Seat of the pants, well, I was able to advance the timing some more, without pinging and it got rid of the nasty power dip that was happening before.
Gonna book her into SST for an AFC re-tune and re-dyno, I'll keep you all informed of the before/after results
Unfortunately took no pics, I just wanted to get it all installed!
Using the stock piping return I used:
3x 90degree stainless elbows
1x 180degree stainless bend
about 500mm 2.5" piping.
Got them from Allbend engineering is Ossie Park
750mm 2.5" Radiator hose
12 Hose clamps
Got them from Enzed in Ossie Park
2x 3" -> 2.5" reducers
Got them from Coventry's in Morley
Assorted bolts/nuts ally strip and stuff for mounting
from Bunnings in Subi
Oh, and the 600x300x76mm cooler from WorksAuto
I'm a bit concerned how low the return pipe sits to the ground, being lowered on coilovers doesn't help! But it'll do.
My first drive found me blowing a cooler pipe off on charles street (how embarrasing) but after I re-tightened them all, it works a treat, had it up to 14psi
Update - the cooler is in!
After a few hours working my poor "IT-hands" I did it. Didn't actually need the 45degree bend I bought, and only used 500mm or so of straight pipe, but meh.
I have the 180degree bend thing happening under the car now, so I'm gonna test it at the next drags and see how I go, if I'm not happy with the result I'm going to change the piping to the over-the-engine styles.
For $690 all up, I'm pretty happy!
I think power-restriction for P-Platers is a good idea, and only after completing a few driver training courses should they be allowed to have a higher powered vehicle...
Don't get me wrong, I didn't say the job was bad at all! In fact, it looks pimp! Hence the improvement.
As a sidenote: JH is not a business (as everyone has said) so we're not really slandering are we?
Update: Picked up my SS Mandrel Bends and bits of pipe from Allbend Engineering in Ossie Park, cost me $104 all up, now I just gotta pick up some silicon piping reducers, and some hose clamps and put it all together...
I've decided to go with the 180degree bend on one side of the cooler to retain the stock return/output pipes. I'm going to do a comparison between the "over-the-engine" and using stock pipes myself as noone has any hard facts.....
Random pullovers: Two, both in fremantle, one when the day after I picked the car up, and the other just last year.
Scarbs, Freo are hotspots, and I wouldn't go near them if I wanted to most of the time. It's like playing russian roullette(sp?) with the yellow-adhesive-love
I'm all for not making eye contact with the police, stuff like that can make them do a U-turn
OMG dude, either the tuner doesn't know what the hell they're doing, or somethin on your car isn't right!
I made 218hp on stock boost/f*cked timing etc.
Then 254 on 10psi, timing, SAFCII, stock cooler, stock dump, stock cat.... go figure
It's a fuel pump resistor....
1. Start your car
2. Disconnect resistor
3. Watch car run out of fuel and stall after about 15seconds.
4. Laugh at the stupidness of the device (wtf is it for anyway!)
after finding it, being curious, and ripping it out, I found out the hard way
