Bit of an update Just bought a 2nd hand recondition AFM, changed it over today and no difference at all so im a bit stumped, i can actually make the car stall on purpose, for instance i can be in 5th gear at about 90kmh,give it a bit of throttle then just before it starts boosting, put the clutch in and put the brakes on slighty (it dosent stall without the brake not being on) and the revs will just drop and car will stall, it likes it just cant catch its idle. Anymore ideas on what it could be? the car runs great apart from this problem, not sure what to check next, 02 sensor? idle valves? TPS??? Might plug my PFC in on the weekend and check the TPS values etc etc Any more help would be awsome, cheers guys.

Exactly what i was thinking Nice work mate, well done!
-
I would say its a faulty gauge/sender, mine does the same thing, 8bar oil pressure when cold, 2-4bar depending on revs when warm, on idle normally around 2bar but will sometimes drop right down to 0 and stay there for a while, sometimes if you let it idle while the oil pressure gauge is just above 0 it will all of a sudden jump back up to around 2bar and start working fine, some days it is perfect, some days it is fauly as hell, my old r32 gtst done the exact same thing! Very common problem. If your concerned about it hook up a decent aftermarket oil pressure gauge and see what the readings are.

Thanks mate , i built her a couple of years ago , now have a r33 gts25t , i actually put stock side skirts and end caps on before i sold it which made it look much much better, it was a awsome car, i like my cars to be nice and clean, no big body kits etc etc, just a nice set of wheels and dumped, it was my 1st turbo skyline lol.

Tein Type Flex
nizmo_freek replied to nizmo_freek's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Shit didnt relise i didnt update this thread, anyway my supplier sold the last set of flexs just as i went to buy them so i decided to get super drifts intsead, they are a model up from the flex's, come with 7kg springs front and read and have pillow ball top hats (the flex's dont come with top hats so you have to use the stock ones), the can go super low and ride nice and smooth (a little bumpy sometimes but nothing to complain about) ,they have transformed the car handling wise!! i can post pics on the shocks and with them installed on the lowest setting if anyone needs pics etc etc! Cheers for the help anyway guys -
Cheers guys

Cheers , nope there not to stiff at all actually, they come with 7kg spring rates all round which is perfect for the street in my opinion, I didnt go for super streets as they wouldnt go low enough for my liking and would be a bit soft, i originally decided to go for tein type flex, which come with 6kg front and rear springs and are height and damper adjustable, and you need to buy pillow ball top hats seperatly as they are made to be used with the stock top hats, i went to order the type flex's but was told they sold the last set just day before, so the shop suggested getting the super drifts which from what they told me are basically a beefed up version of the flex's, they retail for $3400 nzd but i got a huge discount as i have an account with them so i decided to go for it and snap them up, havent regreted it since , they awsome for the road. Lol and nope, i havent drifted the line lol, i may start doing some trackdays in the future tho, so they should come in handy!

Some new pics of my car, now has TEIN Super Drift coilover suspension Here it is on the absolute lowest setting it can go, which is way to low for road use, which is why i made it higher, i would rather have a car that is low and can still be used and driven hard on the roads than a car that is super low but can hardly be driven anywere!

Tein Type Flex
nizmo_freek replied to nizmo_freek's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Cheers mate, great to hear somones opinion that is using them, have you ever taken your car on the track? if so what did you think of them? -
Ive checked all the intercooler piping, intake pipe and bov plumback line, vacuum hoses and tightened all the hose clamps ,everything looks fine to me, im running the stock ecu at the moment, but if i have to i could plug in the PFC and see what the airflow voltages are while im driving. Is there anyway i can test the afm to see if it is faulty? would a dry solder/joint cause the problems im having, i thought that a broken joint/solder in the afm would cause the car to run completly crap and hardly drive at all? cheers for all the help, would be great if i could get some more opinions

Bump, anymore ideas??

Tein Type Flex
nizmo_freek replied to nizmo_freek's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Cheers for the help mate, so do you know how much lower the type flex's can go compared to the super streets?, ive been looking for info and pics of r33's with them and cant seem to find any decent info anywere, if they can just tuck the tyres (im running 18x9 +30 on the rear with 255/35 and 18x8 +28 on the front with 225/40) then i will be happy, i dont want to go ultra low, just low enough so i dont have a gap between the tyre and gaurd. Any further help would be really appreciated. Cheers -
Yea i think i will just do that, or buy a cheap 2nd hand one, i dont want to buy a brand new one as i need to get my z32 afm in the future anyway, it happen again today by the way, ive checked all the pipe for splits and lose hose clamps but everything is fine, ive checked all the intake pipe setup and bov return line aswell and all is fine, so im leaning towards it being the afm, would a faulty afm cause it to only stall randomly ,if the afm was fauly wouldnt the car run like crap??
-
So you guys reckon afm? im thinking that aswell, the car does hesitate and surge somtimes but nothing to major, just seems weird that all of a sudden it has got a problem, might take it into nissan and see what they think
-
Yea the r32 wheels look much better than your stock ones painted black

Hey Not sure if i should post here or in the skyline section, but i just went for a drive and while rolling at about 90kmh in 5th, take my foot off the throttle, put the clutch in, ease on the brake then all of a sudden it stalls, all lights on the dash come up, no power steering, it has been doing the same thing since about a couple of weeks ago just randomly, normally the revs just drop right down and then come straight back up to idle but this time it completly stalled, the car runs fine when coming to a complete stop everywere else, it just seems to do it at the same peice of road just before my house (no, im not saying the road is causing it lol). any ideas on what could be causing the problem? its not a vaccum leak cause if it was it would stall while its idling, im running the stock bov ,im stumped as to what it could be, O2 sensor of afm maybe? I could plug in my PFC and do a sensor SW check and get the reading of all the sensors? would this tell me anything? Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers
-
Cheers mate, yea i plan on getting some stock skirts in the near future, im looking at getting some teins so hopefully the car wont be so high for much longer
-
Hey guys Looking at getting some Tein type flex coilovers for my ecr33, is anybody here using them and if so what are your opinions/experiences with them? most people seem to be using Super Streets, but im not sure if they will go low enough for my liking, i want something that will just tuck the top of the tyre inside the top of the gaurds, and ofcourse they need to be smooth enough for street use but need to be good on the track aswell (i may start doing some track in the future), i think the spring rates that come with the type flex's are 6kg all round. So basically im looking for some opinions on what the type flex's are like, any help would be really great. Cheers
-
Cheers , im actually looking at getting some teins at the moment, im just not sure which ones to get, i want something that will sit the tyres basicaly level or just inside the top of the gaurds.
-
Heres mine, its changed a little since i last posted, now has work emotion xd9's and toyo t1r's, seriously needs to be lowered, also i dont think i have put an engine bay shot in here, its nothing special yet, need to get the cam covers painted. sorry the pics are not to great, more pics of the wheels here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=172043
