  1. I've only purchased a PC 6 weeks ago and haven't played any games yet (although I have Half-Life 2 & Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion waiting for me to start) so I fear I'd just be fodder for everyone else. Plus the bloody case weighs 16 kg alone before you add the MoBo, RAM, HDD GPU etc. Would be keen for a file sharing session though. Let me know details when sorted.
  2. Sorry to hear about this. I've had my share of accidents and they truely suck arse. At least no one was hurt and that really is the main thing. Were you able to drive it home afterwards? Too bad about not being insured - that truely sucks. I've had some driver training and the thing the instructor told me is to just hit the animal if they are small. It sounds harsh I know but he listed heaps of examples where people have been seriously injured or worse because someone tried to avoid a small animal. Sorry - I'm aware that hindsight advice is worth very little.
  3. I've just ordered more stuff from Nengun, Perfect Run & Greenline. We'll see who gets their gear here the fasted. I sent an email to Todd from Nengun who answered the same day but only responded to half of my email. I haven't heard back from him since replying with my other questions (that was last week). Perfect Run ask you to pay for the goods before giving you a quote on delivery. A pain in the arse as it means that you have to go to the bank twice. Greenline use an exchange rate that is worst than Nengun's (for us).
  4. According to this thread it is sold. Pity as I need it now. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...p;#entry2900547
  5. The majority of people offering opinions here would never have driven any model Porsche (or a Lotus, S2000, MX5 for that matter) and are therefore giving opinions on what the car looks like, their 'perceived' image, and what they've read or seen in Top Gear or 5th Gear (both whom really rate the Boxter btw) . The Boxter is not a poor-man's Porsche - it is the first step of a lifetime of Porsche ownership (Porsche holds the record for customer loyalty). An A Class compared to a S Class or SL could (would here) be considered a poor-man's Merc but the idea is to get people into these brands at an earlier age. I hired a Cayman S in Germany last year and took it around the Nurburgring for 4 days. It was brilliant. Sure it could have done with more power but in all honesty it had enough for my driving ability on that particular racetrack. The responsiveness, the communication between road and driver, the handling and noise were all outstanding. My mate and I travelled ~1200km in 4 days and never once even thought to put on the radio or play a CD because we loved the sound of the engine right behind our ears. Having said that I was hanging to drive my GTR again. Test drive all the cars you are considering. Do some research. Determine what is/isn't important to you. And figure out exactly what you want. eg 2003, 2.7, black, <60,000km for $x. And then be patient. While you wait for the exact car you want you will learn so much about the cars. Good luck.
  6. Dude there is an entire section dedicated to this. Start here and read the relevant threads: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=35442 After doing all that come back and ask more specific questions for the experts to help explain.
  7. Make sure the brake pads are bedded in properly before hitting the track. Don't put the handbrake on after completing a number of laps - let the rotors cool down first.
  8. Calm down mate. No need to respond like that. I'm 33 if you must know and don't appreciate this kind of spite in a post directed at me. I find SAU extremely useful and opened your thread as I thought you were suggesting another social outing. As I stated there are other areas in SAU for this kind of thread. You need to relax keyboard warrior.
  9. In relation to importing stuff from Japan neither Nengun, Greenline or Perfectrun will use the currency rate as shown by Xe.com (despite the fact that Greenline provide a link to this website). Interestingly Nengun use an exchange rate that is more favourable to us (in Australia) than Greenline do and delivery from Nengun is also slightly cheaper despite both companies using EMS. My suggestion would be to convert Nengun's prices to Yen, compare prices with Greenline and Perfectrun and if the later two have cheaper prices ask Nengun to price match. With Nenguns better exchange rate and slightly cheaper postage that should work out the cheapest you can get stuff. Then you just have to wait as Nengun usually take a bit longer than Greenline to deliver (I've never ordered stuff from Perfectrun so I can't comment on their delivery times). Oh - I'm getting a NISMO fuel pump.
  10. WTF? Dude we have a thread called the SA Wasteland for this shit or there is an entire section called The Wasteland if you want to waste time of people from all around Australia. Pick a better song at least.
  11. Are these 20 thou (0.5mm) or 40 thou (1mm)? Can you please supply photos? Cheers.
  12. I met these guys years ago when they had just signed with Sony and were doing promotional stuff within the industry. I even drove 2 of them around one night as we went out after their gig for drinks. Nice enough guys but not my type of music. I'd prefer the new bed.
