Thanks for the tip. I hadn't thought that far in advance. I've had a leakdown test performed. I can't remember the exact results off hand but IIRC there was 5% variance between all 6 cylinders ie 5% difference between highest to lowest figures. I'll post the exact results when I grab the sheet. Ugly photos you have there. That must have hurt (both the car and your wallet). Thanks to both Mr Keats and wrxhoon for your comments regarding the Bentley.
-
Thanks for your input wrxhoon. The short answer is that I'm going to pay someone else to do it. I have very little mechanical knowledge and have limited movement atm due to a serious car crash on Jan 3rd. I haven't decided which workshop I'm going to get to do the work yet. I want to drive to the various workshops and talk to them first but I'm carless atm. The Bentley was written off, the grey GTR has a blown turbo (hense the upgrade), the white GTR is sold although the buyer is stuffing me around with payment & the Peugeot is in for repairs. 4 bloody cars and I'm catching taxis. I take your point about not being able to comparing dyno figures - they are a only a guide - I am interested in the thoughts and opinions of people with the GTSS turbos with or without the poncams. However dyno figures can give an indication of when the turbos come on boost which is what I'm interested in.

They're just taking into account that Australians and Americans are getting fatter and therefore need larger cars to fit in. -
Thanks for your input Blitz. This is the kind of information I was after. I note that williamsF1, The Alchemist & HKS26T also have HKS GTSS Turbos with the Type B poncams. Has anyone ever seen or heard of using the Type A poncams? PS - going to stick with the original plan. Just got excited over the thought of cheap(er) turbos.
-
I've been reading about your power upgrade with interest. I may contradict myself now as I saw the HKS 2530s for sale and $2000 seems a good price for these turbos with HKS dumps. Mushi Mushi states that they come on at full boost at 3200-3500 rpm but from what I've read this is about 1000rpm sooner than I could expect... right? With the money I'd save over new turbos & dumps I could get the Type B pon camshafts.
-
That's interesting. Why? I kind of expected to get answers or opinions on this question from R31Nismoid, Beer Baron, wrxhoon, pnblight & 700HP-GTR33. I would really appreciate input from HKS26T, Snowman, williamsF1, GTR032, jonn, yug r34, pure_methamphetamachine, The Alchemist, SLVR32GTR & RH9 who either have the turbos, poncams, or both to know what info they had that effected their decision to buy. What are your experiences/recommendations? Cheers

I'm finally about to order the gear for a power upgrade on my R32 GTR. The list so far includes: HKS GTSS HKS dumps Apexi PFC + HC Sard 700cc injectors Bosch Z32 AFMs Tomei AFM Adapters Tomei Sump Baffle Plate NISMO Fuel Pump N1 Oil Pump I've already upgraded the clutch, oil cooler, oil relocation kit, oil catch can, turbo back exhaust with a high flow cat, 125mm FMIC, front pipes, HKS airpods, suspension, brakes, flywheel and gearbox. I'm after 300-320 kW that spools early, has low-end power and is responsive. Car is driven mainly in the Adelaide hills with an aim to do track days. I will probably take it to the drags once (more if I enjoy it) but that's not my priority. My question is do I need pon camshafts and if so which one? From the nengun site it states: http://www.nengun.com/tomei/pon-camshafts-pulley-set Type A In order to get stable idle and raise low-mid RPM torque, we set the duration of EX camshaft shorter. Best suit used with stock turbine or N1 turbine. Duration IN 260 EX 252 Lift 9.15 Type B By giving longer duration timing than type a, it eables to raise both response and peak power at the same time, even with mid-large sized turbine. Duration IN 260 EX 260 Lift 9.15 Looking at the other SAU guys who've posted their dyno results here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=93880 most with HKS GTSS turbos & poncams have the IN & EX 260 (Type B). But reading the info from Nengun and believing that the GTSS are similar to N1 turbos wouldn't the Type A be more suitable? Cheers.

