  1. Just pull it out and tune the standard ECU. It will be better and cheaper than most aftermarket ECU's.
  2. There is no point getting it tuned with a f**ked fuel pump a chip or SAFC or whatever wont be able to get the fuel in if there is no fuel in the rail. Discrepancies in power can sometimes be different aged AFM distorting the airflow signal, but mostly due to differnent dyno's.

  5. Are you sure you didn't bump the TPS??? What its voltage at closed throttle?
  6. Chances are that it was started cold everyday and not driven enough to clean the plugs so they are probably just a little fouled. There could be fuel and timng differences between the two maps the more fuel in the chamber the harder it is to ionise the gap - the same rule applies with less ignition timing.
  7. 15k worth of motor and your only willing to pay 1k for managment. I dont get this mentality. 15k worth of engine can be rendered worthless very quickly.

Just to let you guys know we picked up 40awkw on a 420awkw WRX in changine from 99 coil pack system running dumb ignitor with autronic dwell control using a 0.6mm gap to using full CDI igntion with proper coils and 0.9mm gap!!! Mind you it was braking down slightly before hand but the results were throughout the rev range.
  10. Ha ha gotta love autronic!!!! The stock ECU tuned by the right person using good qualitiy sensors will be better than any aftermarket ECU bar none including the PFC.
  11. If you have an oscilliscope built into the multimeter than yes you can test it. Should have at least 2ms of dwell time on the coils at 13.5Volts.
  12. And the B4 was absolutely shite to drive massive dead spot whre the turbo's changed over. Three boost control solenoids from memory 2 wategate control and 1 exhaust valve. Dont get me started on the series six my boss used to tune the factory managment, there is about 24 different boost maps for every operating parameter you can think of. Have thought about it on a skyline but the costs outweight the benefits. Plus there are a heap of other parameters to consider. My thinking is that if OE cant get it right then aftermarket has little chance!
  13. Emissions. Everything is about emissions. Fuel vaporises easier when the manifold is hot. Thats why you have cold enrichment - to get the car to drive nice when cold becasue the atomisation/vaporistation is shite.
  14. 02 sensors richen the mixtures as well - under criuse condtions. Wow just read back through all the post - man there is some misinformation here. 1 of them above the other being that cars run richer when cold as the atomisation isn't as good. Three the 02 sensor doesn't operate until about 65deg Celcius on most GTR's. Can you descirbe the problem again please.

  16. Has more to do with the ramp rates and how many graphs the computer that runs the dyno has on it. If there are too many files it takes a second or two to start the ramp however the car is already accelerating so it draws a shite graph and the boost comes on slower as there is less load. Shootout is so crap - this is one of the many reasons I dont tune in shootout.

  21. The more your ignition is retarded the high the cylinder pressures, which means it is harder for the spark plug to ionise the gap. When your pushing the standard ECU to 12psi as some people would say you are in the R & R mapping. What is actually happening is that you have reached a higher load cell within the timing and fuel maps that is overly rich and overly retard which makes it a shite load harder for the plug to fire. Turn the boost down!!! There are so many reasons for miss fires and most of them is due to poor maintenance.

  24. Xede.com.au - its just an interceptor/piggyback system. Very user friendly and quick to tune. Its also very adaptable to lots of different task as you are able to change both axis variables and the varaible being changed you can also nest two 3d maps so the output of a function is derived from two tables. We use it on the EVO's, WRX, fords, porche's, lotus and whole bunch of other cars.
  25. Please inform me of one car that runs an electronic throttle and independantly phases 4 camshafts. No 1 I know has done it cause the mechanical syphony of multiple bending valves is just too much for most mechanics/tuners. I might be jumping ahead of myself here but they would want to have done a whole shite load of development since the V3 WOLF becasue plain and simple it was just shithouse!!!! And no there is nothing complicated about its tuning its quite simple really just like any of the high end ECU's.
