.
  16. Just to complete the open wheeler options, Formula Ford and Formula Vee. S chassis is hard to beat bang for buck, the best $ results I have seen involve cheap aero mods and a good handling and braking package with modest engine power to keep maint and running costs down. Power costs. Investing in good brakes and dampers, eg MCA, will pay off and mainly involves a one off expense. Always resellable too.
  17. Another medium sized SUV towing contender, Renault Koloes rated at 2,000kg but beware of the 2.5litre petrol and CVT transmission. Still, it may suit some who primarily need a family hack.
  18. Further to the GitUp Pro 1 I bought, a mate has set it up for the Bathurst gig, he is a bit of a camera buff and is impressed. It's to go on the back of the car with a external mike mounted near the exhaust. The full kit has everything needed to mount the camera anywhere.
  19. Balls All I'm suggesting indirectly is that for some people a current mid size SUV might do the job for them. I find that the Cherokee, not a Grand Cherokee, tows like a champ. Much more stable and comfortable than the Triton based diesel Challenger I used to have and which was rated at around 3,000kg towing capacity.
  20. My Tilta Trailer says it weighs 500kg, bugger heavy trailers, they are just dead weight.
  21. Well there is Lee in the 260Z, still L engined too, very experienced driver in what would be around the oldest car in the Sprints. Going to get blown away on the straights
  22. Entry list for both Sprints and Regularity, woo hoo http://www.challengebathurst.com/event-info/entry-list
  23. Just noticed that the new 2016 Kia Sportage diesel has a tow rating of 1,900kg, better than all the mid sized SUV's except the Jeep Cherokee.
