How Much Do You Spend On A Oil Change ?
Tangles replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
ryco oil filter and Motul 4100 turbolight 5L, cost under $70 all up, plus adding a Grex (greddy) oil filter relocation kit, so that adds $170 right there oh well, make it easier on my non-kneeling knees. change oil and filter every 3-4000 kms, dont go by length of time tho. makes it around 2 changes every 13months -
so was mine.... centre to offset muffle, muffled big time. very quiet. got a 2ndhand Kakimoto 3inch centre to centre straight thru muffler off a GTR. niiiiice. $65 delivered from WA. welded it on, nice sound, restriction gone. set at 14psi but seen 15psi in a cold valley with foot down mashn the pedal. stage1 slide rb25 highflow turbo
-
seems awefully similar to mine 190rwkw 14psi dropping to 12psi manifold was cracked and replaced, rear Fujitsubo was causing a restricition - added a highflow 3inch Kakimoto muffler and all is fine now. Just got to retune it, soon hopefully.

sorry dude, yeah I know that..... my bad. long hard tiring day last friday. Im still keen tho with the safc + adj.fpr tho, thats all.
-
sorry dude, pls dont try to make me out as a fool - I might come across that way (quite deliberately) now and then and take the piss outa myself, but I learn fast and research thouroughly................ my case example: standard turbo, cat back exhaust, bleed valve. 120awkw, 2yrs ago now. supplied a safc, and with my readings from this site supplied a nismo fpr due to the fact that the fpr maintains the rail pressure that you are altering when using a safc. but using a fpr (cause you are using a safc) leans the fuel pump a bit, obviously. from that tune (140awkw) the standard afm was looking a bit cockeyed, wasnt working well at all, so it was thoroughly recommened to me at the time by the respected tuner to get a z32 afm for the next tune. next tune, finished off exhaust with the dump pipe, added fmic, and supplied the larger afm as the z32 provides greater gain and measurement of the air, being used with a safc and fpr it seemed "normal" to do this, considering it was recommened but the engine tuner. also added a sitc and fuel pump. fuel pump was added to make sure I had no issues with fuel, seeing a z32afm/sitc/fpr/safc were being used. why do all this and risk leaning out the fuel pump? that was 160awkw standard turbo. added the highflow (always had the goal to do this) and at same psi gained ~25awkw outa the box. so yes in my case it comes down to your overall plans. as I said before, depends on how far you want to go. depends on budget, but a $150 fpr wont break the bank, nor would same price for z32 afm. BUT, in summary, I wouldnt add a safc without also adding a fpr. then by adding a fpr you should consider a bigger fuel pump, eventually, each car/engine is different tho, horses for courses. why lean too hard on the stnd pussy 10yr old fuel pump? z32 afm has greater tuneabililty than stnd afm...... my course of action with the 1st/2nd tune showed up the afm, could have been unlucky but again just my particular story. highflow turbo was the last thing I added, everything else was good and ready for it.
-
yup it all comes down to the fact "how far do you want to go" and when you are doing it "what is the budget" Nismo fpr $160 delivered Nengun Bosch 040 $200 delivered Z32 second hand $150 delivered safc - search for best price. I can guarantee when using a SAFC that the FPR helps sort out the tune - youd be foolish to install a safc and not a fpr, and so does Z32 (higher resolution for air intake measuring), fuel pump may or may not be overkill, each to their own tho. Im not going to preach to you what works for me