I'm glad no one was was hurt. If that's the worse day of your life then you're doing pretty well. I started the year by getting T-boned, pushed across four lanes of traffic, over the curb and through a fence. Spent the night in hospital and have about 2-3 years of rehab to look forward to and that WASN'T the worst day of my life. Losing keys, backing into a gate and getting rear ended (where no one was hurt) isn't too bad. I hope your car gets repair quickly and properly and you're back on the road enjoying Skylining around.

Car was sold on December 9th 2006 although I'm still awaiting final payment. Car was serviced and tuned again at Boostworx on November 30th 2006. Compression test showed 145-150 psi on all cylinders. Car did 211.1 rwkW at 13psi on a 36 degree day. I have service record and all dyno sheets from both tunes available. Some more recent pics:

Just had a phone call from the insurance assesser who stated that the rear end was completely twisted and that the car is a total write off. Personally my movement has improved to the point where I can turn my neck nearly 70 degrees (up from 15 degrees) although I struggle to tilt it back. My knee has most of its range of movements although still hurts to bend or put my weight on it, my back has limited range of movement and my ribs ache and are causing the most amount of pain. I drove my mates Honda CRX yesterday for about 4km which was the first time I had driven since the crash. I went okay but didn't need to check my blindspot which is my biggest concern. Speed humps are evil if you have sore ribs! -

The car was insured for an agreed value based on the condition and low kms on the car - 51,360km for a 17yo car - which was determined by the insurance company. I think you're right about the spare parts being worth a bit though. -
For $90,000 seems a bit over priced although some decent photos might heap. Engine shots, brake setup, wheels, in daylight , in focus etc.

My grey GTR has been off the road for months. I blew one of the turbos and wanted to do a $11-12k upgrade so made the promise to myself that I wouldn't spend the money until I sold my white one. Finally sold it 5 weeks ago but am awaiting payment so the grey GTR still sits in the garage gathering dust and spiderwebs. Now after another serious car crash in my Bentley last week- http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=150522 - I'm having second thoughts and am considering selling my grey GTR and my 1991 Peugeot 205 GTI and buying a modern car with crumple zones, airbags, seat belt pretensioners, ABS etc... Still I know that once I get the grey GTR back on the road I'll be grinning like a little kid on Christmas morning.

I can't comment on fault as that has yet to be determined and I have no idea what speed she was doing but you're right about pushing a car weighting 2200kg across four lanes of traffic I suspect she was going faster than I was - 60-62kmph. The cop I spoke to last Friday said there had been another accident that same night at the same intersection which also took out one of the traffic lights. Busy night. -

You'd be surprised. The place that David and I rented the POrsche from let him drive and he is only 23. The main rental agencies probably won't though. Just make sure you check the policy fine print as some specifically forbid you going on the NNurburgring. Even if they are in German you can still recognise the words Nurburgring and Nordschleife. http://nurburgring.org.uk/ is a helpful site and I'll search for the business card of the place we rented the Porsche from and send it to you if you like. -

I'd actually thought about that because I have really old shitty couches at home and the ones in the Bentley are waaayy more comfortable. The ones in the front were 4 way (8 if counting both directions) adjustable electric seats. -

I don't know about old fighter-jet engines but it had a 6.75 litre V8 and Bentley used to be owned by the same group that owned Roll Royce and they shared the same engines (to my knowledge). -

I didn't see the Falcon but was told it was a hell of a lot worse than my Bentley. They hit a 2200kg British tank headon and knock it across four lanes of traffic. I hate to think of what state I'd be in if I was driving my 900kg Peugeot 205 GTI. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and well wishes. -

Thanks. I doubt that it can be repaired as these cars are hand made by Europe's finest coachbuilders. I'm yet to hear the insurance company's decision as to write it off or repair it so I may be premature in saying that the car is dead but the chasiss is twisted fairly severely.
