2nd paragraph.... insurance would pay me $13k for ditching the bike down the road, so thats what Id take. Expensive for a 98 model bike I know, but SO WELL worth it, seriously. I added things up last night, must have cost me all up around 20k......... Nothing to spend at all, a juicy kick-ass performance machine.

I second that!!!! Well done on your fine choice. Airbag suspn? Stuff that, if you've got the cash for that then you're better off buying the whole Suspension Package offered by Sydneykid here on this forum, for around $2000? plus fitting. The rest is normal, more air and more fuel plus bigger (hiflow) turbo = more power. Cheers, Brendan

Nah, its all good! Horses for courses I say. It all depends on finances, wants & desires vs needs, & what gives you a 'tinkle in the eye', etc. I look at my bike and know its a maniac, and cant fathom how it'd be to ride if I was only 5ft 6in tall and weighed say 80kgs, it'd be Insane! I doubt it'll sell anyways, fact is I luv it too much to just give it away. If I seriously wanted to get rid of it, Id get 13k from the insurance company for 'dropping' it. But then I might hurt myself! Brendan

YUP, for what I spent I could have got a new 04/05 1litre sports bike, just. I had $8k only at the time, and found the Fireblade for that price. But the motor let go after 6months of ownership. What to do, what to do? Could have flogged it off for 5k, or rebuild. I went the rebuild option (all parts at cost, cheap labour as well :lol: ), and sold some shares to do so. Since then Ive scrimped and saved to be able to afford the month-by-month ebay mods Ive since done. Bloody proud of the bike too. But it adds up pretty quickly thats for sure. Its my first fully modified vehicle and the journey in doing the buildup has been great fun. It feels awesome to ride a fully customized bike, knowing that Ive done it all myself (minus the engine and fork rebuilds). Plus, the bike is now up to todays standards anyways, with close enough to the same power as a ZX10 (within a bees dick in terms of HP at the rear wheel), brakes are almost equal to a ZX10 (not radial), and rebuilt suspn is better than a stock ZX10. Chassis, well its 8yrs old! Add into the fact that Im over 2metres tall and cant fit on one of these new fangle dangle bikes; a ZX10 is far too small for me to sit on. But Id seriously love a ZX12R, thats always been my dream bike. Low weight isnt the highest priority on the road, stability counts for a lot! And Im 130kgs, so there goes the light weight anyhow!! hehehe

Hiyas all, Got myself a Stagea recently, and want to put some more $$ into that, so therefore...... Thinking of selling my beast, a 1998 Honda CBR900RR Fireblade. I have put over $9000 of mods into this bike, it is simply awesome. Insurance valuation of the bike is $13000, so thats what Id be after if someone wants this pristine superbike. New tyres, just been fully serviced and the flatslide racing carbs have been fully balanced and tuned. Sitting at around 38000kms at the moment. It was bought second hand at 23500kms just over two years ago. Engine rebuild performed at 31000kms by an ex-500GP star rider, who was a privateer. Highly experienced engine builder. Fully rebuilt with a long list of Honda standard and various aftermarket HRC parts used. I have a long list of invoices............! Ive also added the following all myself, with most parts bought brand new off ebay to help save some money. If I was to buy this gear at a shop I may have spent around $13k on mods, but anyways: Factory Pro +- 2 degree ignition advancer K&N twin pod air filters, no airbox Keihin FCR 39mm flatslide racing carburettors worth $2000 Akrapovic full 4-2-1 exhaust system with individual titanium header pipes, titanium collector pipe, and carbon fibre oval muffler, worth $2500 17inch front rim upgrade from a 1998 CBR600RR F3 USA model with new axle and spacers, in lieu of the standard 16inch wheel. 310mm Galfer 'Wave' rotors that are petal shaped, with 58mm offset and 17mm total width with 4.5mm spacers (in lieu of CBR900 standard 310mm with 62mm offset and 21.5mm width). Awesome performance brakes. Lots of spares and stock standard parts, etc. Only thing you'd want to add yourself is a brand new rear shock unit, like and Ohlins or similar. Approximately 152 rear wheel horsepower (or 113kw at the wheel) up from 117 rear wheel HP. Thats a lot of power for a bike that weighs around 185kgs. Higher power to weight ratio than a ZX12R or Hayabusa, and on par with brand new 2005 1litre sportsbikes. Thinking of taking up a safer past time, this bike is very very very quick and a absolute ball to ride! Im a serious Adelaide Hills road rider, but need to slow down due to 2nd kiddie almost here. Also my 7knee surgeries are starting to catch up to me..... PM me if you are intrested in a true fully road registered and insured 'superbike'. How many kms has it got? The O2 sensor should be replaced every 40000kms roughly, and that can make a dramatic difference with fuel economy. Best of luck with the new toy.

Luckily mine came with a full Stagea interior kit, 5 x floor mats for the 5 seats, & a wagon floor mat. All have the Unicorn 'S' signia.

No worries - much cheaper to do that and buy it off ebay (if done today you'd have it for the weekend) than grabbing it from Autobarn or the likes. Such as a 1/3 of the cost........ ebay is good for somethings................!

JustJap on ebay sell them, amongst others on ebay. Do a search for 'silicone hose' on ebay and heaps of options will come up - I bought some great 4ply stuff from Aussie and USA sellers........ works a treat! Brendan

Yup, when the intercooler hoses comes off it sounds like a POP (did for me - I thought Id stuffed the turbo), the car becomes undriveable etc etc. If your car still starts easily enough and idles ok, then it is most likely not the intercooler piping, sorry I didnt go into detail before. So, no boost at all? hhhmm, might be the turbo. Doh. Quickest thing is to check the cat for a start......

Cant fit in the back seats without the seat reclining to the rear heaps and front seats forward as far as possible. Cant lay down in wagon space as my ankles overhang the edge!! Thats what happens when you fill up a doorway! Brendan
