I have a HKS EVC (Electronic Valve Controller) on my grey GTR that supposedly improves midrange and responsiveness of the RB26 as well as acting as a boost controller. It certainlly comes on full boost earier (~1000rpm) than my white GTR which uses a GReddy Profec B.

I want to use a DJ program on it - Final Scratch 2 - and take this to mates houses and (hopefully) clubs in the future. Plus I use the laptop in various rooms around my house (including watching footy when I'm soaking in the bathtub). I also travel a fair bit (both interstate and overseas) and go to mates houses and connect to their Xboxes to swap downloaded files - sometimes 20Gb worth. I will be buying an external hard drive later. Having said all this I did rethink the option of a desktop but will probably stick with the laptop. My mate called me today to say he can source the ASUS G1 for ~$2,600 from one of his suppliers but not until sometime in March. The specs are: ASUS G1 Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7200 2.0GHz 4MB cache, 667MHz FSB Nvidia® GeforceGo 7700 graphics processor with 512MB dedicated graphics memory 160GB SATA HD (5400 rpm), 2GB (2 x 1GB) 667 SDRAM, Built-in 1.3MP Web Camera 15.4" WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) Color Shine, 2 year international warranty 4 x USB 2.0, FireWire, Wireless, DVI Port, XP Media Centre (Free upgrade to Vista) Fast Ethernet, battery life approximately 3.5 hours, Bluetooth, DL DVD+/-R/W drive 4-in-1 Reader, Depth/Height/Width = 284/37.4/324 mm, Weight 3.1 kg

Swap: R32 Gtr Front Lip Spoiler
writeoff replied to ECR 033's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Judging by the number plate and the 'Slowbart' in his details I would guess Hobart - Tassie. -
Hi All, I'm finally about to buy a new laptop and have been considering the ASUS G1. Its not a 17" as I originally wanted but I couldn't find one with T7200, 2Gb RAM, 120+Gb 5400 HDD, >2USB ports, decent resolution (WSXGA+) and a decent videocard (512MB Nvidia GeForce Go 7700) for ~$3,000. I have read the following reviews: http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3403 http://reviews.cnet.com/ASUS_G1_Core_2_Duo...7-32152982.html http://www.xoticpc.com/article_info.php/articles_id/25 http://www.ciblant.com/product_reviews.php?productId=758 http://www.notebooklounge.com/asus/g1/ This link compares mobile video cards although I struggle to understand it all other than the longer the graph the better. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphi...List.844.0.html It can be bought in Australia from these resellers: http://www.affordablelaptops.com.au/asus/g...CFRsrYQodDzIdrw $3090 inc delivery & insurance. 1GB Flashdrive $40, USB TV tuner $90. Total $3220 http://www.p4laptops.com.au/order-asusg1.htm $3249 inc del, ins, 1GB Fdr & TV tuner http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ASUS-G1-15-4-Core-2...oQQcmdZViewItem $3099 + $45 del & $45 ins = $3189 http://www.itbox.com.au/specials/details.j...ame=specialWeb1 $3201 + $18 del = $3219 (same place but $30 more and insurance is only for $1000... WTF?) Any opinions? Anything else I should be looking at? Do you know of anywhere else that sells it for less? I don't really need the 1Gb Fdr but do want the TV tuner. I included them for price comparions. Cheers David PS - I'll probably buy a 20-24" LCD monitor at a later date. Was considering the Dell 2407WFP or Samsung 215TW.

