  1. hmm did think the skirts were vielside but there must be a couple of styles, as the vielside r33 ones i saw were different
  2. where can i find skirts like my ones then? the only type i've found are the 400r style, trust, bomex and vielside ones but i dont know what skirts i even have
  3. Does anyone know what kit is on my car? was on it when i bought it. From memory the last owner said it was a top secret style front bar, is all i can remember. I cant find that design on their website, also have no idea what design the skirts are. I havent seen them on any other r33s to be honest. Even the grill seems pretty unique. I do know its a trial rear bar (and standard s1 gts wing) Comments??
  4. hmm would rather take it to someone.. i dont have the equipment or the space at the moment to do it myself.
  5. Hi all, was wondering if anyone had experience or could recommend a body shop / someone competent in repairing damage to fibreglass front bars, skirts and such.. like this... I'm going to try the place down the road that did a repair job (spray only, on a standard plastic bumper) on my last car for a quote next week, just hoping i can get some recommended places to compare it to.. Cheers, -Isaac.
  6. dang too rich for my blood good luck with the sale dude
  7. spotted a bunch of sau hooligans (+ 1 soarer) at mt cotton today
  8. looks like an ordinary momo with a nismo horn button to me
  9. lol then why did you ask what car it would be from if you knew
  10. i think it was an option on 40th anniversary models - the two i've seen didn't have the momo. I think i've seen that wheel on some wrx's tho (think MY02 models?? maybe STI's???)
  11. w00t .. jzx90 and jzx100 chasers are far better looking than a r33 sedan imo... definatley no camrys. I'd say they look like a bmw or something euro.. I used to have a mx83 cressida which is the same shape as the jzx80 chaser/cresta/mark 2. They weigh about 1400kgs, the later models (x90 and x100's ) are pushing 1500kgs depending on what options. Faster than a soarer, i remember hpi said the manual chaser was hard to get off the line and the auto ended up being faster across the quarter mile. oh and unfortunatley the chasers are pretty rare. Not all of them over here have a 1jz, some a diesel versions with shoddy interior and live axle rear ends x90 should set you back around 20 grandish? x100's seem to be about 24-28, a bit more for a manual if you're lucky to find one.
  12. not necessarily. A decent replacement rb25det ur lookin at at least 3K, you can get a 1jz for almost half that!! (supply demand i guess, plenty of blowing up rb's to cater for i guess). And as someone said i chose the r33 cos it was lighter and easier to find in a manual, and was a better overall package. I found one manual soarer for sale in qld at the time and it was 30 grand.. Would seriously consider a 1jz swap if my rb crapped out...
  13. we know that... they were both rated at the same power i'm sure of it. As gts says please post a link??
  14. no way, non vvt 1jz's have always been 206kw - any number of HPI issues will say this...the vvt version has more torque and probably more power but not quoted due to the 206kw gentlemens agreement between the manufacturers for max power in japan I testdrove an auto 1j soarer when looking at a r33, the soarers more of a cruiser - its super quiet inside, a/c is excellent, visability great, really comfortable ride, the auto was fantastic, and seemed to have a higher build quality than the nissan BUT the skylines feel more livelier - eg: brakes and steering feel muddy with the soarer, and they have friggin massive doors- must weigh like 200kgs each!! I was also disappointed in the 1jz but i think if it lost the auto and the 1600 or so kg it had to tow around it would be a great car. No comment on the manual as i didn't drive one but from memory when driven right they run a 14.0 sec quarter so thats quicker than a stock r33 manual by a long shot. Manual soarers dont have the great skyline 5 speed, but the r154a isn't a bad box, and i believe the lsd in the soarers is hell expensive to replace if things go bad. Oh and brakes are smaller than the r33 (2 piston fronts, single piston rears i think????)
  15. Hmm that white one has all the 40th ann features. What might be possible is that they are late 97 build plate cars that were left over and redone as 40th ann models (i think thats why they did the 40th anns anyway - it was a runout of the last of the r33's).
  16. vin number running thru fast should tell. AFAIK all 40th ann r33 would have to be 98 models, that 97 model sounds like a scam... (cos wouldn't it be a 39th anneversary )
  17. hmm so seems the ones i have are meant for vl turbos, r31s and such.. ahh well hopefully wont cause any dramas cos i'm not putting it back together again just to drive across town back to autobarn.. they should be right untill i can get some splitfire coils and iridiums in *crosses fingers*
  18. wow thanks where did u find that- i searched and only found some old thread from 2004 about some dude having white deposits on his plugs rofl..
  19. Just wondering what plugs everyone was running? I went out and got a set of ngk BCPR6ES, but when i went to install them my old ones were BCPR7ES which isn't even on the ngk website. Does anyone know what the difference between them would be?? (they have the same thread, and i think the 7ES was originally gapped at 11mm but is at 8mm now, the 6ES seems to be 8mm standard). On the ngk website they recommend a PFR5G-11 or BKR5EIX-11 (irridium) for my car - a 94 s1 r33 gts-t. Do i have the wrong plugs?? the old ones and the ones i bought appear identical on the outside (so they definatley will fit). Could someone help please??
  20. I drove a silver 98 model 40th anniversary. Didn't seem any different from normal s2 r33 but has the badges on the side, embroidered badges in the seats (that otherwise seemed pretty normal series 2 maybe different fabric tho). Had full body kit with a gtr style rear wing and a front bar that was some sort of hybrid between a normal series 2 bar and a gtr one.. (best way i can describe it, i'm sure you've seen them). Oh and had standard front and rear strut braces with skyline logo on em. That one drove beautilfully and was by far the best r33 i looked at but it only had a genuine 21000 kms (opening the bonnet everything looked new- all the hoses had that shiney new rubber look to em). Good luck
  21. 6x9's are designed to work on a parcel shelf, using the boot area, not boxed seperatley... (unless maybe you built the boxes to some specs provided with the speakers). I'd build a decent parcel shelf out of 12mm or thicker mdf and thow away the boxes.. although its been said before a pair of coa 6.5in coax's and a 10in sub will be way better than any set of 6x9's. I found in my last 2 systems (which had 6x9's) that the bass they produced was far too overpowering anyway, and drowed out the higher frequencies.
  22. Dude how could u not have time?? you'd have the engine, vin no surely and have it registered before driving it anywhere, u do know all it takes is a phonecall and you're covered from the second you set the policy up??