  13. I've only just arrived home. My GTR grew a woodpecker under the bonnet after the fun with Andy. It got louder as I raised the revs. I limped to Tillbrooks never going above 3000rpm and caught a cab home from there. Not happy... I fear the worst and I've only just gotten it back. The last time I went on a SAU cruise up north one of my coilovers seized. I'm yet to get home with a full car intact when going on a north bound SAU cruise. Not happy. I'll have to relive the joy of that cruise for a while... sob... sob And no-one stopped to help me... sob ... sob Thanks for organising the cruise I did have fun... especially the last 10 seconds of it.
  14. Is it essential - ie a rule - to wear a helmet and you have to supply your own? I'm in for any senario whether that be a training day, hiring the venue or an open track day. Would like to do all three in that order I guess.
  15. Send a PM my way please.
  16. That's the one, although the colour is a dark green. My passenger commented on the boost from the lights. I just wound the window down to hear it better.
  17. I saw Vange at Boostworx today. Introduced myself and said hello. Spotted SERTY-1 on Jetty Rd yesterday around 3:30pm. I didn't wave as I was in my Peugeot and you'd probably wonder who-da-f**k was waving at you. Saw a blue 4 door R32 pull out of the washing bay next to me at Woodcroft today. Didn't know you were there until you left. Your exhaust must be too quiet
  18. He did that to show just how fast the F1 really was. The GTR was used as an example of a very fast car. He needed a bench mark to show how much the bar had been raised by the F1 which was only surpassed again recently by the Veyron. Personally I was stoked that they used a GTR as the comparison.
  19. The Blitz BOVs were on the car when I bought it. I don't have the standard ones to put back on. What did you (or the workshop) do to fix the problem?
  20. Hi All, I've just had new HKS GTSS turbos fitted to my 1989 R32 GTR and when I hold a constant speed at either around 60, 80 or 100 kmph I get air pulsing from the turbos and AFMs (I think). The sound comes from the front left hand side of the engine bay and only comes on with light but steady throttle application. It sounds like an old steam train engine - chushh, chushh, chushh etc. The current setup is: HKS GTSS turbos HKS dumps Apexi 125mm FMIC Apexi front pipes 3" Turbo back exhaust Aftermarket coils Aftermarket ECU HKS EVC set at 12psi & 15 psi Platnium spark plugs Standard AFMs Standard injectors Standard engine Blitz BOVs The car made ~235rwkW @ 12psi and 272rwkW @ 15psi (it also made 292rwkW @ 17psi but I asked them to keep it below 280rwkW). It also stalls when I slow down after getting the revs above 5000rpm. The revs drop below 500rpm and I have to heel-toe to keep the car from stalling. The workshop has adjusted the Blitz BOVs and this seems to have improved the problem but it still happens. Lastly when the workshop fitted the turbos they didn't use the black hose that comes with the GTSS turbo kit. What is that for?
  21. I'm interested in track days at Mallala or somewhere similar and know of 4 other guys who are also interested. Training would be preferable but not essential. Not interested in drifting at all - prefer to find the perfect line and lowest lap time. I just thought there must be a reason why every year someone mentions "lets do a track day" and nothing ever seems to eventuate whereas the other states seem to have events fairly regularly (I know some of them have larger SAU member numbers and formal clubs).
  22. What ever happened to this thread? Why did the idea stall? Every year it seems someone suggests a track day and gets some positive responses and then it just stops... why? Can someone please let me know where it all falls down?
  23. Spotted a white R32 today about 11am on Chandlers Hill Road, Happy Valley area. Gave him the thumbs up and got a wave in response. And who said the skylines down south just give you the stare...? Hopefully will get my grey GTR back from Boostworx today with the new turbos and dumps. Had a call from Troy yesterday to say that the cat had collapsed internally so had to get a new cat as well.
  24. I've been reading up on this as I need to do the same thing. From the other threads on this topic (I used the search button) I've noted the following fluids for a street car setup: Engine Oil: Motul 300V 10W40 Gearbox Oil: Redline Lightweight Shockproof (Not recommended if you have a freshly rebuilt gearbox) Rear Diff: **Must use an LSD Oil** Redline 80W140 Front Diff: Nissan Matic D or Redline Lightweight Shockproof Transfer Case: Nissan Matic D Brake Fluid: Dot 4.1 Injector cleaner: Redline SI-1 The engine oil is discussed alot with other brands also recommended. Do a search if you want to read more. You can load Redline's recommendations from here: http://www.redlineoil.com.au/oil-finder.asp