nah man, buyer beware. pretty easy to visually "see" if there is a dipstick. how can you NOT notice ?
-
4.5L oil sounds low. mine gobbles around 4.8L , more soon when the Grex oil filter relocater is fitted. get a dipstick fitted !! surely wont be expensive. dont delay. compression tests are cheap, all up (test and fit) what a $300 job tops? oh, and its pretty farkn easy to see if a turbo has been installed properly or not (ie no copper washers etc), visually and by feel, plus the turbo oil feed pisses out oil straight away and can be easily heard, engine sounds all "liquidy" (been there done that with my highflow, one bolt wasnt quite tight enough and out came some of the engine oil). my advice - get a new mechanic! definately.
-
incorrect; in the terms that they ALL help aid the tune I can vouch for that, sure its not all necessary, nothing is, but they ALL aid in helping sort out a real nice tune.
-
good post Steve. thing is, if you are doing an safc, youd be crazy not to add a Z32 afm, a Nismo FPR and a better fuel pump. These 3 items help so much in terms of giving more 'tuneability' to the ecu piggyback. what is your current fuel economy ? as standard (pod filter and catback zaust) I had 120awkw with around 460kms to the empty tank, 1st mods (finished zuast, r34 smic, fpr, safc) got to 140awkw with around 450kms to empty tank, then retuned again with sitc, fuel pump, fmic etc got 160awkw at 12psi, then last tune with a highflow turbo I get ~180awkw with around 440kms to empty. cant complain with that fuel economy, seeing Ive increased power by over 50% (way more in it, final tune coming up soon enough). oil filter relocation kit, new oil and filter, cam gear wheel, and 1.1bar boost. expect 200awkw and roughyl same economy.
-
get a new O2 sensor, might help efficiency, same goes with new fuel filter, fresh oil etc (ie service) Id be looking at a Nismo fuel pressure regulator, SAFC2, Bosch 040 fuel pump (direct battery feed) along with the tune but depends on what your goal is.

make an official complaint to the consumer authorities. dont hold back, you have rights mate. you got screwed over 2 ways: a) asked for a price first, but work was done without your consent and money was demanded (a big no-no), and b) substandard workmanship, obviously by the lackies. ATS is recommended by GrahamWestWorkshops as well, so most ppl are happy with their products and services. but in this instance the stars obviously wernt aligned for you, and its cost you time & money when it shouldnt be like that. Id recommend Sliding Performance (slide on sau) for a rebuild to the turbo. hes a great bloke, tell him the facts and Im sure he'll give you his best price. slide highflow FTWiinnnnaaaaahh!

21months ahead you f**ken beauty although for the next year I wont put as much onto the morgage (ie 50% of gross wage) as its time to do more stuff with the little ones on the weekends. cheers to clearheadedness (ie no painkillers) =D
-
yeah I pay extra tax each month.... the year I didnt I got stung bigtime (over a grand) as I couldnt claim much on my vehicle that year. so, this year, under-declearing income to family benefits scheme, and overpaying tax, should get a cple grand back. straight onto the morgage baby!!!
-
no, its just Adelaide. no one gives a f**k about anyone else these days....... lived here my whole live and Im watching the city slowly becoming a real shithole. ppl want something they take it. how do you stop that ?
-
mines more along the lines of: chi che chu chu che chuk chak! MEGATRON
-
with a SAFC surely itd be ok to use?
-
Slide highflow rocks !!!! go the slide route, save the $1500-$2grand on the turbo and spend it elsewhere on the car.
-
winnah !!!

Autech 260RS ? shortarse hey ! go the non-kneecapers (oh thats just me, oh well, go me!) anyways, a lot of ppl here in the stag section have as good an RS4 as a 260RS (in stock form). the gtr stageas stock put out, what, 210awkw? with some suspn tweaks such as Sydneykids complete kit, auto shift kit + cooler, highflow turbo + engine goodies, air induction and fuel pressure mods, and tune, 210awkw isnt that hard to reach. do the Pfc, injectors and a good turbo and 240awkw can be had, same sort of output for a autech gtr stagea midly mod'd. you may tell that I luv my stagea my highly mod'd bike was insane, but the stagea is more of a pleasure to own, sort of.....................
-
yah, family wagon for me, with "some" skyline heritage (ie running/suspn parts) love it, wouldnt have anything else just stirring gtst. with the right thought proccesses and enough moolha, an automatic stagea can indeed be a weapon and a very fun car to drive. so cheap these days, so cheap.
-
+1 fail you want "manual" then add a shift kit and the control box, real hard "manual" shifts then, quicker than a manual, faster to put power to the ground then a manual.. but meh, some of your posts GTST are useful, some are just plain stirs.
-
my 040 is mounted on stock cradle 'as low as it can go'. have no issues with fuel starvation below 1/4 mark. can drive deep into the fuel-light-on stage......... mind you I didnt install it myself, but paid bugga all for the install and battery direct wire feed.
-
dude, time for you to try one out in a twisty section of road...... youd be very surprised. VERY suprised. in the right hands, feeling good & confident, your 200awkw Stagea can rope in a 200rwkw Skyline. no arguments. but no, I dont think anyone would consider a stagea to be a "sports car". perhaps a "sports wagon" tho....... its all in the eye of the beholder. who needs manual anyway? manual FTL. oh, maybe thats just mr.nokneecaps me.