I don't have a vise either so same question... Can I use someones vice or sheet metal bender? I only want to bend about 3mm at each end. Will using a vise allow such a small amount?
-
I was wondering if anyone has a sheet metal bending machine that I could use to make the new rear number plate fit for my R32 GTR. Thanks.
-
It was definately the rear turbo. Thanks for your responses guys. Now I can order the parts... Yay!!!!
-
Thanks. Did you notice my Regency spec exhaust note? Amazing how effective a baffle plate can be although I wasn't going to take it past 3,000 rpm.
-
Awhile ago my the ceramic exhaust wheel on the rear turbo in my R32 GTR shattered. The pieces ended up in the cat but I had a leak down test performed to check the engine. These are the results: 1989 R32 GTR ~109,000km Cylinder 1: 5% Cylinder 5: 4% Cylinder 3: 10% Cylinder 6: 7% Cylinder 2: 12% Cylinder 4: 5% Is there anything there I should be concerned about that needs further investigation or can I go ahead and begin the power upgrade to HKS GTSS or N1 turbos, dumps, PFC, 700cc injectors, AFMs etc? Also do NISMO AFM need the adaptors like the Z32 ones do? Being fitted to HKS pods. Thanks David

Actually going to the physio and seeing doctors would be a better representation of how the last 11 years of my life has been spent. Not much of a hobby though. Didn't enjoy it much. Also like a bit of Texas Hold 'em.

My Beautiful Bentley Killed By A Eb Falcon

Don't think so. Hopefully the guy will pay me for the white GTR this Thursday and then I can order the parts for my grey GTR power upgrade. I'm thinking of selling the Peugeot and getting something built this century. Maybe a VW Golf V GTI. Will do some test drives when I'm feeling better. -
My hobbies have changed over the years due to car crashes that resulted in injuries. pre 1995: Aussie rules football (13 years), cricket (6 years), rowing (5 years) & Zen Do Ryu (3 years). Cue crash and injuries... 5 years of rehab... tennis and indoor beach volleyball. Cue another crash and more injuries... more rehab... and you guessed it... another crash and injuries...3 more years of rehab. Back to hiking, playing indoor soccer and going to the gym until yet another crash and even more injuries (3.1.07). Since then all I do is watch movies and shows I've downloaded. I now watch lots of sports - Football (A League, Spanish La Liga, Internationals, EPL), AFL, cricket, boxing, WRC, some F1 and some tennis. Always enjoy reading both books and mags (usually car mags). Music has been a huge part of my life and I have decks that I don't use enough. Play 8-ball as well although not atm. Play games on the PS2 although solely addicted to PES6. Currently drinking too often as well. PS - 3 of the 4 car crashes were someone else's fault.

I receievd a cheque today from Shannons for the agreed value of the Bentley (minus the outstanding amount on the policy as I paid monthly). No excess was deducted. Just 17 working days from when I informed them of the accident until I had a cheque in my hand. All contact with the assesser and claims department was very kind and helpful. Big thumbs up for their service. Much better than other insurance companies that I have dealt with. Happy to have my Skyline GTR and Peugeot still insured with them. -
R32 Gtr - Victoria - $14,000 Ono

I'm interested in the Sard 700cc injectors and Tomei Poncams. Were these ever used on the GTR? If so for how long and how many km? -
Had another no show by the buyer. 5 times now! I tried unsuccessfully to contact him 3 times since. I'll give him one more oppertunity to pay the balance and if he fails the he can forgo his deposit and the car will be for sale again. To my knowledge the car has not had a rebuild. Certainly not since I've owned it from March 7, 2004.

Location? km? Service history? Pics? Dyno graphs? Compresion tests? Can you provide any more info? -
Four times now he's said he'd catchup with me and give me the rest of the money and each time he's been a no show. I called him twice and sent a text message last week and still no reply. Is he your uncle?
-
Yes please. Some other examples: http://www.users.on.net/~pacey/seats/seats.htm

I've deleted the sump from my list. Thanks for the advice. It was a leakdown test. From memory the best figure was 7% and the worst was 12%. A quick question: Are the Sard 700cc injectors a direct fit (as I believe) or do they need injector collars? http://www.nengun.com/sard/injectors

You Know You Drive A Skyline When .. ... .

...when the kids at the local school cheer everytime you drive past. ...when a 6yo comes up and asks if you've got NOS when you're washing your car. ...when your mates get out of the GTR after their first ride and finally understand... and now want one.
