  1. Not wasting any time are you? 350-400rwkW here we come.
  2. I know the Elephant Walk, been there a few times. Thanks for suggesting it (and Andy) as I had forgotten about it. There is a similar place on King William Rd called Spats*. Good place for a nightcap/coffee/icecream before heading home. Thanks guys. I now have some idea of where to go. *Edited as correct info supplied below by Andz
  3. Thanks for the suggestions. Wasn't necessarily looking for a restuarant as opposed to a place to hang out at and have a few drinks. Cafe Salsa sounds good. The GTR is STILL off the road - awaiting the PFC to come back from Japan since November - so we'll be going in the Peugeot. Oh... and $500-$600 on a first date... not likely
  4. Hi All, Anyone got some suggetions of places to go for a first date? Not looking for a nightclub as we want to be able to hear each other speak. Want the crowd to be aged between 25-35. We both live south of town but I was thinking of places in the city, North Adelaide, Unley, Norwood or down at the bay. I also have some friends visiting from London soon who I want to show around so I'm open to all suggestions. Can you give me an idea of the atmosphere, music & crowd. Midweek suggestions as well as Fri/Sat night. Thanks.
  5. +1 I ordered a lot of stuff from all 3 places last year for my GTR rebuild and found Greenline and Perfect Run delivered as fast as 5 working days after I deposited the money and about 2 weeks at worst. I waited over 4 months for a Tomei oil restictor from Nengun and sent my PFC back to them for repair under warranty in November and still haven't got it back nor an ETA.
  6. The R35 GTR already looks like it has eaten too many donuts... and Porsches, Astons, Ferraris etc. *imagines Ford Territory Turbo ad but with a real supercar eater this time*
  7. Saw a noice white R33 GTR on The Lane O'h. Hill about an hour ago. Half an hour ago I saw an R31 going the opposite way on Claraden Rd haing a spirited drive. I was in my 205 GTI.
  8. That belongs to my mate. He recently bought it off another SAU member.
  9. +1. George just did my GTR. Now I'm going to book my Peugeot in to get a new alarm.
  10. Looks like you got some more mods than just those. I'm guessing an oil catch can plus others judging by the engine bay.
  11. Serial numbers and specs can be found here: http://paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com/docs/gtr-turbochart.htm
  12. It's only on R32 GTRs that you can pull out the fuse to make them RWD. With R33 & R34 GTRs you to have drop the front driveshaft. N1 turbos were made for all GTRs but are only standard on N1 or Nur GTRs. The R34 N1s are the only N1 turbos that have steel wheels instead of the ceramic exhaust wheel. There are also 3 different types of R34 GTR N1 turbos. You will find alot more info on them in the Forced Induction section.
  13. Look on the bright side. He'll crash it within 6 months (probably within 6 days) and we'll get to see the R35 GTRs cabin structural integrity. Nothing like real life crashes & dumb humans to demonstrate how a car (or more importantly its occupants) survives a collision.
  14. A helmet and some track driving lessons - although I'm not sure in what car or at which track yet. What I'd really like is a big AP braking kit but what I want is around $6k!
  15. I'm getting my R32 GTR engine rebuilt atm in it has cost more than I sold my other R32 GTR for - and that was a good car in good nick that I got a fair price for. And the car still isn't ready!!!! People commenting in this thread for a rebuild for less than $10k. I wish.
  16. One thing people haven't mentioned here is that boost levels can effect the lifespan of the turbo. Standard ceramic wheeled GTR turbos (non R34 N1) shouldn't be boosted above 15psi or 1 Bar (although there are plenty of people who have and haven't had any problems... yet). I don't know about GTS-T turbos but I imagine they have a common boost break point as well.
  17. His name isn't Alex is it? If so I bought his original engine and that's what's in my little Pug.
  18. Saw an R32 having some fun on Clarendon Rd around 10ish last night. I was going the other direction in my Peugeot 205 GTI.
  19. Great read and you truely capture Clarkson's essence except for this statement: JC would never put all of Britain in what he calls (VW) Beatles with running shoes. More likely he'd say a Lambo Gallardo. Otherwise brilliant.
  20. Oh wow. A 205 GTI. I never thought I'd see pics of one on SAU let alone from Japan. I showed them to my car and then went for a squirt through the hills. We both thankyou.
  21. Congrats Cara & Pete on your trophies. Pete - did you put the R34 GTR on the dyno?
  22. That was on a SAU cruise wasn't it? You're confused Sam. We were playing piggy in the middle and the cop just wanted to clarify the rules.
  23. I did it last year in a Porsche Cayman S which I hired for four days prior to the World Cup and took around the Nurburgring and then again in September in a Ford Mondeo but only got to 190kmph that time. I've already started to make plans with a mate to hire a Ferrari in '08 or '09 and go around the Ring again.
  24. As someone who has travelled 250kmph LEGALLY on the German autobahns I always wonder why Australia can't have higher speed limits. We have the space, we have the $ to spend on quality roads (not that they are) and we have an infrastrature that could benefit from shorter travel times ie large proportions of the population based in capital cities that are 800+km from each other. Cars and tyres are better built to cope with speeds higher than 110kmph and the Germans have shown over a 75 year period that fatality rates on their autobahns are no higher (actually slightly less than most western countries) than on roads with speed limits. I know it will never happen but I'm yet to hear a convincing arguement as to why not.
  25. Happy Birthday Dan. Have a cookie. My mate's after an Evo VII. Where did you buy yours from?
