Haha - but have you seen how good the banner is?? I think we could branch out into women's G-strings and the like with SAU across them - with a banner that good it needs to be displayed proudly!! It would give us an excuse to get the chicks naked too.... hehe sorry guys... i just want a Tee!!
-
I found a leaking water pump and fibre-glass repaired rear gaurds haha wish i had a flare.....
-
Prank can we do a sticky thread for those who want this T-shirt?? Im so keen to get my hands on one... surely someone can organise a print of say 50 T-shirts for starters?

R32 GTR grille (Where can i get one from?)
HSVKLR replied to buz-11t's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Oh it can be done but there are two layers that need to be welded together once its cut. But probably the most difficult part is following the gradual arc of the shape of the nose on the R32 when cutting the lip off.... id hate to have the responsibility of doing it... this guy on SDU managed to do it however... http://www.geocities.com/brendonmoses/gts4page14.html -
R32 GTR grille (Where can i get one from?)

Yeah i dont like the GTST front end much either... As you can see from my pic under my name i dont have my bonnet on yet... hehe.... as for cutting the lip off yourself, i dont recommend it - the bonnet has layers and as my panel beater said when i asked him for a quote to cut it "it would be a head-f#ck and around $900 including a respray". GTR bonnets go cheaply and frequently on this site. More often than not they are gunmetal grey for $500-$700. Buy the real thing or go carbon fibre. You'll need to take out the GTST latch and replace with GTR one around $100 from wrecker...Hope this helps -
R32 GTR grille (Where can i get one from?)

Ok two places to source one from that i know of: 1. Advan Performance @ Silverwater - $170 approx 2. Lincorp @ Camellia (Rosehill) 9638 7193 - $300 The Advan one isnt an original and you'll have to drill two small holes at the back of the grill to tie it to the grill mounts. Delivery time is bloody huge too cos its gotta come from NZ and trust me they're in no hurry to order it for you anyway (mine took 10weeks). However the final product is good. Lincorp on the other hand sell orginal ones with built in mounting holes... but are almost twice the price I bought the Advan one... -
But to my best knowledge all GTRs have it.....??? Not to say you automatic guys are wrong though... interesting....... Surely someone must know for certain

Haha no worries InExtremis - it's interesting that they did an article with dyno results of all our "favourite" australian cars. Just out of interest the XR6T which won the comparison for best all round ability made 185Kw@wheels... not bad eh?!! They even made mention of the "R32 Skyline" in the article - saying not since then has a 6cyl decimated the opposition in such a way.... Btw RB25 i like your formula in working it out - very interesting but if you apply it a stock R32 GTSt see what happens: Roughly 110kw@wheels=147.4hp@wheels therefore 147kw@flywheel (158/162kw stock) Almost but not quite....

good point!!! Holden and Ford have been known to produce poor-performing engines. In the case of the 290KW GT outperforming he 300Kw GTS you could assume that the GTS was down on power.. BUT the GT has a heavier rear weight bias than the GTS so that may make the difference...

GTR vs EVO vs STi in Speed mag... that u Munro?
HSVKLR replied to SS8_Gohan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I agree with you hippy - what drives individuals to go head-hunting in reference to these sort of issues (barely an issue). It's disgusting that red tape gets in the way of a good time and that people are so jealous that they would stoop this low. (Same as the cops reading posts in Vic) Munro - saw the SPEED article (i knew it was you hehe), love your garage - top choices (right down to colours). Dont worry about the "feds" they've just got a chronic case of tall poppy syndrome!! Years of driving company VT Commodores would drive anyone mad!! Keep on boosting - and get rid of the SS Ute - you know you want an FPV Pursuit (290Kw & 520Nm) hehe -
For dyno-testing yes more more weight in the back will give better results (generally speaking) for RWD cars. Thats why sometime you see guys sitting in or on the boot of cars being dynoed!!!! As for on the road, there is a fine line between good power down and bogging, and more finely adding extra weight to aid power down and the detriment of having a heavier car (the heavier the car the worse power to weight ratio). Think of a leaf sprung suspension equiped ute with big horsepower. There's 3/5ths of stuff all weight in the back therefore there is going to be a difficulty in putting the power to the ground because the tyres wont be sitting as heavily on the road...

There is no definitive equation for determining flywheel horsepower from rear-wheel horsepower. InExtremis you said that you believed it was 80-85%, well i heard it was between 67-75% (2/3 and 3/4), so that proves that it depends on multiple variables. All wheel drives also lose much more power through drivetrain loss. Ill outline a few variables that i know of but someone with dyno experience can elaborate: * wheel/tyre size * how well the car puts its power down * weight distribution In the latest MOTOR mag they had a Holden v Ford comparison and dynoed all 7 cars. Some interesting results: * FPV GT = 290Kw@fly but made 225Kw@wheels * HSV GTS = 300kw but made 222Kw@wheels * Holden Caprice = 245Kw@fly but made only 158Kw@wheels * Commodore SS = 235Kw@fly but made 182Kw@wheels * Commodore SV8 = 235Kw@fly but made 178Kw@wheels As you can see descrepancies are apparent in these examples. One phenomenon did occur to me the cars that performed best had more weight over the rear axles... Hope this helps...

Check out this fine Skyline!!!!
HSVKLR replied to SkylineMannen's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Klaus, you cant do much more to improve the look of that car!!! It's silver and it's an R32 GTR (the best combination!) You're a lucky man!! Maybe try and source some Nismo side skirts for it, to make it look a little lower - but apart from that looks wise she's the goods!! -
Is there any chance of getting that banner on a white t-shirt?? Ill have one in medium thanks!! Love the contrast of the afterburner lights against the evening sky - haha how arty farty did that sound? Quite seriously though - i think the T-Shirts would be a great idea!!

Due to a heavy impact with a gutter today i am in desperate need of the following: * 1 x R32 GTSt stock rim (would probably buy 2) OR * Set of R32 GTR rims * Complete passenger-side suspension assembly including hub knuckle, spring and shock.
-
Speaking of HICAS!!! Mine came on and put me into a gutter today - tore apart my passenger side suspension assembly.... ugly ugly stuff... HOTR33 - do a search for HICAS problems or something like that - there's tonnes of links... Ive had so many problems with mine - flicks the tail out when the light comes on etc....
